There is no convenience store, and you pay at the window, but I'll take it to save a few dollars these days! Lets Keep it real, Lets get after it! The prices are good on there gasoline, however the windows on the pump are so scratched so your unable to read the pump! You cant see how may gallons your putting in the total price etc. The owner has done nothing about this in over a years time! When you give your credit card number to the window and try to communicate with them there English is very poor, they dont understand you, and you have trouble understanding them when they speak! This review is only for this station's diesel. Summer blend, winter blah blah...they sure don't effect diesel...haha As a barrel of oil crashed as of late to $30/barrel from as high as $150 just 2 years ago, of course we are all seeing the gasoline prices plummeting to under $3/gal. But, what is really outstanding here is diesel at a buck ninety nine ($1.99!!). If you do the math, a drop from $150 to $30 is an 80% drop, but gasoline prices surely didn't follow directly at ratio.!! If gas was at as high as $5, an 80% drop should make a gallon of gas be at $1 at the pumps today!! Oh well....that's a whole another story!! Let me bring out my tomboy self, yelper boys & girls (you thought I only know about my Chanels and Louboutines!!). Growing up in LA, if you don't know your cars baby, you'd better take some classes! So, the saga continues, electric, hybrid or diesel?? Let's put VW & Audis junk aside (sorry you vw/audi enthusiasts). As far as electric Tesla goes, they are fast & stylish around town, but I dare you take it anywhere out of town 200 miles+ with full AC blasting in the summer heat! Hybrids are great if you do mostly city driving and don't have the urge or need for power. However, if you want fuel efficiency and highway POWER (vroom vroom is very important...haha), you know clean bluetec diesel with turbo charging will trump hybrid any day and still gets over 600 miles to the tank!! I am talking about today. I am certain that once the technology of the electric cars improves in the next few then sure, turbo diesel would become outdated. However at this moment, I choose my daily work horse to be a 38 mpg hwy and 24mpg city (avg 30 mpg!!!) MBZ bluetec. Sorry hybrids, on that I-15 to Vegas where 215 merges to Hesperia, good luck down shifting just to keep up with the 18 wheelers, and even if you do keep up, your hybrid is gulping gas like a regular car or worse....hahaha. My turbo charged 6 cylinder diesel can keep up with any exotics up to 130 mph (not that I'd go that fast...haha). While just sipping diesel going up the hill, those V12 exotics will be gobbling gas maybe at less than 5 mile to the gallon. Before they've just had some fun punching the peddle to the metal, they'll be visiting that next gas station ahead...hahaha!!! I can literally drive from LA to San Francisco for some shopping at the Union Square then head on to Napa valley and Sonoma county to do some wine tasting then head back to LA all in one tank of diesel without any re-fueling while keeping up with all of the Kardashians including the Olympian star, Caitlin Jenner..Ha!! Anyways, enough with the boring shananigans. I give this station 5 stars for their $1.99 diesel, but minus 1 star for the awful awful access or "lack of". This station is extremely difficult to get in and out. So, unless you really love this station for some weird reason, I would actually avoid this place. There's been too many close calls here. Tonight, that close call actual became a fender bender right in front of my eyes. So unless you need the $1.99 diesel, I'd not recommend this station. read more

I went to this Shell ONCE to see if it was any different than the one just up the street on the corner of Van Nuys and Magnolia, and after taking one trip here, I will NEVER be back. I was so frustrated with my experience here that I left super annoyed and grumpy. 1) The location/layout is awful. This gas station is smaller, and therefore doesn't have as many gas pumps as most gas stations. Also, it's badly situated so that it's nearly impossible to navigate through. It's really close to the Van Nuys/Ventura intersection which allows for heavy traffic in and out of the gas station. Cars come in from different directions, and cars are parked at the pumps facing different directions and it seriously is a challenge just trying to get into the lot. Nobody knows which way is the right way so it's just like a bunch of cars sticking out in all sorts of directions. 2) The pumps are super annoying. I could not figure out how to use mine for at least 5 minutes. It's not like your usual gas pump where you just press the type of gas you want, and then it starts pumping out gas. I had to go to the cashier and ask him how to do it, but he had a thick accent and I couldn't understand him correctly so once I got back to my pump, I sat there staring at it, trying to decipher what the heck the guy said so I could figure out to select the type of gas I wanted. Super annoying... -.- 3) Gas prices are high, as with every gas station in Los Angeles. Needless to say I will be avoiding this Shell station. I'm not 100% thrilled with the Shell up the street on Van Nuys/Magnolia, but that one isn't nearly as crowded as this Shell and is also larger than this one which makes me feel much better. read more

05/21/12 - EDIT: Police hiding behind cashier spot knabbing drivers for turns! ------------------- I love how everyone puts "cheapest gas around" and then gives it 1 or 2 stars... Anywho this Shell on Moorpark+Van Nuys Blvd. has been my go-to gas spot ever since I got my license. My job and moms apt are near-by and it's the cheapest gas station in Sherman Oaks (out of like 10 stations). It's even cheaper than ARCO on Moorpark+Coldwater. I don't smoke but friends that do go here for what they say are some of the cheapest prices for cigarettes. They have $2.25 Red Bulls too which is a nice little pick me up. They've got squeeGees and paper towels too. The staff is pretty friendly with me since I'm a daily regular... but I've seen people have issue with them. They're all Asian and sometimes it's hard to communicate with them and there IS the one lady who works the night shift that is often sleep next to the window but a light tap on the window and she's ready to go. And she's pretty nice too. The annoying thing is the sleuth of homeless people next to the vending machine. Usually 5 days a week there's different ones there. I have nothing against homeless people and usually will give them a dollar, or buy them a burger in general BUT when I see the same people week-after week, month-adter-month, year-after-year... -___- And some of them cuss you out if you say no or ignore them. LOL When you are NOT originally from the 818, make sure you lift the handle underneath the pump itself to start your filling of gas. My stupid ass ignored the signs and sat for 25 minutes wondering why the numbers aren't moving on the pump. Wait forever for a pump, get harassed by some lonesome homeless guy dispensing spiritual advice. Wait in line forever, behind smokers looking for a great deal on a carton of Marlboro lights. Bad customer service and very rude attitude. I have fuel rewards and I'm not so sure how to redeem on some of them. I already call rewards customers service they said I can redeem at station. So I ask her (cashier) at the station Nicely about fuel rewards program. How to redeem it. She look confused and said i don't know. I'm only cashier in very rude attitude. I came around noon on a Friday afternoon to get gas. I just drove 45 minutes out of my way to come to the station because it has the lowest prices near my doctors office. And they said I couldn't get gas. They just started taping it up and the guy is being a real prick. Clearly customer service is not the first thing in their mind here. Why would they reboot the system around 12 PM on a Friday during the day? They should be doing this during that midnight hours when it's not fully packed with people. This is coming from the "technician". The man working the counter window doesn't speak English so he is no help. UPDATE: it only took about 10 minutes for the guy to do his "reset". But he should've told me it would only be 10 minutes. I was going to wait regardless because of how far I drove to get here. This gas station I go to for the occasional lottery ticket. It can be a pain to get in or out of this place as it's on the corner of Van Nuys/Moorpark plus there's the alley so people can enter it at 3 ways. This place tends to get crowded with people getting gas or smokes. If you're a smoker (I'm not), it's a good place to buy cigs and a couple of my smoker friends pointed that out to me. read more

As I mentioned my check in, the cashier ripped me off with regards to lottery tickets. She claims I only gave her eight dollars when in fact I know I gave her $10.
