Near Charring Cross Station. Excellent place to grab a pint. We stopped in at 5 o'clock ish and the place was packed inside and out! Check it out!

Great atmosphere and location - very classic British pub feel. Service was friendly and efficient, even though the place was quite busy. Food was good overall - fish & chips were crispy and fresh, though the batter was a bit too thick and started falling apart. Halibut was the standout dish. Nice drink selection and desserts were solid - especially the toffee pudding. Would definitely recommend for a London pub experience. Just a bit of refinement on the food would make it a full 5 stars.

Pretty sure I've been here with a number of different friends over the years. Quaint decor based on Sherlock Holmes as the name states. Looks like they have a new deck seating which I don't remember seeing before but then again many of my trips were very early spring. Service was spot on with our servers being quick and attentive without being overbearing. I ordered my typical Steak and Ale pie and ranked it at an 8 with the gravy a 10. Chips were cooked well too. Our group had made reservations for 7:30 but arrive a bit early and was still quickly seated. I very much enjoy brining friends to this location for both the food and ambiance

Sherlock Holmes feels like a spot you must visit when in London... especially as a Sherlock fan! The restaurant has memorabilia from over the years which is enjoyable to see. I ordered the fish n chips which was well done! I enjoyed this meal and how crispy the battered fish was. The restaurant at the time I went was very busy, so try to go during off peak times in the day. Overall, a fun visit!

On our first day in London we stopped in on a whim while we were waiting for our hotel to be ready. As a Sherlock Holmes fan - what a neat experience. I love all the memorabilia of both Sherlock and sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The food was also delicious. I had a little steak sandwich and really enjoyed that. The bread was toasted perfectly and tasted fresh. I did not personally like the pickled red onions as they were sweet pickled which I am not a fan of. Not counting off any stars for it - just a statement and preference. I also enjoyed the onion rings and had a bite of my friends Mac and cheese which were both delicious. It was a very cozy place and the service was positively lovely. A great kick off to the trip!

Cool vibe. Stopped in based on the name alone. They had a really cool Sherlock Holmes room upstairs staged to look like his office. Had a drink rail and seating outdoors. We had a table inside for 2. Got some fish and chips and some local beers on draft. Fish and chips was light and fluffy. Local beer was great. This place did fill up. There wasn't a rhyme or reason to who got served at the bar , it was a little confusing at times. But cool atmosphere definitely recommend stopping here while in London. Close to the theatre district too.

Great service. I showed up without a reservation and they were able to fit me in upstairs. I had a Guinness with a Steak and Ale pie and chips. It was very solid pub food, and with the excellent service I'd recommend to anyone. I didn't spend a lot of time checking out the Sherlock Holmes stuff but that could be cool if you're in to that stuff. Regardless it's a nice and welcoming pub feel. Overall great visit, worth a drop in for sure.

We went around 1:30 on a Sunday, so both the ground floor bar and upstairs restaurant were busy. You definitely need a reservation to eat upstairs. We found a spot downstairs after a bit and ordered food. The steak and ale pie was great. My friend ordered the Sunday roast and enjoyed it as well. The Sherlock Holmes memorabilia was cool to see, including the study upstairs.

Nice and cosy place, especially on the first floor where the restaurant is. The interior of the restaurant is decorated with the Sherlock Holmes theme, creating atmosphere of history and mystery. The memorabilia can be seen through the large glass window, which probably makes sense. The food was good and reasonably priced for the area. Sherlock Holmes ale was very good.

Given the location, I knew it was probably a tourist trap and I wish to avoid those usually but had no time so stopped in on a Monday afternoon for lunch. I'm so glad I did! I was in London only briefly and had yet to try proper fish and chips and I was definitely WOW'd. I've only had this in America, and this was definitely better than anything I've ever had. When it arrived on my table, I could feel the heat from the plate -- that's how scalding hot and fresh it was, and I loved that! The cod was absolutely massive, a thick portion of fish deep fried with the skin on within an incredibly crunchy beer batter. There were pieces of bone in it, but no bother, this only made it seem more fresh. The chips (thick cut fries) were perfectly crispy and both the fish and chips were insanely delicious with a bit of salt and malt vinegar (which I had to request by walking up to the bar). The dish came with a tartar sauce and ketchup, but tasted way better with the salt and vin. I absolutely love that the fish and chips also came with mushy peas, whereas most pubs only give you fish and chips alone. The dish was also very well priced at 9.95 GBP, and I was able to use my credit card, rounded up to 10 GBP because they have a 10 GBP minimum for using cards. I appreciate that this restaurant had free wi-fi, which I found out by asking my waiter, who quickly provided the secret code for me to use. In America you would never ask your server for this but I noticed that nearly every hotel and restaurant I visited during my 11-day tour of Europe offered wi-fi. Good on them, because how else would I check in to a restaurant on Yelp and shower them with praise and circulate promotional foodie photos on Instagram? During a weekday, many workers nearby flood this place to grab a pint during lunch....now, why don't I work in London? I would give this place five stars based on the food alone, but I am giving it four because I wished the service had been more attentive, as I had to go up to the bar to get malt vinegar and also to ask to pay my bill. I understand service in Europe is more laissez-faire than in America, but since this is a tourist spot I would have liked to be checked on by the staff at least once during my meal, and certainly to be presented with the bill. Note: They also serve Sunday roast dinner for 9.95 GBP on Sundays

Being from the states I am not as familiar with all the UK brands --- but they seem to offer a wide variety of beers (lots on tap) and cocktails. TIP: I recommend hitting this place before 5:30 on the weekdays as the happy hour crowd fills this join up.

We arrived just after the work day, and the crowd was buzzing just outside. We did the self-seating option indoors, and sat down to a great view of the Thames river, as we pondered our meal choices from the menu. The location is just great. For a leadoff drink, I had to go with the house cask ale, which was the Fuller's ESB, a drink I've been enjoying since the 1990's, and it delivered as expected. I went with an order of Sausages with mashed potatoes and peas...it doesn't get much more classic than that, and I was happy with it, especially with the quantity (3 sausages!). Wifey was on the hunt for a meat pie, and she went with the Steak, Ale & Mushroom Pie, which I can report was wholeheartedly approved. One of the better pies we've had on the overall trip, and the best we had at a pub location. The overall vibe of this pub is exactly as you might picture it, and we weren't disappointed with any aspect. Service, though not overly patient (hey - they were busy), was competent and pleasant. Cheers!
