It is now a multi-vendor antique/collectible store. It is really fun and interesting to browse. Some items can be expensive, and others are reasonable- it all depends on the seller. One thing is for sure, there is a TON to look at here, and spread across multiple floors. FYI it is not handicap accessible; you will not be able to view the upper floor if you are in a wheelchair. There is free popcorn, which is kind of a neat gimmick, and I really appreciated it. It might keep your kids quiet long enough for you to do some hard-core browsing. Stove dent wouldn't show, so I took it and the company offered $100 off on that. They said they'd replace the dishwasher. A second weeks goes by - we waited around during that four hour window they can't do better than, and they brought a STOVE. So truck left with the stove. We still had the dented dishwasher. Another week, I hear nothing. Then I call. "Oh, it's coming in three days," I am told. No one told me. "And it's between 3 and 7 PM." In the dark. In a house I don't live in yet. I said no, and they said call us again in two days and we'll have a new day and time for you. "Daylight hours," I said. "No problem," I was told. Two days later I call and delivery is between 7 AM and 11 AM. I call delivery - 7 AM is insane - I live half an hour away from this house. The Home Depot person I call is sympathetic, but there's no other option. She tells me to call after delivery and maybe there can be some sort of refund for the trouble this has been. So I get up before the sun, drive to an empty house, and wait. I finally get it, and they take the old one away. I email the company to tell them I want some sort of satisfaction for this mess, and they offer me a GIFT card. Like I'm going to buy more stuff there. I am still waiting to see how this works out, but this has more than confirmed my low opinion of Home Depot, or Home Disappointment, as a contractor I know has dubbed it. True indeed.

Since the problem was the loss of refrigerant by a leak somewhere, and the internal icemaker not working, the anticipated cost made me consider getting a new refrigerator. It would be nice to say that I went to the CBD of my community to find an appliance dealer. But that doesn't exist, so the choices are limited to a big box store or an hour travel. I suggest reviewing Consumer Reports for guidance. I did my Net research first. I opted for Home Depot. I looked at many models and decided upon one that was highly rated, energy efficient qualifying for a NYS rebate. I paid for it on a Weds and the cost of delivery and removing the old one very reasonable. Oneonta Home Depot said it could be delivered on Sat. between 10 AM and 2PM. Well to my happy surprise, I got a call at 945 AM that the delivery team would be at my home at 10 AM. They did a great job of removing my old, wounded refrigerator and put the new one in its place. It's nice to have a store that sells appliances, with a year warranty on parts and labor and actually does what it says. I like that Home Depot also sent me an email of my invoice and how to prepare for the delivery.

So.... Scholet Furniture sold us a bedroom set on Halloween. It took until sometime in December…read morebefore it was delivered. A WEEK later the bed broke. It took over a month and a half before we got someone from service to respond to us and actually come out and fix it. Based on the design of the bed it was obvious that it wasn't going to last. They said 'they'd call us to discuss options for a permanent solution' as the onsite technician agreed but said all he could do was put it back to the way we bought it. This weekend it broke again. Had we heard from Scholet since end of January when they were here? Of course not. Their 'service' department is the furthest thing from it. We spent 2,000+ on a full set for our bedroom. Not only did the center supports break, one of the slats screws striped out of its hole and as we moved the bed to try and 'temporarily fix it' we find that the headboard was half unscrewed from just sleeping in the bed and would have just fallen off soon. At this point our bedroom has become a jungle gym nightmare that LUCKILY we were able to fit our mattress on the floor with the set still in the room. So we call to request the whole set be returned as its been a whole 4 1/2 months since we took delivery and we've had major issues twice and we obviously don't want part of a set in our room we bought the set b/c we wanted a SET. WE don't want to wait weeks for their service people to come out, not solve the problem and then promptly forget us again. We want it out of our house. SO What happened when we called? Call 1: Sunday - Sales says service will get back to us. Call 2: Monday - from Service "We'll have to talk to the owner they're not here today", our response: " CALL THEM, we can barely move in our room and its not our fault only one person can authorize a return in a company as large as Scholet" Call 3: Monday - from Service "We'll only take back the bed" That's funny, they were billed as a set, so I expect the set to be refunded ,not some arbitrary number assigned to each piece without any detail on our receipt that it was the original price of the pieces when we bought it. Needless to say, we're out a bed frame. We are probably out over a thousand dollars b/c we're now stuck with a cheap feeling bedroom set that's incomplete once the broken frame is taken away. Their only defense is "We've never had one break like this, lets just give you a new one". What the hell is a new one just like the existing one going to change???? The supports are a single pole in the center on a single bolt in SOFT wood that's about an inch thick on each side. ANY Shift in weight on it is going to do exactly what happened, RIP THE BOLTS out of it. Another frame of the exact same design isn't going to cut it and Scholet's terrible response time for delivery and repair already made us not want to work with them further. TLDR: -Bad Bed Frame Design, -It took them nearly 2 months to come fix it it the first time after it broke under a week of having it. -We've had the bed for 5 months. -They refused to take it back as a set, and at first refused to take it back at all. -They're going to refund us 'what the bed cost'. According to my invoice that's ~2,000.00 and included a dresser, night stand and mirror. -They're going to break the set price apart and only refund us for the bed. So we're stuck with PART of a bedroom set for our room.

Walmart is like a magnet it will draw in customers from the worst to the best. I suggest that if you are concerned about that simply go to walmart.com and actually purchase the items online, after comparing the item with its competitors, also online, and then the store employees will put it in your cart as a completed purchase. Don't be hesitant about asking an employee for assistance or even going to Customer Service for assistance. The perennial scam in all Big Box stores is excessive returns and misuse of the self-payment registers. Be assured that all stores have the same security methods and they are quite good at catching the bad people. If you just want to walk around and shop another suggestion is to call the store and ask them if they have a specific item, and to actually hold it for you. There is an excellent free Walmart app for your smart phone to make shopping much easier by actually locating the item and current price. Walmart still has a policy of meeting the cost of all other "local" competitors with the actual flyer listing prices. The pizza and Italian-type foods are the mainstay of many college people.
