These points are a big deal, as those were not available at the YMCA I used to belong to. At the YMCA I paid per month what I pay here per -year- which you just can't beat.There's a great sense of community here, at least among the swimmers. Sure, the locker rooms get hot as the 7th circle of hell in the summer, but I'll gladly handle that in lieu of all the positive aspects this place offers. It's truly a community hub, and one of my favorite places in town. I couldn't be happier here.

The Ansonia Nature Center is a large park with a wildlife nature center. There are picnic shelters,…read morea large playground, and some large athletic fields. It has a well sized parking lot, enough to accomodate all the people that were picnicking that day. We were there for access to Naugatuck State Forest, which you can access from the Raptor Trail in the corner of the athletic fields. Overall, this is a nice park to enjoy, the only thing I would improve would to be to add a few more shaded picnic tables. The other thing to be aware of is that there's a gun club adjacent to the park, so be prepared to hear a lot of gunfire while you're there.

This camp is horrible. My son ended up with a parasitic worm after attending this camp, and she…read moresuffered with it for almost a year. The pain she went through was awful, and it could have been prevented if the camp had proper hygiene standards. Kids are barely made to shower--just a quick run under water before jumping into the pool, which does nothing to actually clean them or stop the spread of infection. It's completely unacceptable, especially when children's health is at stake. I would not recommend this camp to anyone until they take sanitation seriously and make real changes to protect their campers. Honestly this is a warning for parents and I am not over reacting.

If you are mistreated while using Derby Recreation Center, just know the Wichita area gyms run a TON of hard scams on some customers just cause you are not going to be welcome there...Management of gyms have protected them bad employees for decades in spots just to mistreat some customer. The gyms in this area are used as scam to HARM some unwanted customers. So, if you don't get treated right while visiting a Wichita area gym or Derby, just know you won't be OK using most of the Wichita gyms. Can try to leave wallet in car and keys on you but then cars are hit in parking lots etc. That's why you see so many 300 lb people who are even WORKERS in Wichita area and Derby...This really isn't a healthy place for many.
