The Kellogg Environmental Center is located in Osbornedale State Park, adjacent to the Osborne Museum. There weren't any classes going on during the time when we were there, but we took some time to explore the building, checking out all the little exhibits and displays. There's a little turtle pond in the middle. The classrooms are bright and colorful, and the staff (and the staff dog) were really friendly and nice. A very welcoming place, and I imagine a nice place to take a class and learn more about nature.

Burroughs is a great asset to the community. They offer meeting spaces, activities for children, a…read morecommunity garden, citizenship classes and English language learning opportunities, among other services. I'm a big fan of the "Our Woven Community" program. It supports refugee women with opportunities to make and sell beautiful handbags, scarves and other items. I recently bought two tote bags as gifts for friends. The bags were lovely, unique, and each one included a biography of the woman who created it. My friends loved them! Our Woven Community doesn't have an official shop space in the Burroughs building, so I called ahead and when I got there the receptionist showed me bins full of items for sale. They also sell the products online and at craft fairs, farmers markets, etc. Half the proceeds go to the women directly, and the other half pays for supplies, equipment, and entrepreneurial skills training.

The quality of the sitting and space to do presentations are great. Everywhere I've been in the building is always clean, including the bathroom. Definitely a great value to utilize space here.

The Ansonia Nature Center is a large park with a wildlife nature center. There are picnic shelters,…read morea large playground, and some large athletic fields. It has a well sized parking lot, enough to accomodate all the people that were picnicking that day. We were there for access to Naugatuck State Forest, which you can access from the Raptor Trail in the corner of the athletic fields. Overall, this is a nice park to enjoy, the only thing I would improve would to be to add a few more shaded picnic tables. The other thing to be aware of is that there's a gun club adjacent to the park, so be prepared to hear a lot of gunfire while you're there.
