My husband is a Navy veteran & we've gone to the VA Medical Center for many years, but only recently found this hidden gem from coming across all this positive feedback. Well, Drew did not disappoint. He & the gentleman with him took my order, which was huge (I wanted to try everything) & I'd remarked to them how impressed I was with what I'd read about their store & about them as people. The food was excellent! Perfect temperature, humungous, crisp catfish, plump gizzards, tasty pizza sticks, & both bbq & bean with cheese chimichangas/burritos. Everything was absolutely delicious. My husband & I live on Whidbey Island, so by the time we get there, which takes 2 hours, we're ready to have a feast when we get back home, which takes another 2 hours. This meal was the perfect ending to our busy day. Thank you, Drew for being such a positive fixture & an inspiration to everyone out there. You make people's day all the brighter after even just a brief encounter with you. You served your customers well for 20 years & it shows. The food alone is well worth the stop. Check it out!! The cashier surprised us when he appeared, asking if we needed help finding anything. He made our eyes even wider when he bantered with us in a friendly-flirtatious-but-in-a-nice-and-totally-uncreepifying way, and won us over when he complimented my nostril piercing, then discussed the current violence in India and his interest in domestic and foreign policy. the car needed gas. i went to go fill it up…read more i was filling up the tank like i usually do. swipe the credit card. punch in the zip code. i put the auto-shutoff release latch into place like usual as i insert the nozzle. and i know the level at which the handle should have shut off automatically. but it kept going. and then SUDDENLY, GAS STARTED GUSHING OUT OF THE TANK as the latch never activated. in a panic i have to manually release the handle to stop the gas from pouring all over the ground and to also stop the meter. so not only did i become the asshole who polluted the ground with a gallon of gasoline, but i was also given the privilege of paying for it, and in turn enriching the gas station and everyone else in the ecosystem of providing fossil fuels to us all. I CANNOT WAIT UNTIL I SWITCH OVER TO A FULLY BATTERY OPERATED CAR. when i rushed inside to tell the guy about his STUPID BROKEN GAS PUMP he acted like it was no big deal. "sometimes you get a little extra gas for free." "NO. that's what i was trying to explain. your STUPID pump is broken. you need to fix it. i can't buy gas here ever again until you fix it. i spilled a gallon of gas and i paid for it too." The card readers don't work. The tap function almost never work. So paying is a nightmare. But don't mention anything -- or they'll yell at you about "how they just work here." Since I was returning a purchase at Costco, I thought that I should refuel the rental car - especially since we will be driving more than usual this coming weekend. Finding the line to the pumps wasn't too challenging. I just waited for my turn because - hey, what else can be done? All customers played by the rules and we all got the best price for gasoline! I'll probably be back before I return the rental car. This Costco Gasoline Station is on the way to the airport for me! Thanks!
