General - This is one of my favorite places to stay when visiting the Duluth area. Location - This hotel is located on a small strip of land called Minnesota Point (a small, long island adjacent to the city's port). You get to drive over the iconic lift bridge to get to the area. There is a great beach area just down the road but the hotel is still close enough to walk into town to enjoy shopping and dining in Canal Park. The hotel overlooks the harbour, so if you stay here during the shipping season, it makes for a great place to watch boats coming in and out of the port. Rooms & Building - Rooms are very clean and modern with plenty of space and seating for a family to enjoy. Most of the rooms offer a patio that overlooks either the port or parking lot with views of the city. The building is kept in immaculate condition and offers a great mix of nautical and woodsy decor, a perfect setting that represents Duluth. Amenities - The hotel has a pool/hot tub/sauna as well as a large breakfast area and lounge with a fireplace. The pool was heated to a nice temp and the hot tub had good jets. Other amenities include hot towels, S'mores station during select nights, self-serve coffee bar and shuttle services to Canal Park. Food - There is a free breakfast buffet offered with your stay. Classic hot offerings with continental choices make for a filling breakfast with many options to pick from. There is no restaurant onsite but there is a small bar that offers some bar food and a small menu of canned drinks. Vibe - Easy going and super friendly staff. No complaints. Reality vs. Online - Pictures that I saw on their website and online matched the quality and condition of the hotel and rooms in-person. No surprises. Price & Final Verdict - When the price is right, this hotel is an easy #1 spot for me to pick, either for work or pleasure. The area is easy to get to while being right in the middle of one of the busiest areas of Duluth. The nautical setting and extra amenities adds to the enjoyment of the port and lakeside environment. read more

Given my last two stays in Duluth the hotels let me down. This hotel was lovely. The staff let us check in early and were very polite and hospitable. The room was lovely with a nice view of the harbor and very clean. The pool was nice albeit a little on the small side especially if busy. The tv could be better no smart options and no menu to see what is on. The bathroom was very clean and spacious. They also have washers and dryers and a workout room. read more

Duluth budget pick I loved it for the most part One tiny complaint Hotel rates in Duluth have gone crazy over the past five years or so. Most of the chain places in downtown are charging several hundred dollars for a weekend night. Found this place on booking.com for 98 or 99 a night. With taxes, I think it was 113. The location is just the on the east side of the Aerial Lift bridge and a very short walk over the bridge to the nightlife district. Rooms have a fridge. Breakfast was included in the rate. There are happy hour specials at the bar, but I did not partake. They do message and text you quite a bit. Even got a call to my room a couple minutes after arriving to make sure everything was OK. Didn't mind any of that. My one complaint is that checkout time is 10:30AM. Move it back to noon and this is probably a five star review. P.S. Try booking directly through them rather than a third party site. One of their text messages to me said they will match any rate from any third party site. read more

This hotel is...fine. At $250 a night it is overpriced. Even if it were priced more reasonably, the "thin" trifecta needs to be addressed: thin toilet paper, thin blankets, and, worst of all, thin walls. It is a nice place in front of the bay. Pretty quiet. No DOGS allowed. Nice! The receptionists are very hospitable and kind. The only thing that I need to remark is the cleanliness. Neither, I or the classmate who I was staying with smoke, nor did we even go out onto the balcony. One of the best hotel to stay in Duluth. The location is great. One of the only places you can book a 1 night during summer months or weekends. The pool was clean and warm. Hot tub was a bit small but still great that they had one. There's free breakfast so can't complain. There's also free parking. Management was friendly and helpful. I wouldn't really buy anything from the hotel shop (goggles were crappy) but it's nice they have one in case you need anything. Overall, great hotel and will keep coming back. read more

The location is good just out on the spit. Fun view of the harbor. The aerial bridge is up a lot, so if you are worried about time-constraints this may not be for you since you may need to wait 15 or 20 minutes to get on or off the spit. Easy walking distance to the downtown area with many restaurants and the canal. Our room was clean, the bed comfortable, the water-pressure in the shower good. The breakfast buffet is actually spread across several rooms so take a look around. I found the biscuits and gravy (my favorite) around the corner after originally being disappointed thinking they did not have it. Staff at checkout and check in were friendly and efficient. Enjoyed the deck for watching the boats. Not sure what constitutes calling this a resort versus just a nice hotel but we did like it and would have no problem staying here again. read more

I recently stayed here for a weekend with my brother, his sons (5 and 3 years old) and my dad. We all loved it! The suite was updated, clean, large, comfortable, with picturesque views! We couldn't have asked for a better spot to spend the weekend, watch boats, relax, etc. The location, just over the Lift Bridge, was close enough to the hub of Canal Park, but just far enough for the area to be quiet, and for us to feel tucked away. The staff at the hotel (Eric was the manager most of the time we were there), was incredibly knowledgable, friendly and helpful -- even able to answer the questions my dad had about the ships out our window, and the shipping schedule! We had a LOVELY TIME at this place, and we stayed during Covid. Excellent precautions were taken. When we checked in we were given a packet with hand sanitizer and wipes (we also brought our own) and we're informed of all going on. Our room was roomy and comfortable and pretty clean. I wiped everything down with Clorox wipes, and did notice that the headboards had finger prints, etc....so they hadn't been cleaned :/ but other than that things were good. The breakfast was a packaged grab and go situation... and they had a great evrning camp fire out back. Adorable place, loved the vintage images of Duluth everywhere, and the balcony and the view of Marina. We would definitely stay here again! read more

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL IF HERE ON HOCKEY TOURNAMENT!!!!! We were assigned here by the hockey tournament. The hotel itself is clean enough, nothing special. The breakfast was OK but is a joke that they advertised 73 items. We counted and only way they got there is by counting the tea packets, sugar packets, etc. Really consisted of make your own waffle, eggs, sausage, toast, fruits and a couple other items. You can get this breakfast from Days Inn. The staff need some serious training. The lady that checked me in was all business, didn't greet just asked for name and credit card. Didn't think too much of it until the next day until who I presume was a manager came into the hospitality room our team was in. Again no hi how are you or anything, just told everyone right away no sticks or nets in the building. Mind you this is knee hockey set with a plastic ball. I understand nothing in the hallways or common spaces but to say no in the hospitality suites is ridiculous. Don't allow hockey teams in your hotel if you don't want this as we need to entertain the kids between games. Personally with the high rates, nothing special accomodations and poor staff, especially the manager, I will never stay at this hotel anytime of the year. Would highly recommend skipping this and staying at any of the other hotels across the bridge in Canal Park. If you get assigned here by a tournament demand they place you elsewhere!!!!!! read more

I canceled 48 hours prior to check-in, & they refused to work with me on a credit, or a refund. That is Horrible Customer Service, in my opinion! This hotel is a good value across the lift bridge from Canal Place. You do trade of convenience for value, to make up for it there is a shuttle that can help save you a 15 minute walk to the bridge. The rooms are large, clean, modern. The free breakfast was great - great coffee, eggs, meats, cereals, juices, etc. and well-attended (vs other free breakfasts where they are constantly out of items). There is a large parking lot. Also a good-sized pool. They do a nice job of informing when the Lake Superior ships are coming in and what the local daily events are. I would stay here again! read more

Horrible customer service from the "Trainee" at the front desk. We booked three rooms a couple months in advance and the hotel canceled one of the rooms in error. When asked if it would be able to be fixed we were left in limbo for almost 2 hours without a solution. We finally asked to be honest if we could get the extra room and Richard finally admitted that there would be no way to accommodate us. We were then handed a list of hotels to call ourselves to book 3 rooms the night of. I am not impressed on how this matter was handled being that we traveled from hundreds of miles away to enjoy the beautiful city of Duluth. Great hotel in a convenient location. Located near Canal Park. They have shuttles every hour to Canal Park which is nice. Otherwise, the hotel is clean and everything appears to be in working order. Staff are friendly. The beds are comfortable especially after hiking all day. Bathroom was clean as well. The marina is pretty cool. There's a fire pit outside and it's a scenic view. Parking is plentiful. There's free breakfast as well. They cover the basics eggs, sausage, coffee, and fruit. You can make your own waffles! If I was visiting Duluth again, I would book Park Point Marina Inn. read more

As soon as I heard the words, "We were able to accommodate your request" upon check-in, I knew we were in for a good stay. The request had been for a room with a harbor view. It was stunning as we were there at both sunset and sunrise. The complimentary breakfast was more than I expected and it meant we didn't have to go looking around for somewhere else to go before a full day of discovering Duluth. Our room was clean and welcoming. The location, within walking distance of the Aerial Lift Bridge, meant we took advantage of an early morning walk to Canal Park. Shuttle service is available during the evenings to take guests across the bridge to the local business district. Having opened just over a year ago, Park Point Marina Inn is a wonderful addition to the area. Even though Park Point Marina Inn was not our first choice before we arrived I would recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in Duluth. I know I'd stay there again. read more

Wow! We loved this place! It's brand new and whoa how 'bout that view? Very clean, and a great location. We were on the third floor with a picture-perfect view of the Aerial Bridge and sailboats in the pier. We arrived after dark and seeing the bridge and hill lit up was such an excitement. We could even watch the huge ships come in from our bedroom window! Overall they did a wonderful job decorating and designing this hotel. It's so fun to stay on Park Point - we could walk everywhere at Canal Park. Close to the bridge, restaurants, shops, the Lighthouse museum, horse and carriage rides, and the lake walk! read more

I ended up staying here as it was the highest rated hotel I could book with my Chase travel points. Honestly, I was completely unaware I was actually staying in Duluth and not Superior, but I was pretty happy non the less. Additionally, its a stone's throw to the local "canal" area which I'm guessing is a local hot spot, if it wasn't 20 degrees outside when I visited. The hotel rooms are pretty nice. They have a hot tub and pool with adult hours at the end of the night. They serve cheap, but worth trying local frozen pizzas 24/7. And they run an hourly shuttle to the "canal" area. I would definitely consider staying here again if i was in the area. read more

I didn't end up staying there because I had a family emergency the morning of my reservation. After I called Hotels.com and they explained my situation, the gentleman I spoke with was great in helping me ask for either a refund or a change of date. After the hotel said they had a strict policy, I called the hotel myself to explain the situation. I can't believe they can't make an exception when a family member is taking their last breath. The manager of the hotel just kept telling me that they have a strict cancellation policy, the rest of the hotel was full, and it was highly unlikely that they would be able to resell that room. They could have easily refunded my money or offered a change of date. I'm highly disgusted they don't have an emergency clause. Hopefully that's something they will look into in the very near future so this doesn't happen to anyone else. read more

This was my second stay at this location, we returned based on a great earlier experience here. Our stay was excellent again. The person checking us in tried to give us a hard time for checking in early (1pm for a 3:30 formal check in time). I stay at hotels for work all of the time, and I have never been given a hard time about this before - I recognize the room may not be ready, but I'm giving it a shot and trying. You can say no rooms are ready. But don't give me a hard time about it. Aside from that minor annoyance, the overall stay was excellent, and I will happily return. read more

We stayed here for two nights and had a good experience. The room was clean and nicely decorated but maybe a tad smaller than most hotel rooms I have stayed at in the area. There was no issue going down the road to get to the place so not sure what others were talking about in previous posts. We have stayed at many hotels in Canal Park area and I feel like this is kind of a hidden gem since it's cheaper and quieter. Smaller sized pool but they have a nice outdoor play area and fire area as well. Not super close to Canal Park but they have a shuttle. I would say it's maybe a 10 or 15 minute walk each way if you wanted to walk. Very close to Park Point beach which is about a block away.Breakfast is the buffet style with several options Service was above average and the staff were super friendly! read more

Great experience! Friendly and thorough staff, in a clean and modern facility. They tightly pack a lot of amenities into their lobby space. There is a "bar", and a snack bar/convenience store, both being small alcoves off of either side of the front desk. At times, there are complimentary cookies right at the counter. There are vending machines, free hot beverages, and you can even order regionally produced frozen pizza to be heated and brought to your room. I kind of love that concept, but did not take advantage. After observing the very efficiently and snugly convenience loaded lobby area, we headed to our room. It was a comfortable size, not a tourist cramming shoebox type. In fact, the bathroom seems rather huge. I have noticed this trend in newer hotels. I actually prefer the older style hotel bathroom, where there is a second sink and mirror outside of a smaller showering and toilet area. With that setup, two people can easily stagger their prep routines at the same time. The large bathroom does give a "fancier" feel, but is perhaps less efficient. Available towels, water pressure, water temperature were all adequate. Soap/shampoo, lotion were generic, but decent. TP was dismal, as one would expect. We chose a harbor view room, and while the view was pretty industrial, and included much parking lot, it easily beat out another recent hotel stay that provided a fine view of a Wal Mart and a DQ! The little balcony was a nice touch, but it was a bit cool out when I was there to really enjoy it. The beds were newish with nice linens when we stayed. They were not really the right comfort for me or my companion, but there was a feeling of decent quality. Pillows were great. I would note that the outside of the room doors, and some other areas seem to be showing wear from patrons. I am not sure how the outside of room doors get to looking beat up, but some appear a bit rough, as well as other hall and stairway areas. I hope the proprietors keep the place up, as it is generally pretty nice currently. The free shuttle service to and from Canal Park was totally great! The breakfast situation was quite a scene. Very busy when we descended to partake, probably an hour before service ended. It was certainly intimate in regard to space in both the food area and dining area. The staff was on point in regard to keeping things clean and replenished. There were folks cleaning the ubiquitous waffle maker after every few waffles were made, which was impressive. As far as the food, it's hotel breakfast, right? The hot food like eggs, ham, and sausage, was maybe a 2.5 out of 5 (held food buffet style is always tricky- especially eggs), and the rest was standard stuff like: cereal, waffles, bread items, fruit, juice, yogurt, caffeinated drinks, etc.. If you want breakfast, you can find some for sure. I would definitely stay here again. The rates are not out of line for the area, and compared to some of the rather outdated and not kept up places, this spot is a clear winner. read more

The hotel is clean, staff is friendly. Location is awkward (pretty much have to drive to get anywhere interesting downtown unless you have good CV health). Breakfast was the minimum expected, though at least it was a hot breakfast and not a pile of stale croissants. If you're a smoker, you'll have to walk down to the street for a smoke, since the whole campus is smoke-free. There is no restaurant, but there's a "lounge" which serves frozen pizza and cheap beer. Cheap as in Coors Lite and Michelob Golden Lite, dunno about price, I wouldn't pay for any of those beers. My biggest complaint was with media access. Our wifi barely worked. The TV (DirectTV) was out most of last night while the ones in the lounge were working fine. So, I was going to suggest this as an inexpensive spot for work trips where you don't really care about the amenities, but the lack of decent internet access makes that a non-starter. Staff tried to be helpful. I felt sorry for them. If you have good foot-soldiers but crappy management and infrastructure, the customers still suffer. Inexpensive place. They mentioned free Wi-Fi and that was a big part of why I decided to stay here. It is Wi-Fi in the sense that your devices will connect to something but if you want to do anything at all on the internet, I hope you can use your phone because 0.11 mbps will get you nowhere. So slow in fact that the upload speed test wouldn't even run. This is blatant fraud in my opinion. Edit (1-11-18): In hindsight, I was peeved that the internet was not usable because my cell coverage was also terrible. Maybe not the best time to write a review? So, the room was fantastic actually and I've upgraded from 1 to 3 stars as a result of the following. They gave me a great view of the harbor (does that come at a premium in Duluth?) and it was perfectly clean and easily beyond my expectations. Anyways, back to my internet speed gripe, they handled my grievance quite well. I got a call from the manager (I was like a 4th grader talking to the principal after I remembered this post), by chance or not, I don't know, but he asked about my stay so I told him all about the wifi and how that combined with the lack of reliable cell coverage (in no way their fault) put me in a bad position because I had every intention of putting in a few hours of work time from the room. He sent me a voucher for 20% off another night at the hotel. I think this is totally fair since for a return trip, I'b be going there for leisure rather than work. Win/Win IMO.
