    Just hanging around!

Luna takes me here every time I'm in Brooklyn. There is a closer park next to our home in Cobble Hill, but No, Luna loves Hillside, so Hillside it is. I can't blame her. The park is huge with plenty of space for her to catch a ball, run around with dog friends, or rest in a freshly dug hole. We usually spend a good hour and a half here and usually find kind, conscience dog parents who want our furry friends to let off some steam and tire themselves out after being stuck in the house while we're working. The park is clean, offers fresh water to drink or a hose to cool off. 4 stars! I'm a fan!

One of the bigger dog parks in NYC and also comes with a nice steep hill on one side for the dogs to wear themselves out. Benches for seating as well and plenty of tall trees for shade. It is however next to the BQE so you get a lot of noise from the vehicular traffic.

If you see this dog - or the owner, who is the guy in the orange hat, be aware! His dog bit my husband today after his dog was aggressively attacking our corgi. My husband removed our dog from the situation while I was trying to hold back the aggressive dog but with no success as the dog still managed to bite him - see last image. We spend all day at the emergency room. When we confronted the owner he didn't even say sorry and just packed his stuff and left. Please, if anyone knows the owner or the dog please reach out to us so he can get a second chance to apologize. This being the least he can do. Or if you see this dog at Hillside Dog Park - keep your dog away from this dog as it is aggressive.

Olive loves this run--great mix of dogs!

I've been going to this amazingly huge dog run in the past few weeks, since Olive moved to Brooklyn. She seems to like it better than even the Washington Square run--there are more good dogs! Seriously, Brooklyn Heights seems to be dominated by dogwalkers who walk dogs in packs of 8 and 10; as long as one walker drops by with her charges, there are plenty of opportunities to socialize. Hillside Dog Park is a huge sloping lot with many gates; it borders on a highway, but fortunately there's a high fence separating that from the run. The one thing I really don't like about this run is the chips-and-dirt surface; because of all the trees--which help prevent erosion--I really hope there aren't any plans to resurface it. Still, it can get muddy when it rains, and dusty when it's dry, just as First Run used to. There's also a grove of trees down one hillside, where dogs can play hide-and-seek. Often, I'm expected to walk Olive across the Brooklyn Bridge into Manhattan, but when I stay in Brooklyn for her 1-hour walk, Hillside Dog Park is the perfect place to spend the time.

I was visiting my girlfriend from Boston and brought my dog Nola to this park a few times. It is actually a great park itself, it is huge, there's always a lot of dogs there, it's all wood chips and it's generally a great time. There is one really bad part of the park that is making me write this review. The benches that were made around the trees in the park are EXTREMELY DANGEROUS to dogs. When we were at the park, my dog Nola was on the bench playing with a dog and as she jumped off she got her leg stuck in between the wooden boards and BROKE HER LEG. The slots between the wood on this bench are extremely wide, my dog Nola isn't even a small dog and she got her leg stuck in it. THESE BENCHES NEED TO BE REMOVED OR THE SLOTS NEED TO BE COVERED SOMEHOW. Definitely go to this park with your dog, but DO NOT LET THEM GO ON THE BENCHES.

Decently large dog park with seating areas and a water fountain for dog owners and a great deal of room for your loved one to run around and socialize with other dogs, with many on the weekend especially but not getting the feeling of too overcrowded. Seemed a little drab in terms of quality overall but other than that quite convenient in terms of place being nearby to the subways and ferry

My dog enjoys running around this huge open dirt park. Unlike most dog park, this place surprisingly doesn't reek of urine. A major plus is that there are multiple entrances and exits!

Cigars ARE a healthy alternative to cigarettes, don't let the mainstream media fool you... you won't catch me with a vape though I'm a grown ass man lol. Halfway through my cigar, the headrush starting to rattle my prefrontal cortex, I stumbled upon this "park." I guess we are using the word "park" as loosely as we are using the term "GOAT" now lol. This triangular "park" probably spans 500 ft in total surface area as it is essentially just a small intersection of 6th Ave and W Broadway. I'd take my estimate with a grain of salt though as Pythagoras had my number in high school geometry aahaahaha. I sat here ripping my cigar on one of the many open benches enjoying the architecture in the skyline, as the Jenga building stands tall watching over the "park." I think if I didn't have severe hyperhidrosis of the hands I would have been an architect. Seems like such an enriching profession, just seeing your work go from drafts on paper to actual buildings must be a beautiful feeling. In my humble and holier-than-thou opinion, staying in on New Years is a life hack and will be a chapter in the book I will continue to draft but never finish. I'd rather not pay $200 to get into an overrun hotel bar and wait 30 minutes for a watered down tequila soda. Thanks though. HAPPY 2024 Y'ALL LET'S GET THIS BREAD! IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov__

The best thing about George's Run was that it was huge, with plenty of room to run and play--and avoid the inevitable puddles. Now the run has been resurfaced to match First Run at Tompkins Square--meaning drainage will be superb. Unfortunately, they've been building their LEED-certified Green comfort station for the better part of a year, and the dog run is now just an afterthought. "We got really rooked when they moved the dog run," I said to a fellow dog walker. "Yeah," she agreed. You can now enter the run from the street, which is nice, and Kula likes it pretty well--because after all, who is it for anyway?--but I'm very disappointed they moved it from its original location. Kula is always confused when we pass where the old entrance used to be too, and wants to go in.

Though not as big as Stuyvesant Park, it has a relatively big area with benches, lots of dirt, a watering station (that doubles as a pool during hot days), tennis balls and loads and loads of pooper scoopers. Though the dirt/gravel is annoying when you're wearing sandals, let's be honest, you're here so your pooch can have some fun doggy style. There's a lot of rolling, digging, frolicking in makeshift puddles and general enjoyment -- so if your pup just had a bath, well, sorry, but this is what dog's do. We usually come in the mornings when it's a bit quieter and you don't have to fight through the tourists watching the break dancers. Late afternoons bring dozens of pups with their hungover caretakers clutching coffees -- but that makes good people watching for humans and dogs, alike!
