I do this thing where I plan out my trips to the salon with something fun that I am doing. I cannot fathom wasting a good hair day sitting inside my house. It had been a while since I got a haircut so I decided to do just that. Technically speaking, I also could've gotten my hair dyed but I decided not to just because the color didn't seem to have a need to be corrected. I was able to book an appointment on their website. I appreciated how easy this was and that they had convenient times available. I ended up doing a hydrating haircut which included some kind of hair masque I believe. This stylist was not the stylist I typically go to but I was too busy to drive all the way to Salt Lake. This salon is much closer to my house, making it a convenient and easy drive. I will say, the parking for Ottalaus is pretty horrible. To no fault of their own but I feel like it is important to note. I was able to find parking but it was very very stuffed when I was in there--I was thinking I may need to park in a neighborhood until a spot opened up. Upon walking in, I was a little bit early. Originally, there was nobody at the front desk but I didn't mind the wait. Once the receptionist returned, she was super apologetic about the wait but again, I didn't mind at all. I met my stylist and we got to work. It is always fun to spill the tea with them about everything going on in my life and it makes me laugh that they agree with everything I am saying, no matter what I say lmfao. The stylist did a wonderful job at making me feel comfortable and giving me the result I wanted. I felt like the hydrating process did wonders on my hair and I loved that it lightened my hair without the dye too! I will say, the price was a bit up there for what I got but the result was still amazing. It was over $80 just for the haircut and the wash. Again though, the results were great. I would love to go to Ottalaus again and love the services they offer. read more

i called. they told me the appt was with shawny for $45. upon arrival, michelle appeared. i was informed that michelle was a level 5 stylist, so the service was $65. in the middle of the service, michelle informed us that this was a styling and so it was $90, but she didn't know how to do curls, so shawny would take over. we had already paid $80 (65 + 15 tip). they charged the card again for 120 (90+30 tip) stating that they would refund the first transaction. they only refunded the 65 and kept the first tip as well. and for the record, shawny doesn't know how to do curls either read more

Do not come here for a mens haircut. I live in Lehi and I dont know many other places to get a haircut around here, so I went here roughly three times and every time they have managed to mess up my hair. I show them a picture of a low taper fade and they give me a high burst fade every time. They also charge $60 dollars which is very expensive to give me a bad haircut read more

You're supposed to leave a hair salon happy and feeling good about yourself. Instead, our entire family cried cos we all felt bad for our daughter who's hair got BUTCHERED for $140ish. We showed our hairstylist photos and spoke to her and we thought she understood only for her to cut my daughter's super short! Literally, she made her look like 90s Eminem. I wish we complained but were to stunned to speak, and I didn't want to make a scene because I was most certain that I would have ended up crying. It was so bad that my daughter had to miss 2 days of school cos kids can be mean and she was having mad anxiety. It was so bad. Never ever ever again. Shame cos the first time was ok that we decided to take the long drive. We had a different hairstylist and we regret it. Now we've spent over $50 worth of hair growth products and we cannot wait for this nightmare to be over. No one should leave a hair salon in tears. read more

I'll probably never be able to pronounce the name of this salon, but I will keep coming back. I've only had my hair cut and colored here, but it's always an enjoyable experience. The salon is clean, spacious, and classy, and has a free wifi connection with the password actually posted in the waiting area so you can find it. The workstations are spaced out to give you some privacy, and my stylist, Amy, is very easy to talk with about hair and other things. There are never many people in here, but I come in the evenings so that might not be there busy time. I like the online booking and reminders. I can't quite wrap my head around the pricing structure--the cuts seem overpriced and the colors seem reasonable. At my old salon, a cut WITH a color was less than a cut AND a color, but I don't think it's that way here. Prices aren't posted out in the open so it's always a bit of a guessing game. I did recommend a friend to my stylist and later received an unexpected $20 credit for that, which was a pleasant surprise. read more

My daughter and I enjoyed a nice evening of having our hair washed and styled with some dinner served. We loved the environment and all the employees were professional and so thoughtful. My daughter and I both enjoyed the experience of this salon. It's a little far from home, but I'd definitely go there again to enjoy the "royal treatment" feel they provided. read more

I was looking forward to my appointment at the Ottalaus Salon-South Jordan location. Sadly, when I arrived on time for my 9 am appointment. I was informed 15 minutes later that my "stylist" was standard in Florida. I responded by asking "why wasn't I informed?" the girl at the desk smiled condescendingly and replied you should have received a call. Well, the calling is one thing but the delivery and receipt of the message, well that's what is the most important part of the call...All and all the experiences left a bitter taste in my mouth and I would never consider this place a note-worthy and or competent place of business. read more

OK I went to the Lehi 3300 runingcreek way lehi bA Ottalus location and it was the most horrible experience of my life. I walked in with blonde hair. I dyed myself they was yellow toned. I was going to a party, so I really needed my hair professionally done and the girl told me she couldn't bleach my hair anymore which I was totally fine with. I just put a picture with my blonde hair when I walked in, the house you can see my blonde was not that dark and it was not ugly. I showed her inspiration pictures and she said she can get my hair pretty close to that even without bleaching my hair all I wanted was to add some red on top of my blonde into town to blonde. So I booked an appointment for a haircut and all over hair correction hair dye all over hair style and a deep conditioning from the second I walked into my appointment she was treating me like total shit like I couldn't afford her hair appointment and that wasn't the case. I think she was prejudiced because I am a gypsy from the second I walked in it felt like she thought like I wanted to get my hair appointment free or something she kept saying if you can't afford to go somewhere else. After she was done, it was the worst experience of my life. I've been doing my hair a lot at salons and I never had this kind of experience. She didn't use foil or anything she just threw hair dye on top of my head she didn't wanna touch my hair I told her I don't want to pay her because my hair looks like shit as you guys can see in the pictures she was laughing at me and told me we're not magicians we can't do magic. Your hair was ugly when you walked in it looks a lot better now you guys could see in the photos I post a picture of my blonde hair when I walked in. Yes it needed to be toned but it really wasn't that bad. And now she's trying to put me in jail putting courts I gave her $200 and walked out. She said that's fine as long as you never come back, I said that was fine. I never want to come back I had to make another appointment with paid somebody else to fix my hair. They took all the Blonde out just died red I can't put a frost back in my hair cause it's too bad that was the one chance I had to have blonde hair, and she claimed to be a professional she is not she's more like an amateur. I started with my eyebrows to get it shaped and waxed just a bit. Shayla was friendly and personable as she worked on my brows. Then I went to make up next. The gal (blond hair and glasses) I forgot her name but she was super personable, friendly, and adhered to my heart's desire for my make up look for the night. Then I hit up the hair wash station. The gal there massaged my scalp and was just easy to chat with and happy to help with my hair - noted that she greeted me with a smile and she was genuine, which I truly appreciated. At the end of the night I was able to request a hair cut, and AnneMarie (the owner) was super knowledgeable of her staff, pointing out their strengths and specialties. I had the privilege of getting my mane cut by Camyll - super bubbly, super personable, and I just loved her personality! She gave me a sassy A-line cut and I really enjoyed my experience and visit with her! It truly shows that AnneMarie really enjoys working with her staff and vice versa. Throughout the night I was there, I observed AnneMarie and she walked around consistently to check on everyone, making sure everyone was taken care of and attended to. She was also just a lovely being to just chat with. I will def be coming back to this fine establishment! read more

I was hoping for a much better experience, I likely won't be going back. I was there for a haircut this week and waited nearly 45 minutes. I was apologized to when my hairstylist finally came and grabbed me and she explained that the woman before me was late, but as I sat there nobody else said anything to me that entire time. I nearly got up and walked out several times. The haircut itself isn't quite what I wanted and I had to go home and fix some of the rough areas that were sticking out (it was a short bob cut). I also was charged more than I was expecting, for a long wait and for a cut that wasn't quite straight. So all in all, not great. The stylist was super sweet and had good suggestions for my hair, but I'll likely go to a different place in the future. read more

The employees educated me as well as made me feel great! The staff was so friendly. I've been to too many salons where it's feels snobby and this place is not that. OTTALAUS REVIEW: Beware! I did my homework by finding a highly rated salon and booked with a stylist experienced with doing color and still I had the worst salon experience of my life. My hair is naturally a sandy blonde color and for years I have had lighter blond highlights added. I needed my roots filled in and my previous stylist was no longer doing hair, so I needed to find a new stylist. Ottalaus had excellent reviews so I booked confidently with a stylist named Brooklyn who had beautiful examples of her color work on her instagram page. I had a horrible experience as I was shuffled between multiple customers and stylists. My color is ruined and I left in tears. I'm not sure if the poor service was the reason the quality suffered, but I can't help but think there is a connection between the two. I arrived on time, but had to wait. I was told she was with another client, which didn't seem like a problem untiI I looked over and saw that she was putting foils IN someone else's hair, just beginning the highlight process. I thought, "I'm gonna be here a while." She came and got me about 15 min later and I learned she would be working on me and multiple other people at the same time. I was very worried about having someone new highlight my hair, and I asked her as soon as I sat in her chair if she would be able to match the color to the existing highlights and she said yes. After putting my foils in and putting me under the dryer, I pointed out the section of hair still hanging in my face. I was confused and asked she if was going to highlight that part. She said, "Thanks for pointing that out, I would have forgotten!" Then I was washed by someone else and toned by yet another different person. After she did my cut she immediately moved on to the next customer without even styling it. She didn't even give me a hand mirror to check whether I was ok w the cut so I had to ask someone else for a mirror. Turned out it needed a few more snips, which yet another stylist had to do. Then I noticed that the front section of my hair had an uneven streak in it where it appeared that 1/2" of roots hadn't been colored. I pointed it out to Brooklyn and she said she couldn't see the problem, even though it was very obvious, which made me feel like she just wanted to be done with me. Yet another stylist tried to fix it by adding another foil which she never even washed out and it didn't really fix the problem. When I went in, my highlights were creamy blond and shiny, but the new color is brassy yellowish orange and dull. And uneven in places. Even the underneath parts of my hair where foils were not put in, that were supposed to remain my natural color, are now brassy orange. My hair is also dry and crispy. I have never left a salon with my hair feeling anything but soft and silky. I asked Brooklyn multiple times what she used in my hair so that I could pass that on to someone who could try to fix it, but she wouldn't tell me. I'm not sure she even knew the answer herself. I'm really upset that my hair is jacked and I'm out a lot of money and I still have to pay someone else to get it fixed, if I can even find someone who can fix it. I certainly don't trust anyone at Ottalaus to fix it. Update: I had to argue with Brooklyn to get my money back and she only agreed after I threatened to talk with her manager. I still spoke with the manager and she offered to try to fix it, but not for free, and she admitted she wouldn't actually be able to fix it, only to hopefully make it look less bad, and only on the top pieces because she's didn't want to "damage the intregrity" of my hair (too late!) and cause a "chemical cut" (make my hair fall out). She said processing it again so soon could make it dissolve. I passed on that. I did however spend the rest of the day on a mission to find someone who could "fix" it. In all I tried 5 salons. One refused to even try. The rest agreed to try but all had different and conflicting ideas of what could and could not be done. None would attempt it for less than $300 and all told me it might not work and could result in my hair dissolving. I agonized over what to do. I couldn't afford to throw money at it, with no guarantee it would work and a high possibility it would ruin my hair beyond hope and end up having to shave it all off. Or, I could just take matters into my own hands and save my time and money and just shave it anyway. Either way, my appearance would be ruined. Shaving it would mean starting over and letting my hair grow out in its natural, healthy state. So that's what I did. I walked into Ottalus with beautiful hair and now I have practically none. "Beauty salon," indeed. Thanks for nothing, Ottalaus! I will be spending the next couple years trying to regain what you took from me. read more

I desperately needed a haircut before my sister's wedding, and I was a little nervous trying a new place when it was so close to the date (trust me to leave things to the last minute) but this place was amazing. They responded to me very quickly and managed to fit me in that day. Kaytlin was super sweet and really listened to what I wanted. I'm really happy with my hair, and with the whole experience. My hair is a lot healthier and looks so much better, and everyone was very kind and welcoming. I used to have the same hair stylist for years before I moved here, and I think I've finally managed to find a good salon. I'm definitely inclined to come back. read more

I was super impressed when I arrived for my first appointment at Ottalaus. The vibe is modern, trendy (without being overwhelming), and clean. I was immediately greeted at the reception desk and my stylist was ready for me very soon after that. I was offered a small bottle of water and a wrap to further protect my clothes. The hair cutting area is open and spacious, which I enjoyed. My stylist was Alisha and while I was told when I made my appointment that she is good at pixie cuts, I didn't know if she really was good or not. Well, when she was done, I knew for myself: this gal can totally cut a super cute pixie with very thick (and sometimes curly) hair! I was so pleased with the cut. She was very patient as I explained the look I was going for and showed her pictures that represented how I wanted my pixie to be altered. She worked with my hair and gave me honest feedback about what could and couldn't work with my hair thickness and texture. Before picking up the shears she explained her plan and made sure it was the direction I wanted to go. I am honestly so excited to go back to Alisha. It's no small feat to tame my thick hair into a super cute pixie and she did it! Plus, the setting was relaxing and gorgeous. I believe I've found my salon-home. Pro tip: Ottalaus has variable pricing, so if you're wanting to stick to a certain budget, let the person making your appointment know that so you can be matched accordingly. read more

Boutique salon with the most disappointing haircut experience I have ever had. Last Friday I had a cut and color scheduled. Arrived to the salon and was impressed by the front desk and quality of hair products they sold. Waited just a brief time before meeting my friendly hair stylist. Went through the color options and then started with my appointment. From this initial interaction and the aesthetic of the salon...I was excited to be there. While I was sitting at the sink bowl (head on the sink ledge) my stylist started adjusting the sink which was not only uncomfortable but also painful as she hit the sink on my ears and neck. Once my color had processed I was subjected to scalding water only for her to say she had gloves on and couldn't feel the temperature. I should have seen the writing on the wall. The worst part of my appointment followed when my stylist started cutting my hair. My hair was shoulder length and I asked for a blunt bob. After explaining I wanted her to take the back of my hair up to the shortest layer it took her two attempts to actually cut my hair to a shorter length. Then she proceeded to cut the right side of my hair. As she got closer to the front of my face I stopped her and asked her to leave the front length much longer as I wasn't ready to commit to short hair in the front. She said she understand and then cut my hair almost as short as the back of my hair...committing me to cut the front shorter than I've ever had it. She continued to cut the left side until she said she thought it was good and asked if I liked it. As I looked in the mirror the left side of my hair was significantly longer than the right which was not the look I was going for. She proceeded to struggle to cut my hair even and even tried to blame the longer length on my side part. Even when I asked for a mirror she had to ask another stylist for a mirroring...only to hand me the dirtiest mirror I could have ever been handed. Needless to say I eventually had to ask for another stylist to finish. It took over an hour to take off 2-3 inches for a blunt bob. And although the second stylist took $10 off my cut and color...it was well overpriced for the experience I had. I would trust my 13yr old to cut my hair better than the stylist I had. I waited until today to hopefully have the management call, taking responsibility for this situation, as I had shared my concern to the second stylist. Unfortunately, the lack of responsibility, follow-up and quality experience...has led me to this review. All disappointing. Go to another salon. It's the experience that makes a boutique a step above the others...not the nice entrance and quality products a salon can sell. read more

I love this place! Madi is a hair goddess. I have the most damaged hair. From extensions 3 years ago, to going from black to blonde (over time) but still, it messed my hair up and when I walked into Ottalaus Salon, I wasn't sure if anyone could fix this mop on my head. As soon as I walked into the salon, I was greeted by a super sweet receptionist, I didn't catch her name. The salon was super cute, and they gave me this soft smock to sit in while I waited. Out came Madi and she was so pumped to fix my hair! (Peep her IG for my before and afters!) I legit just wanted my hair to be healthy and back to my normal color, the whole blonde thing was not working for me and she worked magic. I left with a cute hair cut and this amazing color that I can't even describe. I am so excited I found her and can't wait to see the magic we make on getting my long hair back eventually. Can't really comment on the salon or the stylists because they kept moving my appointment around so I never actually went there. I called about a week ahead to get a 10:30am Saturday appointment. They called me a couple days before and the person I was supposed to see had a "family emergency" so they switched me to 2:30 in the afternoon. Okay, no problem life happens. Then they called me at 2pm on Saturday to say the new stylist was running late and that she wouldn't have time for me today and wanted to switch my appointment to Monday. I guess I should be glad they called me before I left the house. So I would close by saying that this salon is a great place, according to everyone else, if you can get them to honor your appointment. read more

I recommended her to my daughter and she did a wonderful job with her hair too, including cutting it in just the right way to show off her beautiful natural silver.
