Loved it. Came in for dinner with my friend. Inside is simple, bright, and clean. A few tables for seating but good for a small group. We were craving shrimp so we got the 1lb of shrimp and the bang bang shrimp, both with garlic noodles. The bang bang shrimp have a great crunch from the batter and a nice creamy sauce. I'll have to ask for extra sauce next time. We got the Cajun mix with the shrimp. So good. The 1lb shrimp combo can probably be shared by 2 people. Will definitely be coming back to try more. Came here with my family and ordered a shrimp mussel and clam combo and extra calamari. We chose the butter garlic sauce bc some of our kids could not handle heat but prefer a side of an Asian spicy sauce for dipping. The price is decent and the food is not as salty as the boiling crabs. They were so nice to give us some free beignets. Tucked away in a quiet plaza with plenty of parking, we came on a Saturday night around 5:30pm to pick up our online order (really easy to order online). It was quiet in the restaurant but the staff were really friendly and had our order ready and hot. We ordered the seafood platter and with some add ons we had crab legs, lobster tail, potatoes, sausages, corn, shrimp, crawfish and squid with Cajun sauce. On the side we had two plates of garlic noodles and fried butterflied shrimp with fries. It was plenty of food for four people! Taking the food to go was a breeze, they placed the seafood in a giant tray and the sauce didn't spill during travel. Not super saucy like a lot of other places but I think you can definitely taste the sauce on each one of the items in the tray! Especially the corn and shrimp where it fits right into the edges (the headless shrimp was also deveined, making it easier to peel than other places). I loved the whole garlic gloves in the sauce and in the garlic noodles! It's not crawfish season so I think that explains why the crawfish was not as fresh as the other seafood. Garlic noodles are bomb! I could eat so much of it. Oily and garlicky as expected and so so good! The fries were soggy from transport but they are good! I recommend to air fry them if you want them crispy. Shrimp was breaded and fried well, tasty and gave us a good amount. Overall I would recommend this restaurant to others in the area! read more

The food here is amazingly delicious and very reasonably priced I just want to keep this best kept secret to myself but at the same it's just so darn good that I feel compelled to share this with my fellow yelpers and to help this new business thrive. This is a must try if you live around Chino Hills or just visiting the area. Everything is so fresh, juicy and full of flavor. So far we've tried these: - shrimp combo which comes with sausage, potatoes and corn on the cob. We chose the Cajun mix which is so tasty, buttery and garlicky that you just can't stop eating them. It's also really nice that you can choose to have the shrimp with the skin off for those who don't really want the hassle of peeling them. On top of it all, you also get to choose 2 carbs and we opted for the garlic noodle and rice. - Bang Bang shrimp which is really nicely done. The fried shrimp has a light and crispy coating and complemented with a refreshingly light sweet and sour sauce which is not too sweet nor too sour, everything is just so well seasoned. This dish also comes with the addicting garlic noodle on the side. Inside they have about 6 tables that seat 4 people and a larger table that would probably fit 6-8 people. We like the nicely decorated interior that has a charming nautical theme. Can't wait to return and try other items including the beignet! [FOOD] 1lb shrimp combo with asian pepper (mala) sauce - this came with 1lb of shrimp, sausages, corn, and some potatoes. Honestly, for 18 bucks this was a LOT of food. It can definitely feed 2 people. The sauce was very savory and packed the sichuan spices from China, a very adventurous take on cajun seafood. It was bomb. Garlic noodles - I was skeptical but the minced beef or whatever it comes with is hella good. I threw it on the rice instead. Rice - As Chinese person, I know my rice. This was GOOD rice. Just the right amount of stickiness. [SERVICE] Great! [PLACE] Tiny lil mom and pop shop in an odd plaza. Lots of parking tho. They definitely would benefit a lot if they moved somewhere with more traffic such as the center of Rowland Heights. I'm an Island Gyal so we are people of the sea & this place has the BEST seafood boil I've ever had. Clean restaurant, interior decor on point but most importantly fresh savory seafood choices, home friendly service & pocket friendly (IYKYK seafood boils Can get pricey $$$). When you understand how the menu/system works you'll see you are actually getting an amazing deal (more bang for your buck). Sausages, potatoes & Corns already included in your order. They have add ons if you are looking to add more to your order. You get SO MUCH FOOD! One order can feed two easily. Garlic bread toasted to perfection w/a nice even cover of butter & garlic. Sweet potatoes fries have a crisp crunch on the outside and soft on the inside lightly topped off w/a dash of sugar. So yummy. I always end up ordering more. They have the "good rice" so you know it's already a winner. And their water doesn't taste like pipes and is served from a filtered pitcher. The shrimp are BIG pieces of shrimp. The sizing of the shrimp they use is easily 16-20. In comparison to Boiling crab, or Kicking crab, or any seafood boil place that I've been to they use shrimp size 26-30 which is a small. Shell Seafood Shack uses Large shrimp (there's only two sizes bigger than this, Jumbo & Colossal) so now you know you are getting quality pieces. I love my shrimp with the shell on & for the first time ever, I've NEVER been to a restaurant that had Deveined Shell on shrimp! Just clean. Crab legs are crab legs, can never ever go wrong with crab legs. Our snow crab leg clusters always have meat. I usually get them steamed to the side with no seasoning & ask for butter on the side. Sausages aren't spicy, they are regular sausages. Corn is sweet & potatoes are firm enough to bite into it with ease. The mixings...whew FIRE! Not spicy unless you want it to be. Not salty like most places and just had a different flavor that makes you want to dip for more. I mix all of them together. BANGBANG shrimp is def what it says. Sooo good. It's breaded fried shrimp topped with their BANGBANG sauce. Similar to a sweet & sour sauce but not quite like s&s. TRY IT! My brother finished his whole pan that had mussels, crawfish included and said it's the best he had. He lived in the south for about 6 years. Then we were offered a complimentary serving of beignets. As if this place couldn't do more, they have this for a dessert. So light after eating heavy so you don't feel as guilty lol. What I love most aside from everything tasting delicious, is that everything is served in a pan. BEST IDEA EVER! Depending on how big your order is, is how big the foil pan you receive. It's so convenient bc then you can just put on the lid and take your left overs to go. They don't give you those tacky breakable gloves you usually get at seafood places, they offer the good quality gloves & bibs. ALCOHOL is near in the future. Mark is working his magic to make that happen and says the time frame to serve will hopefully be a month or two. He makes a killer shoju!!! So once that's up and running, it's a done deal. A week ago I was looking for something new to eat in Chino Hills and found this place. We came on Friday evening We ordered 1 dock combo meal. And chose 1 pound of shrimps and 1/2 pound of mussels. It came with pieces of sausages, mini corn on the cob, and potatoes. We picked Cajun mix as our sauce. For our two side we picked rice and the garlic noodles. They also had the option for garlic bread as well. The portion was perfect for 3 adults. For dessert we tried their beignets. It came with 8 pieces and was topped with powdered sugar. The food was amazing delicious. We will absolutely will come back to try other seafood items. If you are seafood lovers, come try this restaurant. The service was wonderful at this cute little place. I wonder how this place gets 4.8? Let me start by saying that the reason we ended up here is due to these deceiving reviews. We are in the area and craving seafood so we tried this place but infortunately another failed attempt at wanna be Boiling Crab the sauce is a joke it's bland did not taste like Cajun. also they just put 2 tsp of sauce for 4 lbs of seafood that we ordered plus, the 4lbs looks 2lbs! Finally got to check this place out after hearing so many raving things about it and I agree this place is worth checking out if you want your kicking crab fix without having to pay extra for de-shelled or paying $$$ in general. Food: the flavors are really good. They're a little different and unique with a Chinese "spice numbing" option and it's even better than BC/KC. Def ask for their version of the "whole shabang". What I like most is that yes the shrimps are already peeled, deveined, and without the head but the size is still really good! They also already include the sides and add one that you would have to pay $$$ for elsewhere. Literally 1 pound of food is plenty for even 2. My husband and I stopped by the shell seafood shack during their soft opening. When we first saw the menu, we thought it was pretty pricey. However, we didn't know the pound of shrimp price included sausages, potatoes, corn, AND a side of carb! The pound of shrimp with Cajun sauce was very delicious. The shrimps were freshly prepared as we ordered - the kitchen is semi open concept and we were able to see them cook. Shrimps are headless for those who doesn't like to look at shrimp heads. The portion was pretty big. We ordered a pound of shrimp and fried calamari and we were so full and barely finished all the food. We came back couple days later and got the whole fried fish. It came with two sauces (forgot what they were but the sauces were very good too). It was so good and crispy. My husband was very happy with this dish and he wants to order again. The way you order is not that clear at first glance, but when you realize how it works, you know you are getting quite a deal. For example, we ordered the 1lb of shrimp for $16.99 (it's a market price and can change), but you actually get a tray of shrimp with corn, sausage, and potatoes. You also get to choose 2 carbs: rice, noodles, or garlic bread. So we ordered the shrimp and the snow crab, and had them put it all in one larger tray. I'll say the snow crab is not as thick and full as a similar style business in the area, but it's also significantly lower priced. I'll take that! The shrimp though, I would order that every week. Shell Shack offers combos where your 1lb order of shrimp comes with potatoes, sausage , and corn and 2 sides to choose from garlic bread, garlic noodles (the obvious choice) and rice . $22-$24 for a 1lb bag of shrimp is def enough to feed 2 people ! Also they offer the shrimp peeled where the shrimps are deveined and you get more because less weight per shrimp due to lack of shell. Also peeled option is great for those who don't want to get their hands dirty . Meal is served on a nice silver platter and not in a plastic bag which I always wondered how other places got away with... The amount of food you get for the amount you pay is surprisingly good too. The family, especially the hardworking chef was very enthusiastic! So underrated, would come back again as usual! I will definitely be back again. I purchased the 2 lobster tail meal and added in Shrimp and Scallops. Service was great, they took the time to explain the menu and how it all worked (was my first time here). I took the order to go, and when I got home, the serving size on the main was no joke. It was enough for me for 2 meals easy! I also got the Garlic Noodles and the rice. Next time I will get double garlic noodles! Not because the rice was not good, but it was because the noodles were that good. Plus, I can make rice at home in a pinch. Owners also helped me to call "Toast" so I could get my points since I signed up after I placed my order. So in conclusion, I will definitely be back for more! Ordered the Shrimp combo and added the Scallops as take-out. Chose Da-mix sauce in medium-hot and it was very tasty. This was a lot of food for two people as it also included sausage/potatoes/corn on the cob mixed in. Garlic noodles & white rice also came with the meal (like I said a lot of food). The noodles were kinda plain tasting but the seafood medley made up for it. Everyone working was very friendly. Man...I had such high expectations. The server was very nice and informative, and the reviews were good. We picked dungeness crab and added some squid to the mix. We were excited as we watched the old cook come out and pick up a fair sized "live" crab and go back to the kitchen area. And we waited patiently. A few minutes later the garlic bread and pasta came and they were good, although the portions were small: one piece of bread and about a quarter plate of pasta. Another 10 minutes or so, the staff brought us the big plate of seafood. As you can see from the photo, the plate was oversized for the amount of food, and more importantly, the sausages were barely cooked, and the casing haven't shrunk even a little. My first impression was that there was no steam, and confirmed that the food was lukewarm to the touch. That's when I realized we were being served frozen crab a la San Francisco Pier. I told the waiter the food was not hot and the cook offered to heat it up some more, but we decided to just finish our meal and get out of this place. There are no signs that say they were cooking live crabs, but the whole acting to pick up a live crab from the tank made the deal very shady. The crab was also on the small side, about 1 pound, and the waiter actually said they were giving us a $5 discount for a smaller crab (normal size were supposed to be between 1 1/2-2lbs. I don't mind that the seafood was frozen, I had great meals at Crab Shack before they closed. But with the staff telling us to wait for the "steaming", then the food coming out lukewarm...I recommend against going to this place. The waiter was nice so we still gave him 15%. read more
