But unfortunately we were stopped from going up stairs to the class, this is really odd when the past few weeks when I go to the Zumba classes here I see the little girl with her mom each time. I don't know if it's a gender bias or something? Boys are not encouraged to go to LA Fitness Zumba? I'll take him to the studio classes at Lifetime instead then. We went yesterday and he followed along fine! Not sure why I keep this extra membership. Was hoping to get more Zumba in for me and son...guess maybe don't need to keep it if we can't attend more Zumba classes. Lifetime doesn't have as many Zumba as LA but has better kids care, swim, and pickleball that's unlimited for the whole family including kids. There's also Parents night out Kidcare that runs late for dates or if you wanna work out longer or play more PB. Or the can sit on the PB court also. Gonna be rethinking this LAF membership or just avoid this location.

If the website says their open, they may be closed. Like today July 5th and of course, closed again tomorrow July 6th. Walking into the gym, I was greeted by friendly and helpful staff. They told me there were lockers with key locks available. Just give your drivers license to them, and they can loan you a temporary card to insert into the locker to use the key lock. You will get your drivers license back when you leave. The locker room was spacious, bathroom was clean, showers were available, and water fountains/water filling stations were there to quench your thirst. The gym itself was bright and spacious. It's got all the equipment needed to work out. Free weights, a leg press machine, free standing weight machines, treadmills, ellipticals, kettle bells, stability balls, medicine balls. Well, I'm sure I've forgotten something. It wasn't packed at all when I came here, which I liked. I was free to use any and all equipment for as long as I needed to. If you're really ambitious, they do offer CrossFit classes at different pricing packages. I, myself, have an aversion to CrossFit. In my opinion, it feels like cardio and weightlifting done too quickly without enough rest in between, which can have the potential to cause an injury. Overall, though, I think this gym will be a regular spot to get some serious working out done.

It's a fitness dedicated environment not a "see & be seen" environment. Ideal for anyone dedicated to improving their physique safely & significantly. Always a clean gym with dressing rooms and showers to facilitate commitments post workout. I have noticed there are numerous women who are within my age range 50-80) working with trainers as well. I come from a ballet & Pilates background (certified in teaching Pilates) and need to rebuild lost muscle mass from age & injury so I really appreciate the quality of training and the knowledge Dewayne possesses to prevent me from injuring myself.

My main goal is to remain strong enough that I will not go into a nursing home. The nursing home my father was in was filled with women who were frail but they had their minds. I did not think they were well taken care of in terms of their grooming -- not to mention the high cost of any of these places. I decided this will not be my fate. This facility is very clean and it is a fun place to be and close to my home in West University. I enjoy the music they play and love all the R&B on Friday. The young trainers like other music the other four days. All of their trainers are excellent and keep their mature members as well as their young members in very good shape. But it does seem a bit elitist, and also I think the fact that it opens at 5:30 can be a bit of a problem, because if you work here at Memorial City and you start at 8, that might be okay as long as you only want a quick workout, but if you work somewhere else in Houston and you start even as late as 9 then good luck getting done with a 2-hour workout and getting to work in time.
