Typical fitness center for a Fairfield (some treadmills, elliptical, two benches, dumbbell rack, exercise ball). Indoor pool is right next to the fitness center. The quiche that they served for the free breakfast was FIREEE but I know they change up their breakfast every day so it's not always available. I will absolutely be staying here again next time I come to Duluth.

The lobby was large open and welcoming. It is two levels and I am not sure if there is an elevator or not since there was no mention of that when we checked in and we took steps. The breakfast was good. We thought it was a very quiet Motel since we didn't hear much of anything. We had room 215 and it was clean but my only two complaints are that the bathroom fan was broken and there was a small bit of mold or maybe it was peeling in the corner of the shower. Which kind of grossed me out. We did not use pool area but it looked very nice. We will return in the future since we visit Duluth a lot and the pricing here can't be beat for the location. It may not be right in the heart of Duluth or on the lake but it's also at least 100 dollars cheaper a night and It is only about 10 minutes to Canal Park area.

This Inn sparkles with cleanliness! I notice details like baseboards, corners and shelves. Each railcar is decorated in a different theme. We stayed in the newly appointed Lighthouse Room. The lamps were shaped like lighthouses, the room was tastefully decorated with Lighthouse pictures and memorabilia, and the hallway that connects each railcar was built reminiscent of a rail yard and train station. When I called to make the reservation. I actually spoke with one of the owners. Cindy. She was personable and friendly. She is the epitome of a fantastic bed& breakfast-type Innkeeper. We met her at the Inn and she was funny and very welcoming. The food was good. They had your typical fare offered at most hotels. The only reason they didn't get a 5 star rating from me is I feel like they could develop a "trademark item" with their breakfast to go with the theme as well. The location is perfect for a quiet weekend or even a Northshore vacation. It's nestled in the wilderness and just a very short ride to Lake Superior. I highly recommend this Inn if you would like to relive some locomotive history!

The communal fire pit at the front of the resort is an awesome place to get to know the other visitors. We were down there every night getting to know people, it was a nice way to rewind before bed. Although there were wine glasses, there was no cork screw in the room. Although there are big candles in the bathroom there is no matches provided to light them. The s'mores kit we were provided had stale marshmallows. One of the bathroom sink bowls had some kind of unsightly chemical damage. In-room TV is small (20") and low quality. Refrigerator froze our milk solid. I'd be fine with the issues of this place, if the price was lower. For the price they are charging, none of these cons should exist.

Overall, I would stay here again. I love Two Harbors and the entire area. It's much better than going to Lake Tahoe bc there's little to no traffic & Lake Superior is the biggest freshwater lake in America.

Very well kept up with cabins that are mostly right on the water. They offer the best views and great access to Lake Superior. Small kitchens are in the cabins as well as your basic necessities. No TV as this cabin is for relaxing and unwinding. There are small bbqs at each cabin and they now offer the use of their bikes if you want to hit the surrounding trails. Kayaks along with life vests are also around for the more adventurist person. The office cabin offers books and board games and you can always spend your nights around the campfire as there is plenty of firewood ($5) to use. All in all it remains the experience I remember from my youth. Great views, fresh air, clean cabins and a great time with family.

We walked up Superior Street to Duluth Trading Co, a very cute shop called Hucklebeary, Fitgers, and Portland Malt Shoppe, then all the way back to the inn. And do not miss Duluth's Best Bread!! It's so easy to venture around Canal Park and even the aquarium is walking distance (use the Slip bridge just past Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory). I loved the layout of the room. The bed and pillows were so comfy, and there was a cute bar seating set-up looking out the windows - although could be awkward if people are on the patio. There's a mini-fridge, microwave, and coffee maker with a pitcher-thing of water. You get two BOGO beer coupons from Fitgers as well, which is a fun treat. The only downside is that it's the last hotel/inn on the hotel row, right behind a public beach and lakefront walk, with a public bathroom adjacent to it in a small "park" (grassy area). This meant that unfortunately yes, the other reviews are true and there are some skeezy looking people specifically loitering in the bathroom area. My boyfriend and I sat on the front patio for breakfast, walked the lakefront walk during the day and evening, but felt that sticking to the inner road (Canal Park Drive) at night was best as a precaution. We kept the blinds closed in the room whenever we weren't there but never felt unsafe in the first floor room. Like any other city, just be aware of your surroundings especially at night and you'll be fine! There is a sauna (we didn't use it because it's outdoors on the side patio and just felt weird), cornhole, and a small fire pit with chairs looking out towards Superior. The building is old, so we heard our neighbors walking and talking upstairs. With the tv on it wasn't bad, plus the inn has "quiet hours" 10pm-8am that everyone surrounding us followed. You do have to be pretty self-sufficient to stay here. Everything is key code access, no physical keys or cards. There aren't staff or front desk or even common areas (besides the outdoor fun spaces) on-site so if you need help you have to call/text them between 8am-8pm. Our a/c didn't work the first night (and the windows don't open), and when I texted about the issue the following morning the issue was quickly taken up and solved within a few hours by the manager on duty. Thanks Kristin!! If it wasn't for the sweltering hot first night and the sketchy park people, definitely would have given this stay 5 stars!!
