Shep Studio is absolutely one of the best places in Utah County, PLACES, not just salons. You will get a fabulous haircut, but you will also leave feeling like you are part of a very stylish family. While everyone there has fantastic style and haircuts that anyone would envy, they are the least pretentious most down to earth staff you will ever find. From the front desk to the assistants to the full-time stylists and colorists, they are all so friendly, complimentary, and helpful. Whether you want an edgy asymmetrical bob, or just a great shape cut into your longer hair, you will leave with a haircut that you didn't know was possible. I have wavy hair, and prior to going to Shep 4 1/2 years ago, I had never been to a salon that did not use a straightener on my hair. Not the case here! Their blow-outs alone are worth any amount of money. And they will teach you how to style the haircut they give you. I have been able to blow out my hair straight ever since going here. So you get to have the same fabulous look even when you do it at home. And if you want the healthiest, most fantastic color your hair has ever had you will never go anywhere but Shep Studio. My hair actually feels healthier after having it colored. And again, with your great hair comes a great education on how to care for your colored hair and keep it looking amazing for as long as possible. If I could rate this place 10 stars I would. I never wrote any comments on Yelp. But I got such a wonderful experience today at Shep Studio so I couldn't help sharing my experiences with everybody. I scheduled an appointment with Patrick, but when I came in they said they didn't see anything on their system. I got really upset as I have an interview soon and I need to get my hair done asap. So Shep, the owner of the studio, suggested that he could give me a hair cut with the same price as I got it done by Patrick (which is less expensive than his price). It's 5 o'clock and he was supposed to get home to have dinner, but he stayed there to get my hair done!!! (I was really lucky because the receptionist said people you usually have to wait a month to make an appointment with him!) I was very satisfied with my new hair. My old hair is very long but it is super, super, and super thin. I want to make it look better without cutting it short, and Shep can do that! I look really different after cutting my hair (in a positive way of course). To be honest, my haircut is very common and not complicated at all. I feel like most salons can do it if I request the exact hairstyle. But the hard thing is choosing a hair style that fit me as my hair is super thin, and Shep was really good in doing that. read more

The best place to get your hair cut in Utah (or anywhere), hands down. I have been coming here for a few years now. I found Shep Studio after several frustratingly bad haircuts. Ha! The stylist, Chanel, is my number one choice! She pays a terrific amount of attention to detail. She is a lovely conversation holder and she captures exactly what you ask her for every single time! :) That being said; every single stylist is incredible. If you have a specific type of cut in mind, ask the receptionist and she can tell you who's specialty it is. Plan ahead. Since they are great at what they do, sometimes they can be booked far out. As far as pricing goes; some may say it is steep. I pay $40 per cut and add a tip. BUT, it is worth every penny. Love Shep Studio!! I have gone to David at Shep Studio for over a year now. He is very good at figuring out what I am trying to explain when I know what I want, which is explained in very vague and broken terms. Many times I've even sat down and told him I had no idea what I wanted, which lets his artistic veins breathe a bit. He quickly figures out a cool style for me and it's always been something within my comfort zone, which is very, very narrow. I have been to SO many salons where I come out looking like my Dad just cut my hair again with the old buzzer but for $30. I have received so many great compliments since I began going to Shep Studio. My favorite compliment I have received was either being told by a New-Yorker that I looked "so New York" or while riding my vespa knockoff, some high school girl yelled "I LIKE YOUR HAIR" while running across the cross-walk. I've had a whole plethora of experiences when it comes to getting my hair done from the worst of the worst to the best of the best. I really loved my experience at Shea Studio. It's a professional, clean, and calm space. I loved working with Kelly to get exactly what I wanted done with my hair. She taught me so much and was super thorough in planning before execution. All the employees seemed to enjoy their work there and had good relationships with one another. I left feeling so great about my experience there and of course my hair! I'll be going back for sure, and recommending to all my friends! If you're concerned about prices, you get what you pay for. A higher price, to me, means higher quality. This is my third time visiting Shep Studio and I am so glad I keep coming back! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm welcome and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was inviting and the salon was very clean and organized. The stylist I had was amazing! Stevo was very knowledgeable and took the time to listen to what I wanted and gave me great advice on how to achieve the look I was aiming for. He was also very gentle and made sure I was comfortable throughout the entire process. The result was exactly what I wanted and I couldn't be happier. My hair looks and feels amazing and I have been getting so many compliments on it. I took my 12 year old sister to Shep Salon for a haircut, it was our first time going there. She wanted a mullet cut and I didn't trust to take her anywhere except for a top rated salon here in Provo; after looking at great reviews, I felt comfortable to schedule an appointment. I decided to schedule an appointment with Stevo, and was not let down! He was so kind, so welcoming, and gave my sister an amazing haircut! My sister is extremely happy and confident with her new look! I've been going to Patrick at Shep Studio for about 8 years. He has been fantastic! I had never done anything beyond a trim or get bangs before my relationship with him. Since I got to know Patrick and trust his judgement and skills, I have had him chop all my hair off into a pixie twice, help me grow out those pixies, had crazy colored hair, short hair, long hair, bangs, curly hair, straight hair, etc and have never been disappointed with the outcome. After a few years I even stopped coming in with specific ideas and would simply throw out some general ideas and he would create something from those ideas that fit my face, my style, and my willingness to manage it. I've been with Shep Studio for over 4 years and can honestly say that this place is the gem of Utah Valley! I've tried switching to other stylists, but nobody compared even close to Shep's expertise on studying and working with the peculiarities of my hair. I never leave comments or reviews. I just don't. This is my second one ever and my first one was a complaint. Shep was so excellent though that I just had to. I had my hair cut somewhere else just 3 days before to help make my hair look thicker. It was just an awful cut. So I looked up local stylist to see who had good reviews and could fix it. If I could put a 10 on here, I would. I've been to my fair share of salons/barbershops/ and haircut joints here in Utah and Emma and Shep are hands-down the best. The atmosphere is great, staff is excellent and extremely personable. Laney helped me figure out what would be the best style option for me; she took the time to explain and provided great alternatives. Laney was very kind and tactful. Shep Studio, BY FAR, provided me with my best salon experience EVER. I'm kind of a hair dummy and I really need a cut that does the work for me or else "frumpy mom" readily emerges. Siara gave me the cut I wanted when I didn't even know what I wanted-- it was perfect! It's been so easy to maintain and it's grown out beautifully (a first time occurrence for me!). I really appreciate the attention she gave to me during the cut and that she seemed personally invested in me loving my look. I was recommended to Sheps by a dear friend who only let Patrick dye her hair. I got my hair done by David, flawless cut. Before he started he took several minutes to go over my hair and what he was going to do with it and what its current state was. It put me at ease and helped us know exactly what I wanted and what he was going to do. I purchased a product that later I was not satisfied with...while they could not return it because I had opened it Shep himself refunded their profit of the product to me. Shep Studio is a dream experience!!! Candace is AMAZING!!! She is quick and beyond precise. With her haircuts I feel like a million bucks. I can shake my head and it will fall into place. She encourages me if I feel like a change and praises me if I like the same thing over and over again. I have never had a stylist that I went to over and over again until Candace. I have been going to Shep for awhile now and I have finally found a stylist and salon that I love! Shep is amazing and he spends time educating you on styling and maintaining your cut. I was taken back by his attention to how my cut had grown, and what changes we could make to combat some areas that were problematic. I have thicker hair, and have always struggled with frizz and bulk. But Shep has really found a style that I love! He truly enjoys his work. I have observed him taking time to teach his staff a technique or give feedback on a cut they had just completed. I love Shep! I first went here from a recommendation made by my cousin and I'm so glad I listened to her. The space is clean and well decorated and the staff here is extremely kind and helpful. It is a higher end place so haircuts are a bit pricier than budget places but it's worth it for a good cut. They carry really great hair products too and even though they're expensive, the ones I've bought have lasted me a long time. Lauren is the best! I was very impressed with the salon. As soon as you enter, the staff is very professional and attentive. Camille was ready for me when I got there. She listened carefully to what I wanted done, gave me suggestions, and she asked several times as she cut, if that's what I wanted. She was very skillful and did a tremendous job with my cut and style. I love the length and movement of my hair after the cut. I'm very satisfied with the service.
