The facility hasn't changed much, but there are plans in the works to give the building an overdue overhaul. The major downside of this facility is parking, especially if there's an event at the Old Town Hall next door, or there's an event going on at this building itself. The staff is friendly and helpful, and go out of their way to try to accommodate any request. If you have need to use any of the town's parks or recreation facilities, this is the place to go!

Woodbury has a very active Senior community, and this is the hub of what goes on in town. There are…read moremany programs designed for Seniors that are offered throughout the week, and it's also a drop-in center if you want to play pool, bridge, or just chat with others. The space is also used for programs geared for the entire community, like the frequent movie nights and mini-golf tournaments. This is also where town meetings are held, and is the local polling place. It's a multi-use facility that sees a lot of visitors, and has greatly improved the quality of life for those in town, especially the Seniors.

You can seat on a park beach,and have a beautiful scenic view of some of the Thimble Islands, take a swim, and soak up the sun at the town beach, use the town boat launch to kayak around the Thimble Islands, or you can take a relaxing cruise around the Thimble Islands.I love it here and visit two or three times each year.

The scenery also includes twenty five small islands collectively known as the Thimble Islands. Technically a section of Branford, Stony Creek is pretty small, but it includes a public beach and a miniscule business district with a few stores and places to eat. Anyway, the Branford library completely changed my mind about the value of a community library and this particular library should be the gold standard for all exurban and suburban libraries in New England! The staff here are patient, friendly and actually love their work; it shows on the smiles they are constantly wearing and the wide diversity of content, events and activities for the community. The big doors opened led to beautiful entrance and observing the Art and books around us. We didn't get a chance to look around more because of the time restraint. The colonial revival structure is set back from the street and blends in with the 19th century architecture, including that of the church on the green. As an adult, it brings back childhood memories of my fascination with the variety of the layout of the various rooms. Many things have been modernized, but just walking in and looking around at the magnitude of shelves and shelves of books still brings joy to my quest for learning something new every day.

I am old fashioned in the sense that I still would rather walk into a public library and check out…read morebooks, instead of downloading them on a device or buying them. NHPL is a large library located downtown on the green, but somewhat outdated in the decor. A librarian there once told me that they have a huge number of "lost" books that people never return and never pay the fees for...guess it is difficult to chase down these missing books after a while. Late fees are reasonable too...20 cents per day, per book. Parking can be a pain (got a ticket once when I went in for 5 minutes to grab a book). Luckily, Yale lot 51 is right next door and offers free evening and weekend parking. They have a lot of free programs/speakers for adults and children. They also have many computers for use with your library card number as a log-in. You can use the internet, do some research and look up specific books that are available at any of the branches. They also have free museum and theater passes that can be checked out for discounts and free admission.
