My brother suggested Civilian Defense Academy and I have been thrilled with them. In February I started with the Learn to Shoot class and absolutely loved it. They keep the classes small and only work with a few people at a time during the range portion. That was fantastic because James was right there to watch everything I was doing as I was loading and shooting the various firearms he provided for practice. He was there to answer all of my questions and offer suggestions on improving my form and accuracy. Yesterday I attended the Concealed Carry course to get my license. James and Bruce are very knowledgeable and put everyone at ease right from the beginning. They make it fun and really interesting while still being very professional and making sure to stress the importance of safety - for you and everyone around you. The idea of sitting in a 10 hour class about firearm safety, mechanics, use, ammunition, maintenance and legal responsibilities sounded a little daunting but I had a great time. They made it so interesting that it seemed to take no time at all. Even the seasoned hunters in the class said they learned a lot and everyone in the class seemed to really enjoy themselves. I would not hesitate to recommend CDA to ANYONE looking to get their Concealed Carry License or simply looking to get comfortable with using a firearm. I feel much safer and more confident moving forward having taken these courses.

Both James and Bruce are very knowledgeable and make your learning experience priority one while still keeping it fun. Nice, small class size. It seriously was the fastest 10 hour class ever! We were not done until we finished the written test and everyone was confident in what they learned. I will continue to suggest Civilian Defense Academy for CCW training as well as beginner shooting instruction!

You usually need expensive tools and skills that you might not have. ThinkBox is the place to go to solve this problem. It was opened in its current location in November, 2015. It is free to the public to use, except you need to pay for raw materials which you usually have to bring. There are multiple large bed laser cutters (24" x 36" and 36" x 48" bed size) that communicate with about 16 computer terminals. The terminals are connected to the internet, contain common design software, and are free to use. There are multiple 3D printers, both hobby and professional grade. You need to pay for material used. There is an area to allow you to build electronics, refine photos and create vinyl graphics. Also there are machine shops for metal and wood. There are basic safety rules that you will be instructed in and need to follow - no long sleeve shirts is a big one. For some tools you will need to pass a safety test in order to be able to use them. There is also an array of other tools that you can use. There are conference rooms for groups that you can use and reserve in advance. This is an amazing community resource for northeast Ohio.
