This park is absolutely great! It's always shaded no matter how hot it is. It's clean and normally has a lot of space for multiple dogs to run around and play. The entrance gate is a little confusing however & super heavy to life to get inside and out.

Honestly, this place could use a little more grass and be a little cleaner but for a dog park near so many major roads and highways, I think this quaint little place is perfect. I yelp'd some places to take my dog on a Thursday morning since he was tearing up the house and I was tired from trying to exhaust his energy on my own. I found this little gem on Yelp and since it was nearby my house, I thought why not? There is plenty of parking around the neighborhood on both sides of the BQE, so driving there wasn't really a problem. However, I did have a little trouble finding the place. There are two gates you have to cross before you enter the park which I think is perfect, and is considerate of all our babies' safety considering outside is a busy road where they could easily get hit! Please close each door before opening the next door!! The main play area is mostly cement, which I heard from another owner helps file their nails.. I didn't know that going in, but knowing that going out compels me to come even more! The water, as many reviews have said, is turned off during the winter. Most dog owners will bring their own bottled water and are very generous about sharing it with you. There are already a couple of big steel water/food bowls readily available to you (in case you didn't have your own little portable food bowl). The people who come here are really kind, both owners and dogs. The owners will bring toys here which dogs can use to cooperatively play together. I'm definitely extremely excited to come back in the summer to see how Mango likes the kiddy pools!!

Best doggie park in Queens. I bring my dog Simba there all the time. Met many wonderful dog owners and had a wonderful Halloween costumes party for our dogs. There is no other dog park in the area like this. You will feel comfortable bringing your dog to this park and sit for an hour without having to worry about your dog getting into fights. Most of the time the dogs will be playing and the owners would be standing around chatting.

    Having a blast!

This park is pretty nice. The dogs there were friendly, there are little pools for dogs, its a gated space, it has a dirt hill and it's pretty big. I took my dog here for her 1st birthday and she loved it! Disclaimer: the doors are kinda hard to open, which is good but you might look dumb opening them.

    Penny enjoying the dirt hill.

My pup and I love this park. I used to run her over (It's about a mile from my apartment) when I could, but now that I'm temporarily handicapped, we'll just drive here which works just fine. Penny is a really shy/fearful so she doesn't do well at other runs, where dogs are cramped in together. Sherry park is big enough so she can do her own thing and not be afraid of the bigger dogs coming too close uninvited. She really loves the dirt hill, as she's usually the most agile pup in the park and can weave through the trees and shrubs quickly and safely. Most owners are very nice and mindful, but you occasionally have a dog that in tact and extremely energetic, and sometimes just dogs that don't get along. That's unavoidable. The few drawbacks to this park are that it's big, so sometimes owners miss their dog's shit, and there can be some unhealthy garbage floating around. I think Penny ate a slim jim last time. Also, there's some broken glass on the dirt hill but I've never seen any dog get cut. Kind of amazing.

Our Husky Snow loves this park for the multiple kiddie pools they can jump in during hot summer days!

Great place for the pups to run, explore the shrubby-uphill area and cool off in the doggie pools in the summer. A bit of a walk from our apt, and feeling spoiled that Jackson Heights Canine Recreation Wonderland (JHCREW) is just a few blocks away, but we are lucky to have options. Our Husky Snow definitely loves this place, and so do we!

Pretty cool and clean. Location isn't great. My dogs wouldn't go in the pools on their own so I made them haha.

If there's dogshit, blame a fellow owner. It's not the fault of the premises. Until Astoria gets something else, this is all you've got people. So make it work.

The fencing, while far from being in the best of shape, runs consistently around the park and is void of gaps - basically, it does it's job regardless of the appearance. I check the perimeter regularly just in case anything has changed, but have yet to see a gap or hole that even a small dog could squeeze through. The bathroom is not that far away when needed - just across the street and on the other side of the track. There are no benches in the dog park, and while sometimes I wish there were, I'm usually up and about playing with the dogs anyway. The three star, A-OK review is more from the dogs than me. I've been in the park numerous times and the dogs there are always having fun. They don't care that it looks shabby and unkempt, or that it's not the hugest dog park they've ever seen, they just care about chasing balls, making friends, and doing their business. If it's OK for them, it's OK for me. Could this park use a little (ok, a lot) of TLC? Yes, definitely. Does it do the job of being a safe and fun place for dogs and their owners? Yes, despite it's dismal appearance.

It's still a nice park with swings, jungle gyms, and slides. There are two levels. One is a playground with a basketball court. The upper level is a lush green space. Five, structurally intact, well placed wooden benches allow for panoramic views or just a spot to plop down for a moment. The secondary and smaller fenced in section provides small dog owners the option if the full size portion had large breeds playing roughly. The street light on the landing of the stairwell of the bridge allows significant illumination inside the park. The double gates is exactly what all dog runs should incorporate into their infrastructure. Allowing the dog owner to leash or unleash in this quite ample staging area. Eight foot high fences insulates any dog from harm that may occur from the outskirts and keep potential riff raff on the outside. The golden doodle bit my dogs ear and the owner did not restrain him until later on when he saw the bleeding and that I was trying to leash up my pup. When I had my back turned, he left the park swiftly with his dog. Will not return to this park and I would avoid that dog if you see him. Such a shame because my dog got along with various sizes, breeds, and gendered dogs.
