I don't use Texaco normally so not sure if this is a regular thing but there was a cover from the car to the store which was great. Clearly a well maintained gas station. Convenience store is clean and organized and also provides quick in and out service. They are located on a pretty busy intersection, but they are in the process of making some improvements which should help out with some of the traffic congestion you get in this area at going to and coming home from work traffic. Good location, close to the house and usually has gas prices cheaper than the stations located near Shades Crest and Highway 150.

What is actually the worst though is that even though you got to just walk in quickly, the workers each time at this place are unfortunately never serving you nor helping you. This very day as I once more walked in to get a quick receipt and I even planned to grab a few things to drink since it's hot outside, I was the only customer at the front desk to get my receipt. As I stood there for several minutes the two worker ladies only stared at each other and were speaking about whatever they wanted to chat about. They ignored me those hole minutes. I finally got the simple receipt I needed but then did not walk around and purchase stuff. So it is an unfortunate bad vibe in here.

First, the parking situation. There is plenty, but the way in and out of it is treacherous. If you have a low-slung car, take it slow and go at an angle because it is pretty steep in places. Second, the traffic. As other yelpers have stated, this place is virtually impossible to get out of onto South shades Crest toward Helena or in from the same direction. Coming in and out on 150 is much easier, but I seldom see people going that direction from the station. Third, the service. I have always had a good experience with the attendants here. They are courteous and efficient. They deal with difficult customers with patience, but I wish they could open another line when that situation arises. Last but not least, the pricing. In short, this is in Hoover, so it is higher than the prices at similar places in Bessemer or McCalla, but still not outrageous. Worth it for the convenience if you live on this side of town.

I was here in the evening and it was well lit and it was also relatively clean. The staff here were friendly and performed their tasks admirably. All in all, not a bad place to get gas (and those usual convenience store items). I am giving it three stars because while there is nothing wrong with this Circle K location, there is also nothing that sets this Circle K apart from other gas stations. Again, let's keep in mind three stars is average. And while I might want to find above average places to enjoy a meal or an evening out, a gas station can be three stars and still a satisfactory place to get the services and products they offer (in this case, gasoline for the car and maybe a cold bottle of water or soda). No complaints here, but I think three stars is still fair.
