My painter recommended colors and I had selected a few awhile back. Jose patiently, and with humor, fanned those color cards back and forth like a dealer in Las Vegas. His comments about undertones were very helpful. I don't have the ability to break down colors. The store will also "shake" 3 unopened gallons I've had for 3 years. Today is Friday. JC Licht and Jose are this week's "grateful" moment.

ARE YOU A WOMAN? If…read moreyou answered yes to the above question you may want to reconsider going here for paint. I walked in here on Monday, September 30th. The store was pretty empty except for 1 other customer (a female) who was being helped by a female employee. I am a huge advocate when it comes to patronizing neighborhood businesses. I was in the area for a meeting. I decided to Google "Benjamin Moore" paint. I needed Benjamin Moore paint for a project at our house. I came across this particular paint store on Harlem Ave., several blocks North of Higgins and South of Foster Ave. The store is located on the east side of Harlem Ave. I was the 2nd customer in the store. I walked up to the front counter. I told a young man what I wanted (Benjamin Moore paint) and what the paint would be used for. I knew I needed a specific paint for a metal (steel) door. The young man was polite and professional. I did not have to buy primer because the paint already contains primer. All of a sudden 5 to 6 professional contractors walked into the store. It was obvious these men were spending hundreds of dollars on paint and other paint-related equipment. The one thing I noticed immediately was that male employees working at this particular store took care of all the MALE contractors. I was the 2nd customer in the store. I was the last customer out of the store. WTF! I walked up to the ONLY female employee. I said, "I know I am NOT spending hundreds of dollars, but I would appreciate it if you could check on my order. Please see if my paint is FINISHED being mixed." The young man who originally took care of me informed me that it would only take 5 minutes to mix the paint. It was already 15 minutes. I needed to get to a meeting. My paint was finished being mixed and was sitting in the back while the male employees took care of the male customers. As I spoke with the female employee I went even further. I can be a very blunt individual. I said, "How come all the male customers, who came in way after me, were taken care of right away." I said, "I guess because I am a woman I was put at the bottom of the priority list." She responded, "That's not true." Ummmm, YES, it is true! I personally experienced it for myself. You don't have to have a college degree to figure out that male customers are taken care of way before a female customer. If they cannot take care of female customers in the same way they take care of their male customers I don't want to patronize a chauvinistic misogynistic paint store. I noticed other previous reviews, by females, are very very very old. Outdated. I also noticed how the reviews by men rate this paint store with 5 stars. Men receive impeccable customer service. Women -- not so much! Although I did not spend hundreds or thousands of dollars, I expected to receive the same courtesy and customer service the male contractors received. When I walked in the door not one single person asked me "May I help you?" Or "Do you need any help?" I am not a second-class citizen. However, I was made to feel like a 2nd class citizen. I felt invisible. Finally, talking about a customer, after a customer leaves the store, is very unprofessional. A young male employee slammed a customer, AFTER the customer left the store. I heard the entire conversation between employees at the front register. They didn't care that other customers were present. This is very, very unprofessional.

I first went to Menards and then Home Depot and they all said the same thing - we have the screen materials and tool kit but we don't do that type of work. In fact, Menards specifically mentioned Skokie Ace. So I came in and we got what I would consider a fair estimate for 8 of my screens. Now - could I have done this job myself? Of course, and I say that without flinching. The question was, do I sacrifice a Saturday afternoon to replace all of these screens? No, because I could be Yelping. I decided to pay for this work to buy some time. You may disagree but my Cost vs. Benefits analysis led to drop off all of my screens. I opted for aluminum this time and they were all expertly replaced in a matter of days. Excellent customer service by Carlos of Skokie Ace. I received two messages informing me to pick up my screens. In the words of Ace Frehley - your customer service has Shocked Me!!!
