Me and My cousin came by this morning right when they opened at 9:30am! First, I just want to say how much the staff lady welcomed and seated us! She told us that bc no one is in yet, someone will be there in 15 mins but not even 15, a nail tech lady came in! Lanie helped my cousin out with her nails and few mins later, their manager, Tina came in to help me on mine Just wanted to say how thankful I am! Very pretty set! Both Lanie and Tina were fun to talk to and we would definitely come back here! My set was $75 and best believe it was worth it! I came here after I saw all the positive reviews on yelp but after my experience I'm genuinely shocked there are so many. I called ahead and set up an appointment for a 6pm manicure, I told them I had old gel that needed to come off and wanted a new gel manicure. I got there and the immediately started pressing for me to get a pedicure as well. I wasn't interested and they tried multiple times to convince me again to get both. I then was shown a very limited selection of gel colors and when I inquired about a jelly nail design I was told it was cats eye and that my nails were too short to have them done. I told them how I'd just had magnetic designs done two weeks prior when my nails were even shorter and after arguing with me they went and pulled out their selection of gel cats eye options. I was told I should get nail extensions done otherwise they couldn't guarantee it would work. I don't have super short nails but they're not the longest either. I've never had another shop give me such a hard time or say they couldn't provide that service with my nail length. They clearly had more gel options but did not show me the range like I'd asked. I The woman who was doing my nails I think was newer as she didn't do my cuticles, put the wrong color on (which I didn't notice until later as I chose a black/grey cat eye shift and she'd put on a black/green one instead), didn't wipe the excess gel off and straight up hardened the gel to my skin via the uv lamp on one of my fingers (I had to take some nail clippers and remove it myself at home later). The woman who was doing my nails didn't speak any English so I didn't know how to address any issues as the only other woman there was preoccupied with another customer. I felt rushed the whole time and not remotely welcome after I'd rejected the pedicure suggestion. The gel being stuck to my skin was a genuine hazard and no one was supervising this woman who is clearly still learning. It looked nice at first under their lighting but they were closing up and I was being rushed out towards the end and didnt get a great look until I got home. My nails haven't even lasted a week and they've already peeled off most of the nails. I'm never coming back here and will not be recommending this place to others. I'm only giving two stars instead of one because at least it looked nice for the small time I had them. read more

I had a great experience today my first time visit to Shellac. I seen the sign they had out on the street and decided to stop in as I planned on getting a fill today, and decided I would try out a new spa. I came at a good time as it wasn't busy so they were able to fit me in without an appointment. And I received great service from my nail tech Tina who gave me a polite professional experience. I chose to go with the cat eye gel polish numbers 3 and 14, and they came out so pretty, and Tina did a great job shaping my nails in the coffin style that I asked for. I will be back again! ****Update: I've been coming to this salon now for over nine months now, and I have to say I always have a pleasant experience. I'm never sure when exactly when I'll be able to make it in due to my frequently changing work schedule. But when I need my nails redone I've always had great service when doing walk-ins. I broke my natural nail with dip on it yesterday and it cracked across the top of my nail and I wasn't able to make it in on time yesterday but Tina was so kind, understanding and was able to fit me in for a quick fix this morning before I had to go to work. The cracked nail was painful and would've been difficult to work with and now my nails look great again and I'm experiencing no more pain. So I think it's fair that I added star as I have experienced a five star experience here. Thanks again Tina!! read more

Tucked in the corner of a very nice shopping center in East Sac is this GEM! It may be on Alhambra and H St but you would never know it by the quiet parking lot with nature all around. The coffee shop shields you from the busy street. It's an oasis in clean fresh quant decor. It's very cozy yet open concept with the beautiful high ceilings. The staff are very quiet but polite. No loud gossip here. Ask for Jeannie she has been my nail artist for over 10 years. She always knows what I want and I've never been disappointed . I get many compliments on my nails. She always runs on time and has never cancelled an appointment with me. I really look forward to my nail time! There is parking available in the lot or park at McKinley Park it's just a block away. Take a stroll around the park / lake and check out the ducks and geese and squirrels ! They even allow you to feed them! I suggest bird seed or dried meal worms, nuts for the squirrels. Came here for a mini cure and pedicure with a friend. Reserving through the phone was very very easy and I was able to come in same day. This nail salon was clean and beautiful inside. This is such a fantastic place to get your nails done! My partner and I came in on a Saturday afternoon after making appointments for us both earlier in the day. We found parking in the lot easily and headed in. We were greeted, seated, given the color options and allowed to take our time to decide. We felt relaxed, and not rushed. Tina did my nails, and she did a great job cleaning the cuticle. I do a lot of gardening so it had been a while since I had a manicure and she took great care of me. We had a nice time talking about Vietnam, and was given suggestions for visiting the country. She was thorough with making sure my shaping was correct and that I was happy with the color and design for the gel manicure. My partner had someone else help them, I believe their name is Hoan (sp?). The person said it sounds like "one" so I apologize if I did not get the spelling correct, but she was also wonderful. Both of them were very responsive when we asked for more polish to make it not look as see through and even suggested sparkles for my partners nails to make it look even nicer. They shaped our nails nicely and ended our services with a nice hand massage and warm towel. We will definitely be back and we're grateful our friend suggested this place to us. I made an appointment and double checked that the time wasn't too close to closing. I was assured it was not. The nail tech was obviously in a rush and used an electric filer to take off my old dip nails before hitting my cuticle. I then requested to soak off the polish for awhile instead, not wanting more cuts. She then moved onto a different client while I soaked my nails for 30+ min. Throughout the rest of the appointment she consistently hit my cuticles until I finally asked her to please slow down. Several of my nails are also shaped unevenly and there is dip polish left all over my skin. Despite the several cuts on my cuticles I was charged full price. Will not be returning. read more

Honestly, such a wonderful experience and treat for my daughter and me. We booked full manis and pedis for three of us, and the staff was so accommodating from start to finish. On Monday while my husband was having surgery at the nearby hospital. I decided to use my free time and treat myself to a manicure. First of all the place is super cute very clean and was not busy at all. I was given a friendly greeting and did not have to wait for my services. I asked for a manicure and gel polish on my natural round nails. The technician started by dipping my hands into a bowl of lukewarm water, and then picked up her nail clippers and asked if I wanted them cut . let the lady know I wanted them trimmed a little. She proceeded to cut them short and file them into an awkward uneven square shape. I was looking at nail polish color so when I look down at my hand, it was too late to say something it had already been done. Only nails they will grow back. We proceeded with the manicure, she seemed to get distracted easy because she was more interested in with the other employees around her were doing ( look like moving stations or changing around ? ) she put two super thin uneven coats of polish on so I did ask for one more coat to hide the brush strokes. When all was don't she massage my arms with lotion and was done. Here we are 3 days later and the paint is chipping and lifting off my nails, normally I can get about a week and 1/2 out of a gel polish . I am a little disappointed and will not be returning unfortunately. read more

Unlike most places in the area, there is plenty of parking, they offer you a beverage when you enter (they do serve mimosas), and we were seated immediately in our message chair. Not happy with my experience today. My nails are mis-shaped, the French tip is not precise, you can see stroke lines and air bubbles, and the chrome is not at all what I asked for. You can also see the line of where my old acrylic was growing out. Also left dead skin on my cuticles. Very unhappy with the result of this for what I paid. PLEASE READ. I can't believe this happened to me. I really hate to do this (I never complain), but I feel like it is my responsibility to share my experience. I wanted to treat myself for my birthday so I came here for the first time 2 days ago. When I left, I noticed that my big toe kind hurt. The next day, I woke with my toe in pain and a little bit of redness. I put an antibiotic on it. Today, only 2 days after my pedicure, it hurts a lot and has pus. The worst part is that she was holding my big toe and asked a coworker to come over to look at it and started speaking a different language(which I usually dont mind). I thought maybe they were talking about the color, but now I think she knew she did something wrong, i dont know! honestly, I didn't even like how she applied the polish, but I didn't want to be rude. I usually don't treat myself like this, I hope it gets better. It is just so unfortunate. read more

Update: The manager of the shop immediately called me upon seeing this review and apologized with what sounded like a very sincere apology. She also immediately refunded me and also offered to remove the nail set that I had done and put on a whole new set. So whereas I was unhappy with my nail job that was done... I was assured that the tech was spoken to and the manager rectified the situation immediately! Thank you so much for the fast resolve!! I really really wanted to like my nails! The girls were nice and funny. However, almost every finger was cut open and acrylic spilling over on to my skin. Man oh man. The shape was not good at all. I asked the very nice tech to please fix the shape twice but it remained the same so I just gave up. Also she continued poking her nails into my cuticles and cut my skin with the Dremel multiple times. Like I said, they were kind and funny however the nail job was just a bad experience. read more
