We've stayed here multiple times while visiting family in Duluth. This stay was disappointing. We are #bonvoy members, so requested higher floor, drink as our gift, and extra towels on their website. None of that happened. The room (322) had quite a lot of mold in the shower pan, and wallpaper was peeling above the bed. Carpet felt dirty. Tipped housekeeping both days, but had to talk directly to them to get room cleaned and was barely done. Not sure if this downhill trend is because of the #spg #marriott merger, but it's sad to see. Reserved online and requested a King bed. Even called the hotel to confirm our reservation. When we arrived, we were given a room with the wrong bed. The response was pretty much " Too bad." The next morning we ran into a family with 3 kids in a King room, while we had a room with 2 double beds. Also, a 3.5 star hotel with no fridge in the room??? Definitely not a top choice for us. Also, the "breakfast for 2" option seems to be only available for some customers, but not others. I typically travel 60-80 days a year. I did not find the service to be up to par for other Sheraton hotels. read more

What a stupendous hotel right in the heart of Duluth! Complimentary parking, decent rates, pet-friendly at no extra cost, nice pool and spa, and walking distance from much of the area attractions and restaurants. The beds are extremely comfortable, one side has great views of the lake, the bathrooms are spacious, showers are more than comfortable, and each room has a large flat-screen television. FYI... parking is found in the enormous parking structure behind the hotel, accessible from 1st Street. Take a green ticket to enter, and park in a none-hourly parking space (2nd level, I think). There is a sky-way connecting to the hotel, and once you check in your room keys get you in'n'out of the lot. read more

While in Duluth once a year on business, I always stay here. Well apportioned, clean rooms with a nice staff. Gym, pool & hot tub are a big plus. The restaurant is actually very good, and Josh the bartender is super-friendly and accommodating. The hotel is right in downtown, close to pretty much everywhere you need to go. There's a shuttle with a friendly driver that takes you wherever, so you don't need to hassle with taxis. Note: if you require a HDMI input on the television for any media devices, only the sixth floor (club floor) rooms have them. read more

Room was clean and quiet. Staff was friendly for the most part. Several things happened during our stay that will probably push us to stay somewhere else next time. Noticed lipstick on a glass as soon as we got into the room. They corrected this immediately, but it shouldn't have happened in the first place. Room service breakfast that was scheduled in advance was late, overpriced, and missing silverware that we had to wait for. Wifi was free, but so slow it was unusable. The biggest problem was that our bill had several discrepancies that had to be addressed twice until it was corrected. When asked "how was your stay" at checkout, we were honest about the problems we had. The employee said "oh well, that's life. If everything were perfect I'd worry something was wrong." one star because the staff was very helpful and apologetic. 1. the hotel looks like a motel 6 from the exterior. Does not fit into the towns architecture. 2. warm water comes out of the cold facets 3. the hallways were damp and smelled of MOLD! 3a. because it is pet friendly hotel our room floor was shampooed and the was still wet! 4. the frontage street is being torn up and there is only access from the parking garage. 5. they say they will be doing a 1.5 million renovation...I think they should tear it down and start over! read more

Really nice, comfortable, quiet hotel! The free parking was great and the location really can't be beat, downtown and near great restaurants and shops. There's also a continental breakfast and snacks in the club room that can be purchased for an additional fee at booking, but unless you're in a big hurry in the morning, I wouldn't recommend it. The snacks and breakfast food were pretty sub-par, other than the fresh fruit. Best moment of my stay: calling to ask where I could buy deodorant (mine was forgotten). In less than 5 minutes, I had a half stick of Speed Stick delivered to my door, free of charge! read more

I stayed at this hotel a few weeks ago. I had two children with who wanted to swim in the pool. We were told the pool was out of service. Later we found out the pool has been out of service for about one month. The staff was very matter of fact about the outage but only said sorry. I left my name and phone number for the manager but never received a call. Sad to see a marriott facility in this shape run by people who just don't care. read more

Easily the nicest hotel in downtown Duluth, and perhaps the whole city. Top of the heap for business travelers. First off let me admit that I am big into clean, fresh and new - this hotel is all of those and not many in Duluth are. So my 4 stars are relative to the other offerings in town. Staff was very pro, going out of their way to provide great service, and on one occasion offering me a better $$ deal so that I didn't go elsewhere. Location is good unless you have to be right on the water, adjacent to the lake walk you are literally a 5 minute walk to the shore. Several good restaurants along Superior Street and just minutes away from the Canal Park complex. Parking is free, albeit a bit cumbersome to get to as noted in other reviews. The only true negative I experienced is that the hotel is not connected to the extensive skywalk network of hamster tubes that runs through most of downtown, so during the winter months you have to brave the elements. This property has become my go-to place for housing business visitors and out of town guests. read more

We arrived at 5:20 pm for a two-night stay and discovered the front entrance of the hotel was inaccessible owing to street closure for a major construction project. I had to phone the front desk from my car to discover how to get into the hotel. And this in a major city with dense auto traffic and no parking spaces on the street! It turned out to be at least the length of a city block to walk by skyway from the parking garage to the hotel lobby. Luggage trolleys should have been left at the garage for arriving guests during the construction. Patrons shouldn't have to go fetch a trolley, wheel it to the garage, and then to the lobby. Having finally reached the front desk, we were told our room was not ready yet. What? At 5:40 pm the room isn't ready?!? We were asked if we would accept a room with two queen beds instead. Well, no, not at Sheraton rates. Finally, after much consultation back and forth between the two clerks at the front desk, we were assigned a room two floors up from the one originally intended for us. This room had apparently been available all along! Next day, returning to our room about 6:30 pm after a day of sightseeing, we discovered our towels were still on the floor where we had left them and the bed wasn't made. Called the front desk. We were told COVID policy mandated no housekeeping visits during multi-day stays. Fine, but why didn't anyone tell us? "You should have received a handout with the policy at check-in." Nope, no one gave us the handout or told us the policy. I should say that within minutes we had clean towels, replacement coffee, and a copy of the COVID policy. Even so, a major shakeup at the front desk is required. And after one has booked the hotel online, they should receive an email explaining how to actually get into the hotel and how to use the temporary unloading zone on a side street, which the clerk didn't tell me about when I initially phoned from my car. The room was great, restaurant service was excellent, and free garage parking (especially for an urban hotel) was good. But the front desk is appalling, enough to make us avoid this hotel in the future and think very hard before staying again at Sheraton. I should note the hotel credited us with $50 for our pains--hardly worth it. read more

A change in travel plans made my arrival for my most recent trip delayed by one day - the hotel refused to provide a refund or credit for a future stay. HORRIBLE policy, to alienate a customer over a $140.00 charge - there are many, many great hotel options in Duluth, I'll be choosing a different hotel in the future - hope you do also. read more

My wife and I got married in Duluth on 10-19-19 and we requested a block of rooms at the Sheraton hotel since it was connected to our wedding venue. A year prior, we were there to look at the venue and to get our block of rooms at the hotel.. they had told us to block only 30 rooms for around 250 guests. We explained several times a majority of our guest were traveling from the cities or out of state but insisted 30 rooms would be adequate. Well fast forward to months before our wedding when the block of rooms were all booked and they didn't have any additional rooms available due to MEA weekend. Several of our close friends and family had to book at different hotels and Sheraton would have cared less... As guest arrived, they had to wait several hours (if not longer) since their rooms were not ready. They told us the road out in front would be done by the time our wedding but it was still a disaster. Overall, our wedding went perfect aside from Sheraton and the way they treated our guests. read more

I can't say anything negative about my experience here. The rooms were impeccably clean and very comfortable. I enjoyed the fitness center and access to validated parking through a ramp to the adjacent garage. The location was unbeatable too, especially over the July 4th holiday. Service was prompt and friendly; I needed a fridge in my room and it was quickly brought over. I will definitely be staying here next time I am in Duluth. read more

My wife and I recently stayed here for 3 nights during a business/pleasure trip and we're glad that we did! This is the nicest hotel in Downtown Duluth and I can say this because we have been visiting this city for many years and have stayed in all the other downtown hotels. The hotel staff was friendly and professional. Our room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. The bar and restaurant were awesome. The location is close to the Lake. What's not to like about this place? The only minor problem involves parking. It's quite a hike from the parking garage to the hotel but parking is free with ticket validation at the front desk. We'll be back to Duluth often and, whenever we're in town, we'll stay at this hotel. read more

Although the service was great, the linens were gross. Had a stained blanket and a stained pillow case on the bed the first night. Asked for new linens the next day. They replaced the blanket but not the pillow. It was not the cleanest. We also ate at the 301 for breakfast and although it was good food my husband found a hair in his food. read more

I booked lodging in Duluth for an interview at $99/night. This hotel is definitely very nice and clean with some good amenities. My only disappointment is that Wi-Fi is not free and costs $5 a day. For cheaper hotels I've stayed in, Wi-Fi was free so I don't know why the Sheraton can't get with the program and provide free Wi-fi to all the roomed guests. Even though there is a business station with free access to internet in the lobby as well as a printing station complimentary to guests, the usage time is limited as there are other guests. Breakfast is not free, however there is a gym available. Lots of restaurants surround the hotel so it's not exactly void of good eats, but it may definitely be absent of a good night life. Shampoo, conditioner, lotion, blow dryer, iron and board, and Starbucks coffee are available in the room. read more

My fiancee and I tried to block off rooms at this hotel as it seemed like a great location for our guests to stay. We were told that there were plenty of rooms available for this occasion and that we just needed to get in contact with Doug Bremer, their reservations specialist about it. We did so immediately and he took ages and ages to get back to any of our attempts to contact. Eventually after leading us around by the nose for two weeks he unceremoniously informed us that there was no way he could block rooms out for that weekend and all guests would have to call in and book individually with no group rate. If you are trying to schedule your event, I would steer FAR away from the Sheraton and Doug Bremer. read more

Stayed here for a night after a wedding that was up at Larsmont. Liked the location, the staff were friendly, the view from our lake-facing window was awesome, the room was clean and the bed comfortable. The bathroom doors were a bit on the odd side and didn't make the bathing or pooping experiences as private as one hopes that they would be, but that's a minor quibble. A quibble of a more significant size is the location of their parking, which feels like it might be several miles from the hotel when you're walking to or from the hotel with your bags. I recommend, if you are able, to drop off all luggage and as many peeps as you can at the door and send the driver off to Guam to find the parking. Upon their return they will need proper hydration and a bit of time to rest. Send that poor soul off to fetch the car when the time comes and load up from the doors of the hotel upon departure. Parking is complimentary at least, so that is something that you can ruminate on and appreciate as you walk. Paid wi-fi in hotels that charge as much as this one is super-lame, but I know these mega-chains are not going to change, so no use in griping about it. I would stay here again. read more

Worst customer service I have EVER received. My family was staying on the 6th floor, we are SPG Platinum Members and that is the club level where the breakfast that's included in your stay is served. We were on the elevator and it banged and bumped and then dropped one floor. We were all scarred but my son was traumatized by the event. We pushed the call button and a loud message played stating where we were and which elevator car we were in and about 30 seconds later a person came on the speaker asking questions including if we were "at the Hampton Inn". I told them no that we were at the Sheraton. That person appeared to be very disconnected so we called 911 for assistance. After respectively hitting the door open button it slid open between floors and we exited. We walked down the stairs to the first floor Carrington all of our bags and the door at the bottom said "Alarm Will Sound" but we had no option so we exited but no alarm sounded (wow more mechanical problems ). Now we found ourselves on the side and had to carry our bags around the block to the front of the hotel. We spoke to the hotel manager Madeline. We informed her as to what happened and then she was engaged with a young front desk clerk named Tiffany speaking about the elevator as if we were no longer present but we were right in front of her. Then we asked to be moved to a room on the lowest floor. She said she could get us into a room on the second floor which we accepted. Then she asked what else she could do for us and we mentioned that our son was scared and not willing to ride the elevator again so we would appreciate having our breakfast either by room service or in the first floor restraint rather than going to the 6th floor club room. Madeline said there was nothing she could do about the breakfast and that we could TAKE THE STAIRS TO THE 6th FLOOR. We were shocked but she was serious. We told her that was ridiculous and asked how we could get to the 2nd floor room without exiting the building. She did NOT offer to have our bags moved to the room. Rather she lead us (while we carried our bags) to an internal star access. This was crazy poor service for anyone but for people that stay 70+ nights per year at their properties it's appalling! read more

Came to Duluth for a destination wedding and stayed at the Sheraton for 2 nights. The rooms (and the whole facility for that matter) were clean, very fresh, new and modern -- it was just great. I didn't see the ladies at the front desk smiling much, BUT the service was good, and any questions that I needed answered were attended to. Just to be clear, they were not smiling, but they were not rude. The bed and bathroom were just great -- we slept well both nights. Beware -- the service in their dining room is slow; other reviewers have pointed out that you can eat elsewhere. The shuttle van was complimentary and took us anywhere we wanted to go without delay. This was a real pleasure. I would highly recommend this hotel. read more

First the pluses: Nate, at the front desk, was extremely friendly. And he remembered my name - even two days later! The rooms are clean and the beds comfortable. The elevators operate efficiently. I never had to wait more than 30 seconds for an elevator. Now the minuses: Noise. Traffic on the brick streets creates quite a bit of road noise. Unfortunately, my room was on the second floor. Then there was the HVAC noise. It sounded like a shopvac running in the room next door. It was loud enough that I was unable to sleep the first night. The next morning Nate acknowledged the problem (it's particularly noticeable in room 232 and anywhere at the elevator end of the hall), and moved me to room 204 at the far end of the hall. If I stay here again, I'll opt for a room on the upper floors. read more

I stayed at the Sheraton for 12 nights in January when my husband was in St. Mary's. The staff couldn't have been nicer. They brought me a microwave and fridge so I could eat in my room. The free shuttle to and from hospital was great at night. The drivers are so caring. Being connected to the hospital through skyways was so nice. My room was clean and quiet. I highly recommend this hotel! read more

I've stayed here before and had no problems. This time the front desk attendant tried to charge me $450.00 for a room....a room I eventually paid $150.00 for. I don't like that at all. Have fair standard pricing, post it in the lobby and go from there. Nobody is paying $450.00 for a hotel room in Duluth. It's not Manhatten. The person who stayed in my room previously had long black hair. Would you like to know how I know that? Because I found it everywhere in my room. It was in the bedding, on the pillows, on the remote, on the desk, on the wall of the bathroom and on one of the towels. Gross. Clean the room you dirty, greedy Duluthians! read more

I stayed here one night with a friend. We were driving across the northern states from Alberta to Ontario. We miss judged our arrival time and didn't get in until after 1am. The front desk agent was very nice and greeted us at the door. He was very quick to check us in and gave us very easy directions on where to park and how to get to our room. I am giving them four stars just for one little reason... When I worked at a high end/high volume hotel as a front desk agent at a ski resort i would accommodate guests who were supposed to arrive but ended up not getting checked in until after midnight with a room that had a view. If they were only spending one night, but drove all the way to go skiing for a day and they 1) got lost driving there or 2) had issues making them late, I would want them waking up to something that would make them happy to be staying at the hotel. For example, a view of the mountain or a view of the lake. We woke up to a view of the first floor's gravel roof and a metal wall that was sheltering the giant A/C unit. I know the hotel wasn't full at the time, but that little extra that staff do for guests not only would give the hotel great service, it would give them a great reputation. This is all being said from experience from a past job. I will say though, the room was very clean, beds were cozy and so comfy! And we didn't have to check out until noon :) read more
