Went in to get gas on pump # 3 today. First card reader is broken, so we pay inside with ATM card. Then try to pump gas and it won't pump. Go back inside and they tell us we pumped $1.72 we didn't but oh well. Ask to transfer over to pump # 4 and the cashier says she refunded it to the card. I know that refunds don't go back right away and seeing as this is 4th of July weekend it'll be Tuesday or Wednesday before I see my money back into my account because of their machinery not working and the incompetence of the cashier to not just transfer the money to another pump. It was already authorized...so they will get 3 or 4 days interest on my money. Glad I had money in my account to cover the gas twice!!! Or be stuck in the armpit of California until I got it ****UPDATE***** it's now July 7th and I still haven't received the refund that the cashier said would go right back!!! Will be filing a claim with my bank. Finally got refund via my bank. I even emailed She'll corporate and advised them of this issue and still to this date, August 16, 2016 have yet to receive anything more than their auto response email that they did in fact get the email. So it goes to show that She'll Corporate does not value their customers nor their experiences- even if to show empathy for a bad experience due to failure of their equipment. PROS: MEGA CLEAN BATHROOMS CONS: SUPER EXPENSIVE GAS HOLY OVERPRICED GAS BATMAN. Then again all the gas stations along the 5 are overpriced. BECAUSE THEY CAN. BASTARDS. Saving grace of this Shell is that it has MEGA CLEAN bathrooms all the time. And I've been to this Shell more times than I can count. read more

Pulled in with just under a half tank of gas to fill up before my long drive down south. I wasn't paying attention and the next thing I know it says I've pumped 18 gallons of gas (my car is 19.2 capacity). There's no way it could've taken that much. When I stopped the pump, I wasn't given a receipt. Then when I started my car, the gas guage only went up to just under 3/4! I called the store and they told me it must be a problem with my car since their pumps are checked monthly. There's no way my car took 18 gallons of gas. Complete scam and ripoff. I will be contacting Shell corporation. Beware!! read more

REALLY GROSS bathroom!! 2 out of 4 bathrooms were out of order (1 of them had a sign on the door, the other just had the toilet covered with a black trash bag) and the line was out the door and down the hall. The toilets had signs inside that said NOT to flush the toilet paper after you used it with an open trash can for your wiped on toilet paper. It smelled so badly in there. Truly disgusting. Please don't buy lottery at this place. We bought 4 tickets, $2 each for Powerball. The cashier gave 2 tickets were already drawn the day before and useless in the next drawing. So basically, she scammed $4 from us. This happened on Sunday Dec 31st, 2017, around 3-4PM. The owner can go back to security tapes to see what happened. read more

I always make a stop at Kettleman City on the way down to LA. I usually stop at Chevron but since it's usually so popular and full, I decided to try the Shell right next to it. Be aware they have a different gas price for credit card usage at the pump! They had a TINY TINY sign under the humongous normal sign with all the prices that says "credit prices".. which goes unnoticed because of all the other advertisements they stick on the grass like "You earn 5 cents/gallon!" "Sign up for the Shell card!", etc. The 76 on the other side of the street also has a small separate sign for the credit card users.. so just be on the lookout! read more

Don't get tricked. The shell only posts their cash price which looks like it is the same as the Chevron right across the street but then you realize that if you use credit card it is a whole $0.10 more. If you're in a rush then I guess you can fill up here, but Chevron is busy for a reason. read more

This location is on the newer side and very clean. Theres a Quiznos and Baja Fresh in the same building. Gas is a little on the higher side. Cheap sunglasses avail here!!! Large snack selection and cold beverages. The clerk was nice and friendly. Nice place to grab a bite and some fuel!!!! The parking lot is large and easy to maneuver.... read more

Convenient snacks, convenient location right along the 5 freeway...but horrible, horrible customer service from the staff from the food mart. Firstly, this is a general convenience food stop, attached to a shell gas station with your basic "on the road" snacks, drinks, and basically junk food. Well stocked and generally a clean place to go if you are looking for a rest stop. There are also two fast food places (Baja and I forget the second one) joined with the food mart on the left side, which is another plus for those looking for some fast food. The women's bathrooms were decent here with about 4 stalls, so if you were to arrive in a large group (e.g. stopping by for a rest from the Megabus) you'd be waiting in line for a bit, so I might recommend to go to McDonald's as an alternative. What really got me here was the lack of customer service from one of the staff. I had wished I got her name, as her service to me was astonishingly rude. I had wanted to purchase some snacks for on the road, and had asked her politely if there was a debit card fee (as I knew arco had such thing with debit cards) and she answered me in such a rude tone of voice that they don't have such fee. As she was finishing, she was glaring at me with a mean look, which was uncalled for! Her general attitude and demeanor towards her workplace and customers is unacceptable. It had appeared that she had no regards or awareness to how terrible how attitude was. Also appeared that she disliked her workplace very much. But it doesn't give her an excuse to use that dislike and treat customers badly. There is a need for the staff to have retraining sessions on how to treat customers with respect. I had left the store feeling very uncomfortable and disrespected. So for the convenience, 4 stars and the very rude customer service, -2 stars= 2 stars. Sometimes, even though the business is decent, the lack of customer can ruin what could have been a good experience. read more

This shell has a McDonalds in it. Ask for ketchup because they aren't going to give you shiet. except what you ordered and a bag. 4 Stars, Big Parking lot, Mcky D's and clean bathroom. read more

Had a rousing discussion with the cashiers regarding cold and congestion medication when I stopped by here while driving back down to San Diego. Good people. Good service. That bathroom line to the ladies can get very long but it wasn't that big of a deal. Those ladies get in and out. read more

Restrooms are disgusting!! Everything was dirty from the toilets to the floors to the sinks to the mirrors! There was crap all over all the toilets expect one and that one didn't even flush. Disgusting! read more

After losing a gas receipt that I needed for work reimbursement, I contacted Shell in Kettleman City. The receipt would have been almost 3 weeks old and employee, Angela, alerted me that the computer log only goes back 6 days. Angela went out of her way, on a break, to locate the hard copy in a box of old receipts. Angela provided customer service above and beyond what was expected. The owners of this gas station should not hire people who hate all living things such as fluffy puppies and cute fat babies. On the 17th my husband and I stopped here in the middle of the night while traveling so I could use the restroom and fill up the gas tank. My husband also wanted me to get a soda while I was in there. Upon entering the gas station the lady working behind the register was staring at me with such hate and anger that I seriously thought she wanted to either kill and eat me or that she had already killed and ate the person who actually worked there and was only posing as the register attendant......... She just stared me down without any kind of greeting or even the slightest hint of a smile, regardless I gave her a huge smile as I proceeded to the restroom with still no effort of customer service or human decency on her part. The bathroom was filthy, messy and smelled like something (or someone...) had died. After using the facilities and washing my hands....twice, I went to find the soda for my husband and brought it to the counter. After she helped the guy in from of me I placed the soda on the counter and smiled at her. She still offered no smile and told me, with a smug and irritated attitude, that the register didn't work right and had to warm up and unless I had the exact change I would have to wait a really long time for the register to warm up. I said no thank you and kindly returned the soda back to the fridge just to find out that the pump credit card machine didn't work either...... read more

First thing that indicates whether a place is clean or not is their bathrooms. The bathroom walls are filthy and leaves it less than desirable. The first you notice is all the trash and hand paper all over the floor. Now I understand that it's not the staff that made the mess but rather the customers doing but staffers must periodically make routine visits to clean up its establishment. You can't simply clean in the morning and expect the bathrooms to stay functional and welcoming throughout the entire day especially at a main gas station stop for travelers. Not a pleasant stop when you see clogged dirty toilets. With so many gas stations to stop at, as a business, you can't hurt your business by making your place less desirable to step foot in.
