I stopped by this Shell station and immediately felt something was off. The convenience store doesn't show up on Google, and even the Shell listing seems to be missing...almost as if the business is trying to wipe reviews, based on what I observed. When you walk inside, nothing has prices listed, which is already a red flag. At the counter, there are signs saying "ALL SALES FINAL" printed on plain paper, which only confirmed what came next: massive markups. Items that normally cost $3-$4 were priced at $6+. I'm leaving this review so others at least have something to reference before wasting their time or money. Of course, anyone can choose to buy whatever they want, but consider this a heads up. Holy markups batman Stopped for gas on the way home yesterday, it was about par for the other gas stations in the area so no complaints there. Girl at the counter barely spoke and wasn't very friendly at all. What gets me is the prices inside the store. 2 drinks, a kind bar and a small package of beef jerky was $30. I was going to get a red bull but a 16oz was $8.50, the prices are outrageous and the place is dirty. I know that'll be the last stop I make at this location. read more

Super sus - every card transaction at the register automatically declines... then takes the charge. First pump didn't work at all for transactions. Second pump, after putting in a pin, had a blank screen. Took a chance and started pumping. It worked. But no receipt at the pump. Change the machines! Upgrade! Consumers: protect yourselves by getting a receipt and use a credit card (using a debit card and having to dispute a transaction could take weeks or months; most credit cards resolve within 72 hours). The attendant was kind and had great customer service (hence two stars versus none!), but the experience with the transactions make me weary to return. read more

Never thought I would join Yelp with intentions of reviewing gas stations, but I thought if I can help anybody save some major $$ then I'll do it. So Silly Me volunteered to pay for gas at this stop in our roadtrip to Sacramento. At $6.79 a gallon I figured this might've been the normal price the further north you go in CA, so I went ahead and filled the entire gas tank. So imagine my frustration when continuing along the 5 Freeway Northbound and seeing towns with posted gas signs at $4.39!! Now I'm kicking myself for getting fleeced for that extra $2.48 a gallon, over $35 total for the fillup! GRRR!! (that's the sound of me getting mad, and also my Daniel Tiger impression) And it's not just Shell, but every gas station at this corner is charging around $6.79/gallon. So YES, every gas station in this town is in on the price-gouging, price-fixing, or whatever you call it. And it's not just the gas. But the Food Mart inside is expensive as Hell. There weren't any price tags on their snacks, but when my wife brought a bag of chips to the register to temporarily appease my child's hunger the charge was $4.89! I would've given this place One Star, but at least the clerk was very friendly when I asked for a reprint of the receipt. And their toilet flushed without overflowing after I did #1, so I'll give it that. So my advice is that if you HAVE to stop at Kettleman City for gas then just get 1-3 gallons. Enough to get to the next town where prices are more normal. If going South this would be 35 miles to Lost Hills where there are couple of gas stations at $4.29/gallon* (I believe they're both cash/debit only places). If going North you only have to go 13 miles to Avenal where there's one place at $4.39/gallon* And the other towns along the 5 Fwy are in the 4s as well, so if you can plan your gas usage accordingly then drive past Kettleman City entirely without a glance. *Gas prices posted on GasBuddy.com as of 5/2/23 read more

It's in a convenient location with many restaurants nearby. We pulled over to use the restroom and get more gas in our minivan. Unfortunately the restroom was closed because it was either too late or they were cleaning it. The cashier was kind enough to point to McD's across the way where they have both indoor and outdoor restrooms. read more

Bathrooms are for customers i was greated with upon walking in. I said i am a customer and used the bathroom. while walking i was stopped at the door with said gentleman behind the counter, " i thought you were going to buy something" replied as i pointed outside. yes gas tempted to drive across the street to get my gas i instead put in $10 of fuel. What an asshole, what a way to treat people when people are not spending money i chise to bring business. never again. go to the Chevron across the street. This review is about a Shell station located at 25712 Ward Dr, Kettleman City, CA 93239. I stopped at this location early on a Sunday morning recently about 5:30 am, and folks, my opinion is never stop there. The pumps were all vandalized, the card readers were in-op, the entire station was disgusting and so dirty and sticky I was afraid to walk anywhere, let alone track all the filth into my vehicle. Then going inside was even worse. Attendant was completely rude and unhelpful and would not even allow me a second receipt after pumping my gas. Stay far away from this place. Absolutely awful. On our drive to Lemoore, my family stopped here to fill up on some gas, use the restroom and get some snacks. First thing I noticed was the price of gas. Holy $h!t, almost $4 for a gallon of gas in the armpit of California?! Seriously??? And freaking flies everywhere!!!!!!!! It's pissing me off just thinking about it. The convenience store had a decent selection and the cashier wasn't horrible, a smile would be nice though. This Shell station is conveniently located just off the exit for Kettleman City and just to the East. There are plenty of gas pumps, a convenience store, and even two healthy food options, Baja Fresh and Quiznos. The restrooms (which are shared by all 3) are located inside the convenience store. The women's restroom had four stalls and was reasonably clean. There was a Koala Kare changing station in the handicapped stall. The fountain inside the convenience store has two options: Diet Pepsi or Diet Coke. The refrigerated beverage section has an excellent selection of sodas, water, and energy drinks. There are plenty of options for munchies of both the sweet and the savory varieties. They don't carry Takis chips (my favorite) but they do carry Kettle chips so that worked. There is easy access both on and off freeways. There are clean restrooms. There are two choices of healthy food options. The minimart is well stocked. There's not much to complain about read more

I don't know what the first reviewer is saying by saying that there is a McDonalds in this Shell when the McDonalds is across the street at the Chevron ... however, ever since this Shell has renovated itself, it has been a fantastic experience (as I've been coming here even prior to its renovation). They have nice, big, clean bathrooms inside which shelters you away from the weather, whatever the weather may be that day, and their gas station is setup nicely so you can fill up easily without having to go around a lot of people. read more

This Shell is truly terrible. I made a stop here to get gas. Usually when the gas is done pumping, the pump makes a click and stops on its own. I look over and see that my car is gushing out gas. I tell the attendants what happened, and they apologize - telling me that they forgot to put up the sign that says the pump is broken. ...you just don't forget that major detail. I was stuck at that gas station for an hour waiting for the gas to stop gushing out of my car. Aside from that, this gas station always has broken pumps. There are plenty other gas stations at the Kettleman City stop, take your business elsewhere! read more

She purchased 2 items and went to use the facilities and came right back out to the car. She stated the bathroom had feces all over the toilets, no seat covers, nor any paper towels. First time stopping at this Shell. Usually, we stop at the Chevron across the street with the McDonald's but there was such a long line over there to pump gas. So we stoppped here, while they also had long lines, it seemed quicker. Went inside to the restrooms too, and there wasn't a long line, like it usually is at the Chevron. Yeah the restroom is in poor condition, but what do you expect here on I-5 and in Kettlemen City? Inside the food mart, the prices are not listed on the shelves, but whateves. The prices are high, but what can you expect? They know they can get you, they know you'll need to buy things for convience. They know you are in a hurry, so you'll pay the price. The 2 ladies working there, were fast and efficient. They were friendly and helpful. This Shell also has a Baja Fresh and Quizos attached with it. read more

I bought a $20 scratcher there about 3 weeks ago,it was about 9:00 pm and the ticker got stuck in the machine,the guy working said he doesn't have a key to get it out of there. I asked him how can I get my ticket or just give me my $20,he informed me he that he can't do anything about it and I'll have to talk to his manager,so I left my name and number hoping he would call and let me know he retrieved my ticket,well he never called so about a week later I called and I couldn't hardly understand him but he knew what I was talking about carrying on about a one dollar bill stuck in the machine blah blah blah. So he totally lied about not retrieving my ticket and flat out told me I'm outta luck. So the way I figure it,he stole my ticket and then lied about it. I know it's only $20 but I work hard for my money and to have someone blatantly lie about it and steal my ticket is sooooo wrong. So please don't buy anything there and especially scratchers out of the machine because if the ticket gets stuck in there and the manager is not there so you can watch him open the machine and hand it to you,then you'll be out your hard earned money. We all know the story, long road trip, time to pull over and fill up the gas tank, stretch the legs, buy snacks, and use the restroom. We happened to be at this exit when it came time and we stopped here at the shell. I grabbed my wallet and headed inside. I decided to get the rest stop out of the way first. An employee had barricaded trash cans outside of the ladies restroom and was sweeping just inside the door. When I asked if could come in and use one of the stalls she informed me that the restroom would be closed for the next 20 minutes. (really? At 1 in the afternoon?) I really had to go and I pleaded with her to just let me use one of the stalls real quick since she was just sweeping. She said no. Then a voice came from inside one of the stalls from a customer that was still in there letting her know that the bathroom was still in use. The employee still wouldn.t let me in. At that point I just left. I told my boyfriend not to buy gas or snacks there. We drove across the street to the Chevron station. They were also servicing their ladies room, but they were letting customers use it and the employee was cleaning and restocking between customers. My friends and I drive back and forth from LA to SF frequently and kettleman city is a often where we stop. I will never give my business to the shell station again and I will tell all my friends. Customer service is important. I work in the service industry and I always go out of my way to provide excellent customer service. There was no valid reason why the employee at the shell couldn't let me quickly use a stall in the ladies room. She just didnt want to. It was a poor customer service choice and has caused her employers to lose revenue. read more

If I could rate this place zero stars I would definitely. I came out to this location to buy a drink and I happen to bring my younger sibling with me to help out and carry some stuff to the car and I first noticed the fountain drinks weren't working properly so I decided to buy the 20 oz bottle drinks instead. I gave two bottles (A 1 liter and a 20 oz) to my sibling and she had $20 on her to purchase her drinks. I let her go first to grab some other things and when I came back I noticed she never got the right amount. I went through with my purchase and my total was $13.07?!? For 2 20oz bottles and a water my absolute total was $13.07? Most pricing for a 20oz would be like $1.89 and for the water would be $2.87 which would add up to $6.67 plus tax but $13.07 REALLY??? Then the manager had the audacity to treat me like an idiot when I asked him how much everything was and insulted me in Spanish when I was trying to pay for everything but his own debt machine don't even work either. Now that I look back at it I wish I never paid for the drinks and waited but after a long day in pismo I sucked it up and still bought them after chevron across the street was closed. When I got to my car frustrated I noticed my sisters money she got back was only $5.00. So your telling me he also had the extra mile to scam my sister over 2 20oz bottles for $15.00 plus tax?! I decided to never go back there whenever I take my trips to pismo and I'll be stopping more in Paso Robles. This is honestly the worst gas station iv ever been to. First off no restrooms available. We ordered burritos at the bajan fresh they were out of cheese and guacamole to start the food was bland and barely edible and not the cleanest place either I would suggest going a little further to another establishment if you are spending your hard earned money.
