He kept the class interesting, it was an all day course and For someone who has a short attention span the material and his lecture kept my attention. The day actually kind of flew by. The range time was also very informative. I liked that I had my own coach that walked me though everything and helped with any specific issues that I had. My coach was Jason, he helped explain what I was doing wrong and how to correct. He was really personable and patient. There were a total of 5 coaches including Nick our instructor from class. Sitting and watching the other coaches with other members of the class you could see that each coach was very patient and very knowledgeable and passionate about this field. Husband and I went out for dinner after class and actually starting looking at the other classes that they offer. I would highly recommend this business for the CHL class and even though I personally have not taken the other classes that they offer. I fully intend on doing so and would recommend them. He was so knowledgable, that even after just a couple minutes of meeting him, I knew I could trust him with my life. *3. He was so patient, that it made us feel comfortable to ask questions, which I feel, in this line of work, is VERY important. *4. He knew how to lighten the mood, at all the right times, and knew when it was time to be serious. *5. Never once did he belittle, put down, or make anyone feel less important, less adequate, or less deserving. Cons: ABSOLUTELY NONE!!.. I have already referred a few friends to take your course, just within the few hours of leaving, even if just for the knowledge they'll gain!!.. My dad already has his CCW, and after telling him about it, he might be signing up, just to learn more!!.. I commend this company, for hiring some TOP NOTCH guys!!.. My instructor at the range, I believe was Adam, but I could be wrong on that.. (I had ear protection on!!) He was so calm, and patient with me, and taught me quite a few little changes, that were making a BIG difference in my shooting accuracy.. I cant thank you all enough, for doing what you're doing.. I went in with basic knowledge and left with so much more than before. The chemistry of the class and staff made the day fly by! Explained everything we needed to do (and not do) thoroughly and with intent. Once we stepped into the range, Soni was there to guide us through the machinations of what was just explained to ensure that we were proceeding cautiously and safely. The firing experience was excellent. So much trepidation before pulling the trigger for the first time. But my wife and I both eased in, respected the equipment and environment and followed Soni's recommendations as far as grip, stance, etc. We both shot a .22 and a 9mm and even got to walk away with our cardboard target as a memory. The bonus add-on was that if you partake in the package, they offer a 25% discount off your bill at Suds McGuires (right across the street). Different way to spend an evening and I couldn't recommend this establishment, for putting us at ease while also instilling confidence, more.

I was adamant that I attend a "Basic Firearms" class prior to attending the CCW course. Our instructor today, "Duke," was an amazing listener, instructor, and demonstrator. A 40 year military man with decades of service (Flew B-52's in the Air Force) and firearms expertise, The Duke was such a gift. His analysis during our live fire practice was insightful, gracious in its' delivery, and had immediate results in our shooting. Duke spent time using his skills to align my Romeo Red Dot Sight device. His sense of humor, combined with a very obvious passion for helping others become comfortable and proficient firearm owners, meant there was never a moment where I felt unsure or reluctant to ask any question. The service provided by Lexie in the retail store was also so relaxed and helpful. I purchased some items that The Duke suggested, and my Aunt spent time with Lexie looking at handguns. Lexie was very sweet, honest, and fun. Above and beyond our expectations at R-42 Brunswick LLC! Bravo!

My brother suggested Civilian Defense Academy and I have been thrilled with them. In February I started with the Learn to Shoot class and absolutely loved it. They keep the classes small and only work with a few people at a time during the range portion. That was fantastic because James was right there to watch everything I was doing as I was loading and shooting the various firearms he provided for practice. He was there to answer all of my questions and offer suggestions on improving my form and accuracy. Yesterday I attended the Concealed Carry course to get my license. James and Bruce are very knowledgeable and put everyone at ease right from the beginning. They make it fun and really interesting while still being very professional and making sure to stress the importance of safety - for you and everyone around you. The idea of sitting in a 10 hour class about firearm safety, mechanics, use, ammunition, maintenance and legal responsibilities sounded a little daunting but I had a great time. They made it so interesting that it seemed to take no time at all. Even the seasoned hunters in the class said they learned a lot and everyone in the class seemed to really enjoy themselves. I would not hesitate to recommend CDA to ANYONE looking to get their Concealed Carry License or simply looking to get comfortable with using a firearm.
