We joined after…read moreour son, a long-time member of the Life-Time Fitness Signature River North Club in Chicago urged us to check it out after another national chain where we worked out suddenly was unable to keep its swimming pools and locker/shower rooms operational (and clean) and the workout machines in repair. LTF had bought out the previous operator, City Club, and invested millions in renovating and updating the facility. We met at and continued, as a couple to gravitat to large health clubs in different cities where we worked and lived for over fifty years. During the tour, where we were shown the various centers for weight training, the outdoor swimming complex, yoga studios, Pilates studio, ballet barre, a full service cafe and a very impressive spa/salon, and recovery room, I commented, "Goodness, I could live here very happily." We both have been very pleased with our experience there and feel that it is well what we pay for our membership. We travel a lot and have visited LTF clubs in different cities and have been pleased by the consistency of the programs, facilities and maintenance of a clean and functional facilitiy. We are usually there, working at maintaining our heath, both mental and physical a minimum of five days each week. But, I am writing this hot mid-July Sunday in 2026, to give two thumbs up to the entire LTF staff and management for the annual extravaganza, Poolchella, that was held over most of two days on two successive weekends bracketing our nation's 250th 4th of July celebration. It is one of the regularly scheduled music and dance events offered across the year on weekend days or weekend evenings described as adult get-togethers. That part I guess, is true but incomplete. The club's bar had two or three men and women constantly assembling cocktails and other libations, sandwiches, plates and snacks which were delivered to the many people out on the expansive, pool deck that has a variety of green and flowering plants. A succession of DJ's laid down very nicely synched non-stop pop and rock music tracks. The music drew me outside where I completed over 20 one/fifth of a mile circumnavigations of the pools where I ambled along at about 4.2mph movin' 'n groovin' to the 125 bpm beat the male and female MCs were laying down for well over an hour. It was hotter than hell under the sun in H-Town. I didn't care. I hydrated and took breaks to assess my well-being before picking up the pace over and over again. The LTF club leadership, GM Randy Doty and Club Membership Concierge Desiree Cortez, also provided floaty toys and a bounce pit and a variety of other kiddie attractions to enable entire young families to have a great holiday memory. And, therein lies the reason why this particular "urban country club" is so popular. The club offerings--from traditional solo weigh lifting to yoga, dance, Tai-Chi, strength, Pilates, cycling, swimming and group fitness classes welcomes not only the traditional gym rats and a surprising number of former college and professional athletes. They also offer a rich mix of classes that are directed to people like ourselves (AKA Aroras) who have made it to age 55 and beyond and understand that muscles do not age out as long as they are regularly and responsibly exercised. We routinely take classes with men and women who are well into their 70's, 80's and 90's and are still at it. But, LTF also has a very impressive kiddie care facility, so mom's and dad's can take advantage of the Club's classes, very clean family changing, showering locker room, use the cafe or the assigned out-of-the-office work area and get a mani-pedi, massage, assisted stretching session or work out with one of the many personal trainers, confident that their babies and toddlers and little kids are kept busy, clean and safe. For my wife and me, the Greenway Club is a central part of our Houston retirement. We enjoy the tri-part goals of LTF Arora--"Healthy. Active. Social." Bravo Randy, Desiree and the terrific crews!!

Obviously the monthly fee isn't cheap but it usually comes with the territory if you sign back for membership. Working out or spending time here is more of a lifestyle and the amenities it has to offer. There's always trade-offs and membership cancellation in pretty much anywhere you go can be an issue or challenge, but I find all things this place has to offer out-weigh any potential downside. With all that said I think its worth the money to be a member here. And I particularly enjoy hanging out at the pool on those lazy days.

I live in the neighborhood and was considering doing classes here but my first impression was…read morepretty disappointing. Came to pick up a family friend from camp with my own newborn and toddler in tow. After waiting in the carpool line I pulled up and proceeded to load them In. A young lady told me I can't stop but to just be quick so I continued. I'm not sure how you safely put kids in the car without stopping, so i didn't realize this was problematic. The next lady that approached me was extremely rude yelling at me that I can't do this and she's going to report it. I let them know I don't the system, but if they tell me a better option I would be happy to do it. There was no reason to be that rude. Politely offering a more appropriate solution would've been sufficient. Instead this lady was aggressive with me as I was juggling two toddlers and a newborn in the Texas summer heat. The last thing I wanted to do was slow down the line, but being nasty about it when the first young lady told me it was ok feels like her anger was misplaced. Unacceptable.

I believe in rating places within context. For a YMCA, I think this place is amazing! I came to use…read moremy free one-day trial, and I immediately bought a membership after working out. I had been struggling to find an inexpensive, yet high quality gym that had a good variety of classes to fit my schedule. This location pretty much has classes all day long, I love it! So far I've attended Bodypump and cycling, and I highly endorse both. Something else I love is that they have Les Mills on-demand for the group fitness classes which means you can take a virtual on-demand class anytime there isn't a live class going on. They leave the rooms and equipment open so the possibilities are endless. FYI, the cycling bikes are compatible with SPD cleats.

I was a Y member for 10 years and this was probably my 2nd fave Houston area location after downtown. It did get busy during rush hour, but what doesn't. However, their prices shot up during COVID, they started limiting workouts and that lasted for ages, and became extremely shady with their finances. They still owe us $500 for all the money they charged us after we canceled, but the joke is on them, because I tell everyone their shady practices and they've probably lost a lot more than 500 in dues from me and a lot more than 50,000 in dues from the people I've told the honest truth to. The gym is clean and works well, though.

She responds very quickly through texts and is excellent about notifying scheduling/location changes. We've had three instructors so far. Lisa has designed a program that every instructor follows--which is great for kids since they know what's coming next. Our current instructor is Nina and she is all kinds of wonderful. My toddler was having a very hard time with being in the water without her mom. Nina was kind, very loving and patient with a screaming child. We're 4 lessons in and now my younger daughter happily walks to her teacher. Nina adjusted her lesson to accommodate my children's needs. Overall we couldn't be happier and highly recommend you start your swim lessons here!
