I had supper tonight at Shelly's Tap and Grill. There are two parts ... there is a dining room and I sat on the bar side. There was a sign to wait to be seated ... so I did ... for a long time. No one made an appearance so I sat myself. I ordered Chicken Pad Thai (without peppers and onions as they upset my stomach). It was delicious! My favourite pie in the whole wide world is lemon meringue and I couldn't resist. It was good. The food was really good and I'd go back for that Pad Thai again. The problem, though, is the service. As I said, I waited to be seated but finally ended up seating myself. Alannah was my server (she was also the bartender). Though she was friendly, I was wondering if perhaps the restaurant was understaffed as she seemed to disappear for a while ... taking care of other tables in the dining room maybe? And it's not like it was crowded ... while I was there, there were four tables of two max in the bar area and maybe three tables of people in the dining room (and Alannah wasn't the only server). I wasn't in any rush so had the time (and patience). I would have rated it higher if the service had been better. read more

I was here once before and I remember not being impressed, in particular with the wait to be seated when we came in, and nobody greeting us when we arrived. This visit was different. It was breakfast during the week. It was fairly quiet. We were greeted and seated quickly. The servers attentive, the food served quickly and hot. I ordered eggs benedict. The one I ordered came on potato cakes instead of English muffins. Unique. I like that. I ordered hash browns as a side but in retrospect I should have ordered fruit as a side as that was a lot of potato. Everything went smooth. The food was good, the restaurant clean and nicely laid out and decorated. It was fairly quiet, noise-level-wise which I like. The price what about I would expect. It was a very nice meal. Went there with 3 other friends on Wednesday February 15, 2023 at noon. I believe our waitress was around 40ish, I think and had black hair. I say this so the other waitresses are not affected by this review. The service was really bad, And I say this because we ordered drinks and after she brought them never came back to see if we wanted more. Once we got our food we never seen her again except for when she stood at another booth and talked a lot with them at different times. So she never asked how our food was or offered more to drink or desert....nothing. Our group of 4 go out once a month and decided to try this place. We will never go back for sure. I hope that the owners or at least an employee reads this and passes it along. She should not be a waitress for sure. read more

My expectations for Shelly's were not high especially since it appeared to be your standard 'hotel restaurant'. But we were pleasantly surprised when we stopped in for breakfast. Everything looked good and tasted great. The service was excellent and $41 for 4 for a Sunday breakfast (including tip) was reasonable. 4 out 5 on breakfast. read more

what a difference from a year ago when i gave a 5 star rating. been here 3 times since then and my rating went down each time. tonight, a special occasion, was the lowest of 1 star if that. very poor prep on filet mignon. when you ask for it a certain way you should get what you order. second redo portion was full of gristle, hardly chewable. i don't think we will return again. the staff out front are very pleasant. read more

I've been to Shelly's several times. At one point we used to host an event here on a weekly basis and would use the bar as our social for after. The staff has always been great and the food has also been amazing. Our waitress (Kali) which normally served us and also served my girlfriend and I recently when we stopped back in has always been great. We have never had an issue with this restaurant. I'm a big fan of the chicken bowl, the salads, and the chicken. Definitely a place worth checking out. Prices are fair and qualities are on the rather larger side. Atmosphere is great and the connected hotel is nice as well. We've always preferred to be seated on the bar side, however whether on the dining side or bar side it's great. They have a private room for an after event and small little and enough space for a decent party or something small. Definitely love this place and will return again soon! Thanks Shelly's! read more

I've gotta echo other reviewers regarding the service. It is horrendously slow. I've been a few times and usually sit in the bar. On average, it takes 5-10 to order a beer and 5-10 minutes to get it. Then it takes a while to order and get food as well. They have nightly drink specials and you can usually score a pint for about $5. If you go on Friday or Saturday, the family style chicken dinner for $16 is pretty good. It comes with corn bread (don't fill up on it because it's not the best), pasta with marinara, fresh cut fries and the aforementioned chicken. They have an old school Ponderosa soup and salad bar if that floats your boat. Otherwise, the food is ok and reasonably priced, especially for a hotel. In the end, I'm not sure who Shelly is. She can cook alright but she needs to speed it up a bit. read more

Shellys was the only Restaurant that I did not need to drive to. I have been going to this place since Jan 25 at 9pm supper its now tuesday (Jan 27). I feel ready to put a review up. I will keep going to this location but if i was to really pay for it my self and its not my work then i may go to another location. I would sugest that you go to another location for a meal. Pro: - frendly staff best I have seen to date -The staff try to do what ever they can to make your stay good. even get ingreadents for soup (basal). - clean very -Some soups are good other keep away -they take cards and cash. -Brekfast deal which is good but long. -lets you bring your own cup for hot water -if you need sprited bills they can do that just let the staff know. NEG -The food: - I wounder if the chef really trys his/her food before sending it out? - The wait time for the food is the back staff short staff or do they have to go to the grocey store to get it? -They love salt so let them know to not the kill the food with salt. Staffing: -Sunday and Monday night (after 9pm) theire is only one person working at the bar which will cause slow time but i think it needs to change! for the staff safety read more

A family group of 20 had breakfast here on a Sunday morning. I commend the server, Jen T Bar, for providing excellent service to such a large group all by herself, without ever losing her composure. Breakfast menu selections and quality were excellent and reasonably priced considering the restaurant is part of the very popular Best Western Lamplighter hotel. Everyone appeared to enjoy the ordered food items and the coffee cups were kept filled - Jen left carafes on the tables! read more

Went here on Sunday for breakfast. There are 2 lines here that the hostess attends to, one on each side which we did not like. We got fed up waiting in line so we sat ourselves at the bar area. No waitress came around to even give us menus so when we got up an found one ourselves. When we inquired no one has come to our table to give us menus she snapped back at us "we are busy!!" Our breakfast was probably one of the worst I had, my omelette tasted like rubber obviously microwaved at some point, tomatoes on the side were border-lined green and coffee horrible. We were at a presentation yesterday st the hotel & decided to grab a bite to eat. The server was pleasant, attentive & very friendly , however the food was disappointing. Made a reservation, and upon entering waited 10 minutes until someone even greeted us. When someone finally did, we said we had a reservation and she informed us our table was being cleared. Considering the restaurant was basically empty this didn't come across as professional. The waitresses all seemed like they hated their job and created an uncomfortable atmosphere to enjoy a meal in. The fries were good, but many people at our table ordered wraps and they said they tasted like frozen pre made wraps that were reheated and quite mushy. A few of us ordered the holiday dinner, and the stuffing that came with it was absolutely disgusting, and all other sides were extremely salty. Our waiter forgot that the holiday dinner came with pie for dessert and failed to offer any before bringing the bills. Might have came on a bad night, however I don't think we will be returning to Shellys anytime soon. read more

So very disappointed. We lost our Mom this week and had family in town and wanted to take our Dad out to a nice dinner. We made a reservation and showed up on time. We waited at least 15 minutes before anyone even took our drink orders. We were never offered the opportunity to enjoy the salad bar. It took an inordinate amount of time for the food to be delivered. Mine was already cold. The waitress dropped off the food and left. We had to go in search of someone to refill our water, get fresh drinks, provide salad dressing and dip for chicken strips and fries. The person who wanted salad dressing ended up going to the salad bar and getting it herself. The person waiting on the dip for chicken ended up not eating because it took so long her food was cold. Our Dad ordered the rib eye, medium. It was extremely well done. We ended up speaking to a manager who listened and apologized and offered a measly 15% discount. None of this was acceptable. We will not go back to this restaurant and would encourage people looking for a nice dinner out to look elsewhere. read more
