I read the reviews and thought, there's no way it can possibly be that bad. Well it is. So don't get shentel if you have other options available. Internet seems to always be down when you need. In many cases i have reported major issues before the technicians spotted the problem. Before they took over JetBroadband it was the best service ever with unlimited Internet. Overpriced compared to competition but in my area there is no competition other than dish or direct TV and zero competition for phone or internet. Customer service is usually good but other times they act like they're doing you a favor. I pay about $40 more than my coworkers in Winchester and they get more TV channels and higher internet speeds. Beware of using this company for Internet/phone service. When we signed up for the high speed internet I was shocked by how high their prices are compared to companies in other areas. Their speeds are able to match other providers, but at almost 4 times the price of other companies. Since they had a monopoly on high speed internet in my area, I was forced to give them a try. I was initially satisfied with the quality of service I received, despite the fact that I was overpaying. I needed a landline phone added and they were quick to send a technician out with a new modem to meet my needs... Unfortunately, that's the last time they made an effort to meet them. Within 24 hours of having the modem installed, I had talked to tech support four times, each time the issue was "resolved" only to occur again, or be replaced with a new issue. I demanded that my account be credited for the service that wasn't being provided (despite being paid for) and they refused. I asked them to send someone out tonight and they said that was impossible. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told that there was "no one for me to speak to"... This resulted in an email to corporate from my girlfriend, which in turn led to a call from the supervisor that I wasn't there for me to speak to, as well as a visit from the tech, from whom it was impossible for them to send out. This company will abuse their local monopoly to gouge prices, provide a service that is less than you overpay for, and then lie to you to get out of fixing it. I'd recommend communication via smoke signals before Id recommend Shentel to a friend. read more

Absolutely horrible cable company. Took three months for them to bury the cable in the yard, the service flickered on and off on a daily basis, the Internet is slow, and most of all, the pricing is out of sight. The day the installer came, he didn't hook the boxes up to the TV, and handed me a brochure when asked how to use the DVR- yet their commercials say " our friendly installers will not only set up what you need, but also show you how to use it." There is no on demand, and the majority of the channels were religious, music (including two channels of hillbilly music), and family programming. How much Little House on the Prairie can you watch? Go with DirectTV if you're in an area that only has this company. I'm paying 50.00 less, have double the channels, on demand, etc. read more

They deserve no stars. I had DirecTV and it was amazing. I love watching football and we would always get the NFL package from DirecTV and I would always have the Buffalo bills games. I know they are not a popular team but I love them they are my life. And with Shentel I can never watch the game it's week 4 and I have tried to find it for every game and I only got the patriots game because they are popular. If I'm paying for something to get the game I want to see I need to be watching it. It's really pissing me off. We will definitely be switching back to DirecTV because Shentel sucks.
