I went there to look at a truck they had for sale. I noticed they had the wrong engine listed online and the truck was above NADA Clean Value. I called the dealer and they confirmed it was still available and they seemed nice on the phone. I arrived there later in the day and looked over the truck. The condition of it was really worse than what the pictures really showed. A lot of the interior was broken, missing, cut, paint chipping off, light hanging down and overall pretty rough. The exterior had a messed up front and rear bumper, and other small parts missing/broken. This is a 2009 and I expected a little better, but it just was not well taken care of. I did not ask the dealer ahead of time the condition, so that is on me. I spent a couple hours researching the truck and confirmed that model truck did not come with that engine as an option. In person I also confirmed this. The salesman either lied, was ignorant or just not smart, as he stated, "The information in the ad is according to CarFax, we do not enter that information into our ads, it is automatically entered into the ad". I looked into CarFax and it confirmed that the engine is different than what was in the ad (completely lied or just ignorant). There is a huge difference in the engines, and it really alters the price of the truck depending on how it was equipped. I talked about the listing and talked about how NADA on the vehicle was less than their asking price by a couple grand. He proceeded to argue then eventually went inside to print out a NADA for me. That sheet was way closer (by a couple grand) to what it was actually worth (clean). I also noticed the information he entered was not correct. This truck did not have cruise control or the towing package as he selected. The hitch that was on the truck was poorly installed and clearly not an OEM Ford hitch. We discussed this and he went inside to research and came back and said I was correct. I did my research and was misinformed multiple times on the truck. I don't really care about the cosmetics as I am using it more for hauling/towing/secondary daily driver. I took it for a test drive and noticed more things broken. I could live with the issues as they are mostly cosmetic. I told the salesman what I thought about it and pointed out its flaws. He was super defensive and was offended, even though I explained I just wanted to be on the same page as to the condition of it. I made an offer for the truck (which I thought was fair) and he got more offended and argued. He eventually made a counter offer and explained they sell at NADA. The truck is rough cosmetically and I explained it is not worth NADA or even slightly less. I believe with a different salesman I could have possibly made a deal. My warning to future customers is to do your research. I found multiple lies (by the salesman himself), false advertisement and overpriced vehicles for what they are (DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH!). I would have gladly paid NADA for a truck that was actually cleaner and fair. read more
