So I hear this place is under new management, and it is kitty corner from my old high school, so I knew where it was. What brought me here was my friend who now also lives in the area said they had a special $12.99 oil change to celebrate this. Since I needed a new oil change and didn't need my fluids checked (as they do at Walmart but it costs more and synthetic oil) I said sure. I get there and it was busy, some waiting for a change or just getting gas, the place itself didn't seem to be that different from when I remember; it was always a gas station here. People were inside working but I know they noticed me as one of them looked at me, but decided to wait a minute to actually say anything, and it was in short sentences. He called another guy This guy was right to the point and professional, and the wait was nothing. I wish they had wifi, but not a big deal nor contributing factor to score. I asked about taking pics for this review...they pointed me to a guy outside taking down the special sign (this was an hour before they closed ) so I asked him to tkae come pics of the garage for the review. Very curtly he said no and pretty much ignored me after that, which it did put me off, as all I wanted to do was to make this profile. I guess I am venting but it IS a new biz and he could have been more tactful. The other thing was....my buddy was running late so he asked me to call what time it closed. I thought 5 but called and the person on the other end had told me that they were closed. He also said the price I paid for the oil change was going to be the nirmal price, unless I misunderstood, and I don't think I did. After calling my friend up he told me he had also called and said that they were open still. Whatever. I did like the fact (according to the signage on the wall) that 2 pumps were handicap/elderly full service pumps. So if you are in the area...you could get it done here...I would call on what the price is. Pics are posted, one may show price but after the phone call and exchange, best to be sure. This has been our go-to place to fill up, just because it's close. Cheaper gas can be had (at the Citgo on Caldwell near Touhy), but we're often guilty of laziness. I'm not so happy with them after an incident this morning. I pulled up to a pump, swiped my card, waited for authorization then - nothing. Tried a few more times, then - hesitant b/c my daughter was in the back seat - dashed in the store to tell the owner it wasn't working. After some grumbling ("Wait a minute," he told me), owner came out - but went to the woman parked behind me: she was having problems, too. He finally came over, and launched into a tutorial: "First you swipe your card, then you press this...." Now, I know very well how to pump my own gas. Done it for many years, thank you. It was not operator error. Then when he couldn't make it work he told me to come inside, and he processed my debit card from there. I put $20 on it, and was told, "OK it'll work now." Nope, it didn't. So I dashed back inside again (I hate leaving a 2 year old strapped in the car, even if I am close by). I informed him that it was the pump that wasn't working. I wound up moving over to a different, working pump. (Hard to maneuver in a tight space - even harder with 12 people backed up in a cue). I wasn't put off by the pump problem, so much as the owner's attitude. For some reason they ask you twice if you really want the car wash, but the second time it asked "DISC BETTER"... what is that supposed to mean? I paid more for my gas and they weren't able to provide me with the free car wash. Absolute rip off. These guys can't even properly speak English. Very frustrating having to deal with them. My daughter ran out of and was stuck in the Notre Dame parking lot with no money. I phoned this Shell and he graciously allowed her to fill up her tank while I gave him my information over the phone. I don't know anyone who would've done that for a teenager--or for anyone at all to be honest, but I'm so thankful they were willing to help her out. read more

Took a new charcoal canister for installation. Charge me $85. The engine check light came back on after a few days. Had to take my car to Dempster Auto and looked for Mr. Kim. Mr. Kim spotted that the hoses were connected incorrectly. This place could not even installed the canister correctly. Would never take my car here anymore. My engine check light was off after Mr. Kim fixed his mess. read more

Free air here! Nothing else really to brag about this location though. It's your pretty average Shell with average prices for the area. The overhead shelter is a bit small so you may get wet if you're seeking shelter here in the rain while you're filling up on some gas. The mechanic is okay. I would never trust my personal car here however. My brother had left his car here for a day or two for some repairs to the brakes in his Toyota Highlander. When he got it back, him and I went for a drive and it clearly smelled like someone had been smoking in or near it with something of a greener nature. The actual repairs were done well and although I'm a DIY kind of guy, I would say the work was cheap enough that I wouldn't call it a total ripoff. read more

So get this, this morning the exhaust pipe on my mom's car became unhinged and was dragging, she pulled into this gas station since it was the first one she saw for some assistance. The "mechanic" (I say mechanic sarcastically) cut part of the exhaust pipe off and in the process also severed/cut the wires for the oxygen sensor (which was JUST replaced for emissions testing a month ago) instead of simply unhooking/unfastening the oxygen sensor. Anyone with HALF a brain could figure out that you simply unfasten the oxygen sensor and that cutting the wires was COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY. Instead of being helpful they've made the situation worse and the oxygen sensor has to be replaced again because of the incompetence of the employees here. There are no mechanics here. I wouldn't trust them with an oil change. Beware! read more

This gas station has Mechanics that do the worst job in the world. The Mechanic there changed my shocks and broke of the thread end that hold the shock with a nut. They did not tell me about it and sent me down the road. Heading East on Dempster and a concerned citizen said the my shock was hang from the bottom of the car. Cost me 280.00 to fix. They also replaced the U mounts and connected them directly to the springs. This broke the spring and I also had to replace the drive shaft. I got nothing but a complete run around from them and finally called the Police. Now! I have to go to small claims court if I want to get my money back. All of them stopped speaking English and would not give the Morton Grove Police the owners information. They are not certified Mechanics and do choppy work. Stay away!!!!!!! read more

Bad oil change experience Complaints: 1) Mechanic broke hood release and would not admit to it. 2) Special $15 oil change made my check engine light come on. I immediately did another oil change the same day at Just Tires. Manager at Just Tires said "oil" (please note the quotation marks) used was not oil. It looked like recycled water. It was not thick like oil at all. I have taken my business elsewhere and would advise that other people do the same. read more
