No problems with the place. Good old school range, the only thing is parking is not great.

I came here for shooting lessons with Tracy and Tim Wilson... Armed Defense Academy... will write their review separately. I learned to shoot with my local Police dept, so I knew what to expect. The indoor gun range is monitored by Miles and Friends and I felt at home. He was at ease showing me revolvers and explaining the differences. I felt comfortable knowing that the sexy man (no disrespect intended) about to sell me my new firearm was knowledgeable and concerned that I understood what I was purchasing. This place is HUGELY popular so if you go to purchase firearms or accessories...or to shoot in the indoor range, don't go on Saturday! It was wall-to-wall folks waiting and taking up space. It was even difficult for us to hear our speakers because there is no door to the classroom. Overall, excellent firearm selection and oodles of accessories. Tip...there provide "eye and ears" for range protection and all are sanitized after each use, but buying your own ears with a mic is best. It's really tough to hear with their ears when in the range area. OH, there is only one bathroom for everybody... one drawback...sorry guys! read more

Don't buy guns or parts. They sold me a used part in a resealed package that of course I didn't see till I opened the packaging. And on top of this part being all scratched up and clearly used. So after I got rip-off I looked online to get the same part but brand new of course and realized they charged me just short of double the price. Super rude sales people who push try to push you into sales when your just there to shoot. Very uneducated on the products they sell and overall terrible vibe. I've never seen someone know so little about a subject yet try and be their way through a conversation to make themselves sounds relevant, honestly it was embarrassing for them. I'm another one that don't understand the bad reviews. It is a shooting range, you go in, ask for a booth, get whatever you need, and then go and shoot. If you need any assistance they will be sure to help. I went a couple of weeks ago, no issues, shot my pistols, swept up my used brass to the rear of the range, paid my fees, and left the business. It is a shooting range, you people seem like you're going there looking for friends. If that's what you're looking for, take a friend with you. Who would want someone walking in holding a loaded pistol? Get a case for it! I'll go back for sure, as in tomorrow, April 1st. read more

Their range was nice went there a few years ago with some friends who were regulars. Went back two weeks ago to purchase a gun. They seemed to be annoyed by my presence and were not interested in a converation(Oddly enough, I'm a word economizer and tend to not ask a lot of questions) even though I said I would like to purchase a gun. my statement about buying a gun was given a response of "This is what we have". I felt like I had just waterboarded the guy(large guy with the tatoos) to get that much. The other guy(small guy with glasses) kept on doing whatever he was doing. No problem. I'm out. Went over to Parma Armory. Walked in the door two guys said "Hi how can I help you"? I said I want to buy a gun. One guy(who's name escapes me) said "This is what we have but you can order anything from my catalog and it will be here between 1-3 weeks. Then we will do the background check" No problem. Bought a S&W .380 came in in two weeks, picked it up after doing the I.D. check. Excellent customer service and a large clean looking range. Sherwin Shooting Sports may be good with guns and their range(Although I have no proof of that), but they are not very good with people. Or maybe they just didn't want to sell a gun to a 67 yr old person of color. We'll never know. read more

WARNING! DO NOT COME HERE! Very RUDE, unpleasant, inexperienced staff. I've got 3 pieces, spending over 2k. From the moment i parted with my money, it was a hassle. It took me a month to get my guns (i have no criminal record whatsoever) because they did not know the procedures how to sell to non citizens. At one point they actually to cancel the order and NOT refund the money when I started to press them for my stuff!!! They don't know how to properly handle guns. I saw someone who left with one of the guns they left out and went in the back. The guy looked at me smiled and left with it. What if he started to load it? I would have to fight for my life and the asshole that put me in this situation. I will tell everyone i know to never come here and you should forget about this place too. So, I've been a shooter on and off for years now, but when I come across a place that strikes me as good, I have to comment. Sherwin Shooting Sports is right on Vine Street in Eastlake, Ohio. I'd heard of the place on line, and when I went, to test out a new purchase, I was pleasantly surprised. The folks behind the counter were knowledgeable and thoughtful, and assisted me with speed and courtesy.I've dealt with other establishments that had staff who were definitely NOT helpful and made it seem as if the customer was a bother, but the Sherwin folks go out of their way for you. The line up of firearms, both for sale and rental, was diverse and well-kept. I've heard some say that the range fees are a little high, but not to my reckoning, especially when you find out that you have UNLIMITED time in the slot you rent. Their ammo prices are about par with other places, and the place was clean and organized. They don't have what I would call a "lot", more like a few spaces in front of the store, but there is street and lot parking close by. Overall, for a seemingly small place, they have a LOT of inventory and some nice people to help you out. My experience was a good one. Their membership fees seem a bit high, but as only a part-time shooter myself, that was one aspect I was concerned about. I was also told they have concealed-carry classes on a regular basis so you can schedule at your need. I stopped by here twice to shoot my rifle (.22) and pistol (Glock 19 9mm) and to be honest I doubt I will be back. Both experiences were not what I hoped for as I do not feel safe at this location for the reasons below.... The first time though I waited 20 minutes while the one person working at the time got done selling firearms so I could pay for a lane. The shooting lanes were actually ok, but upon finishing I was looking at pistols while waiting to pay. Another guy there started putting on the hard sale for me to buy a Glock I was looking at. I told him I wanted to take a look at a Springfield XD (which they did not have in stock) before making a decision. He basically wouldn't let me pay for my lane and kept pressuring me to buy the pistol before ringing me out. My second time there was much worse. Again after waiting 20 minutes for the lady to show another customer a pistol I finally got to pay for my lane. After being in the lane for about 10 minutes, about 4 urban individuals entered the range. They were acting very immature and dangerously. They kept acting like idiots yelling things like "BOYS IN DA HOOD, BOYS IN DA HOOD.....BANG THAT NIGGA....BANG THAT NIGGA" over and over again. To make it worse they started shooting their pistols held sideways like they were in a movie. Not once during this time did any of the staff come in and say anything. This is not only unprofessional but very dangerous. I kept just waiting for a bullet to fly though the wall at me. They had cameras at this location so there is no reason that someone wasn't watching what was going on. While I was shooting I had my ammo bag on the back shelf. While I was on my way out I was packing up my stuff and I realized that a box of ammo was stolen right out of the top of my bag. I couldn't believe that one of those A-Holes stole a box of ammo from me! I do blame myself for this as I should have had it within my lane, but what balls does it take to do something like that!!! Upon exiting the guy at the counter was just rude when I went to pay. I was trying to make small talk and he wouldn't even acknowledge my existence. I had a couple shell casings that must have landed in my pocket from shooting. I asked him if he could throw them in the trash for me and he just looked at me and then went back to what he was doing. Because of my experiences I will not return to this location. My suggestion is that you choose a location that does not have rude staff, and puts safety first. Also another pain is that they only have about 4-5 parking spots, otherwise you have to park across the street and walk across. read more

Worst customer service I have ever received. I first came and brought a friend We both spent several thousand dollars. Since paying, every single other step was a problem. Everytime i came in asking for info on further piece that i obviously was going to buy, i was harrased. This time we came in and were brutally harrased for having the weapons loaded coming to the range. They werent cocked, nothing in the chamber, and on safety. Its a gun. They are carried loaded, legally. If they are so afraid of guns, they should close up. My friends and I will never come back and will tell everyone i know to not come back. My first time there was a decent experience buying a gun cleaning kit customer service was standard my only grip is it's a tad pricey (like double what you find online) but never had an issue. Best range prices in northeast Ohio for 15 Plan on letting off some rounds soon read more

Got there and found out there was no parking so had to haul all my guns down the street and in to the range, the guy at the range had to inspect all our ammo, made us unload all of our mags to see what we had, had issues while shooting and there was nobody there to help. Safe to say I'll never be back to this joke of a range again, salespeople are rude and rush you. Make the extra 10 minute drive to point blank and get some good service read more

I'm a 50 something from Eastlake, lived here since 1966. I attend gun shows on a regular basis, the prices at Sherwin are better than many dealers at shows ! In the 80's, gun show prices were always a bit below gun store prices (higher overhead) but in these days of record gun sales, call it the Obama effect, Sherwin is about the only place I shop for a new weapon ! As a long time gun owner, would highly recommend using Sherwin Sports when purchasing a new gun ! Ignore the spiteful malicious reviews from idiotic patrons who lack the basic common sense needed to adhere to established safety practices. I've been coming here since 2013, initially to take the state mandated concealed carry course, which was a great experience to say the least. The level of professionalism and expertise that was put on display by the female instructor was evident, as was the laid back atmosphere which made 12 hour course palatable. They even ordered pizza for lunch, which was amicable to say for least. I have continued to frequent Sherwin since attending the ccw course and have always found the staff members to be immensely helpful and knowledgeable with respect to any concerns. By the way, the owner is retired Army - I'm pretty sure his level of firearm proficiency is a notch above most. Highly reccommend! read more

I have shot at this location a number of times over the years and usually because it's a last resort. The staff usually seem cold, living up to the expectations of crappy customer service you get at a lot of small gun shops. The shooting range isn't horrible if you're firing pistols. A lot of untrained people doing dangerous stuff, like not paying attention to where they're pointing a loaded weapon. The staff doesn't pay attention, so you have to tell people to get with it and be safe. It's not fun to be at a range and have to be concerned about getting shot by mistake while you're practicing. The prices to shoot are high too... $20 per person, but it is unlimited time. Their gun and accessory selection is also very small. Not much in stock. Sherwins did some work on my Luger , the next time I cleaned the gun I found it had 1 ejector spring missing.Gun worked as well with only one spring I called to find out if gun was altered on purpose or a mistake was made by the person who worked on the gun, no call back yet . I did receive a bitchy text back from someone there no help at all.I'm done with Sherwins .Try Point Blank in Mentor or Crown in Eastlake. read more

Drove 15 miles to shoot my new M1 Carbine. When I got there the door was locked even though their sign clearly said they wear open for another hour. A guy inside shewed me and some other customers away like flies while another walked up to the door crossed his hand past his throat and walked away. They wouldn't even bother to tell me why they closed early or talk to me for that matter. The new indoor rifle range in Mentor can't open soon enough. read more

Went in to sell a gun with the anticipation of buying a pistol that I'd prefer. It seemed the good customer service ended right after being asked if I needed help. The attitude was as if I was bothering them. They didn't bluebook the gun I wished to sell, just asked how much I wanted for it.($1,100.00 Sig in pristine condition, box and all paperwork) Well, since they are putting me into a haggling situation, I asked high, and after just being flat out told "we're not going to give you that", they never made a counter offer. I was amazed at this. It's as if they didn't want the business. When I told them what pistol I wanted to purchase, I was simply told "We don't have that here." Well, I figured they wouldn't have it in stock, but they never said "but we can order it for you". I had to make that suggestion. I just said forget it, I'll go somewhere else, and I will. And, I'll never set foot in that shop again. They aren't the only game in town. read more

To be perfectly honest Sherwin shooting sports is well used and could use some remodeling. However, they almost always have range ammo, are helpful and treat people with respect. I would rather shoot here than some of the other ranges in the region. read more

I went into Sherwins yesterday to purchase an otis tactical cleaning system and look at a .380 automatic pistol with my wife and grandson. As my back was turned when all of the sudden the saleman lets loose a round 3 feet within where my wife and grandson was standing. His first response was "i didn't touch the slide". My wife took my grandson out of the shop while some woman who acted if she was in charge ran around cursing. noone asked if we were alright and such. I was more than disturbed at this event so I waited to calm down to call her. I said have you fired the employee who discharged the pistol and she said they are working on it. I told her that I will not go into the store as long as he is on the premises. I remeber when this was a good shop but what do you have to do to get fired? Kill someone. I will not be going there any longer and my advice to you is to have a bullet proof vest if you must go there. read more
