My favorite/regular hair girl has weird hours nowadays and is only available like one day out of the month at the worst possible time. Because of this, I have been shopping around for other stylists to do my hair as great as she does it. The last two experiences have been mediocre at best. I was hoping this experience would be different and I am so glad it was. I don't know if I have ever loved my hair more. Booking online was pretty easy but it did scare me that I wasn't able to confirm the appointment right away. The way that their system is set up, you have to wait until the appointment is confirmed. Granted, it didn't take all that long to confirm the appointment, it was still kind of worrisome as to what would happen if it wasn't accepted. My appointment was with Cati. I know there is usually salon small talk but she really broke the ice quickly and it didn't really feel awkward at any point throughout. It also felt very genuine and nothing fake or forced. She was fun to talk to throughout the entire process. My appointment was at noon and she took me back just a few minutes after the hour. She was very thorough and made sure she understood what I wanted. One thing that has bothered me about other salons is they expect me to be someone would a PHD in color theory so they ask me questions that I am not sure how to answer. Cati did not make me feel this way and I appreciated her taking the extra minutes to ensure I end up with hair I asked for. The one downside to my visit, is that the appointment was extremely long. It was almost 5 hours long. I told her I wasn't in a hurry but I definitely couldn't have predicted it taking that long to get everything done. I was also in a toss up on if I wanted a haircut or not . I decided not to, as it would tack on an extra $40 for a very small trim. I just got it cut a few months prior so this also just wasn't realistic at all. As the stylist was messing with my hair, she noticed it was two different lengths. She went the extra mile to fix it so it was even and told me she wasn't going to charge me for it, since it was literally just a few pieces of hair with breakage, that caused my hair to be uneven. I appreciated this so much! The pricing was completely fair and the check out process was easy, but a bit unique to say the least. She sent me something on my phone and then I checked out through my phone. I have never seen this done before but I would take this over the awkwardness of them leaning over me to make sure I tipped them enough. Another cool thing: I used the check in offer to leave with a free Bumble and Bumble product. Most things in their store are Bumble and Bumble so this is pretty on par, but I love Bumble and Bumble so no complaints from me! The end result: I love my hair more than I ever have! I don't quite understand how she did it, but she made my hair look amazing. We were able to meet in the middle about what I wanted, despite me lacking in color theory or general cosmetology verbiage. I love how light it is and the overall color is perfect. I am so so happy with how it turned out, and I have not said that within the last year. Cati was so much fun to talk to throughout the experience. We laughed, swapped stories, and it was just a really fun time. I'll be back to Salon K if Cati is there again ;) read more

I really wanted to like this place and the reviews seemed mostly positive but I think there just was a miss in communication. I had asked for lived-In balayage because I don't like it to start up near the roots and I provided photos via text when scheduling and again in person. they had me come in for a consultation which went well. But when I came back for the actual appointment it took 4 hours and my hair barely looks any different And nowhere near the photos I had asked for. The stylist I had and the staff were all super sweet for the most part. She was very talkative and made friendly conversation the first half but once we got to the tone and cut she was quiet and standoffish which made me feel like I did something wrong and I have really bad anxiety so I even tried to ask her questions and make conversation but she didn't warm back up to it. It especially felt rushed at the end and I think she was even burnt out by such a long appt. I've had my hair done at other places and for more color work and it's never taken more then 2-3 hours max and I leave with better looking hair, but seeing as I just moved here I had to find a new salon hence why I gave salon k a try. Sadly I won't be returning. I'm just bummed that my hair is not what I had asked for and I paid 220 plus 20% tip because I know it took a lot of her time. Okay... I wanted to like this place. I had such high hopes! But what ended up happening was me maybe getting the worst haircut of my life. And I've had some pretty bad haircuts! Ha. My hairdresser (Abby B.) was unfriendly, did not wash/style my hair (yet still charged full price), and cut it... completely uneven. It was so bizarre that Abby missed seeing the dramatic difference between the left side of my hair and the right. I ended up just "fixing it" myself when I got home. Despite how poorly she did cutting my hair, she still took over an hour. It was an all-around miserable experience. That being said, the receptionist was nice???? So I guess that's something. Bethany K is amazing! Get her, you won't regret it. I've been coming here to get my hair done for like 3 years now and don't go anywhere else. They are friendly, personable, make you feel comfortable, and most importantly do an excellent job on your hair. I really do adore this place. It's definitely the underrated salon in the area. Stylist listen to what you are looking for and give you what you want. I've had bleach and color done and both turned out top of the line. The stylist also keep with the current styles and have great ideas if you want to get creative. So disappointed!! Whenever I make an appointment there, the stylist texts me to come in later because she is behind schedule and even when I arrive, I have to wait 15-20 minutes. Yelp you let me down again--been batting 0 on your highest rated services in my area since moving to Utah :-( Arrived at 12:45 on a Friday afternoon for my 1pm appt. At 2pm, my hair appt. began. When I saw that ALL of the stylists were very youngish and each girl leaving had the same blonde chunk going down the side of their hair--I should have left! Salon K--Jenna, so-called stylist... Does not "hear", so you can't tell her what you want done. Has no intelligence, or she would know that untreated hair will not react the same as treated hair and take other's suggestions who know better...me, her boss, for instance. Is great at making excuses so that her clients appear stupid... Can not carry on an intelligent conversation about anything and certainly would never look a client in the eyes or ask their name... Believes she is so superior as a stylist, she talks in front of a client like they are not present... (drum roll please) Walks out of the studio leaving her client with dripping wet, orange hair in the chair when she can't handle her own disastrous work on a client's hair AND lying just wasn't cutting it... *Kudos to Taylor, who tried to save my orange, fried hair by toning it and staying until 6pm. I left with orangish, whitish, beigish fried hair--no hair cut or style--no chunky highlight I asked for on my bangs with brunette hair. (Remember when your high school friends wanted to go from brunette to blonde one weekend--Monday they showed up with orange fried hair?) Yup!!! Jenna, please DON"T keep your day job! Sonic maybe? I went in to get a balayage two weeks ago. I was charged $200 for the cut and dye and it turned out nothing like the picture I showed them and it took five hours. I've been three times now to see Jessie. From the looks of the reviews, you can't miss no matter who you get here. She is young and I'm typically a little wary of people younger than me, but she is great. I really like that she takes the time to get it right. I was scheduled for a partial weave this last time, switching from a melt. She recommended doing a full weave so it all would be even, and she was right. The bottom would've looked terrible being melted with highlights on top (IMO). She's very methodical, and although my most recent took a long time to do my hair, she stayed an hour after her shift b/c she wanted to do it right. read more

I could not have asked for a better haircut today. First off, it was my first time at this salon and I was really happy that they were able to take me in at the list minute (for a cut only). Second, Dany the stylist, gave me one of my favorite haircuts ever and I usually only see my hairdresser in LA or DC. I showed her two pictures of what I wanted (long angled bob) and we talked about what was possible given my length and the previous heat damage to my hair. If you come this Salon make sure you do background searching on who is going to do your hair. I went to this Salon 4x and I originally LOVED my experience and color, but after my 3rd visit my stylist FK** my hair. The goal is to keep my blonde curly hair with a more natural look. She died my hair BLACK from shiny beautiful blonde.... I was devastated... I cried and waited a couple days hoping that this "professional" did something magical and after a couple washes, my hair would be okay... It wasn't, so I called the Salon and demanded a refund. The manager would not give me a refund as you sign a contract at the time of your first service agreeing that you can't get a refund regardless of what happens to your hair. I went back as the manager said she could fix my hair and she did fix it somewhat but there are still streaks of black in my hair not to mention how crazy damaged my hair is now. My hair also smelt like cra* for about two weeks because whatever chemicals she used to fix my hair was so strong. I deep conditioned every day for a month and the smell went away after two weeks. I lost money, damaged my hair, smelt bad, and wasted my time in that salon. BE CARFUL WITH YOUR ARTIST. read more
