I usually come here to get my safety check done. I've never had a bad experience and the staff is always friendly. It is a first come first served basis for safety check and usually not a long wait unless you go on the last couple days of the month. It is located at the corner or Ward Avenue and Queen Street. To get your safety check, you pull into the farthest lane closest to the cashier attendant facing the mountain just beside the first gas pumps. A employee comes out and goes through the tests that he needs to check. Once he is done, you go inside to pay for it. Then he comes out, takes a few photos and places your new safety check onto your vehicle. If you want your old safety check removed, you will need to do it yourself which is no problem for me. The service is very quick and takes no more than 10-15 minutes. The cost is $26. read more

I LOVE my ride!! This is what my dad used to call his regular place (not here) a service station as that's what they did is come out and service your car...the full or mini service. Sadly those days are long gone and it's all self service so folks like me rely on places like this who still service your car for maintenance though on this day it was for a friend so I met her here and took her to her destination. It seems like the garage opens at 7 so I got here a bit too early so I decided to use this time to browse a bit and was delighted to see a gas station conveniently located on a busy corner to have all the basic needs such as a air station and squeegee besides the usual ATM and mini mart. Dont come here at night , Cashier who works counter "Pedro" is very unprofessional. Just ask to get coffee in the fridge and he could not figure out which coffee I want even though reiterated which one. Tried to also argue with me over my change difference for gas load I put for my tank. He needs to go through proper customer service training. Been refueling our cars here multiple times coz it's convenient on my case. You cannot get the best service you want but sometimes conveniency is the priority. So why 3 stars? - cramped most of the time - lotsa homeless passin' by and asking pennies - most attendants here are plain rude A lot of people find this place a bit sketchy but what can you say? These people love hanging out here for no reason, maybe by asking some change or they just felt comfortable enough to hang around. Be extra careful if you are refueling here. I pulled up to get gas and all of the pumps were full with cars waiting. The stall closest to the cashier had the manager doing a safety check. He had the car pulled in the middle of the 2 pumps. I pulled as close as I could to the stall and the pump and rolled my window down and asked him if he could have the car pull forward 2 feet. He ignored me and walked away. It's pretty tight in there and to pull out and wait for another pump is pretty tricky with a big suv. The pump barely reached the gas tank and I had to sit there pulling as hard as I could to keep the pump in. I gave up pumping half way and while I was getting into my car the manager came back. I said nicely to him, if you had him pull up 2 feet then people could use the gas pump. He tried to ignore me again so I walked right up to him and he said rudely next time I should wait for another pump to open up. I told him there was a line of cars waiting for the pumps and I needed gas. He was so rude and told me he was the manager and he didn't care. So I told him then that's ok I'll go fill up my huge SUV somewhere else 2X a week. People just don't understand customer service anymore. You're gonna block 2 gas pumps during a busy time to do a $40 safety check when people could be buying gas!! Never pulling in there again, anyways it's always a crowded wreck in there. Got 20 prepaid the guy working put it on the wrong pump which had another customer so I had to go ask that customer if he could please move because the clerk refused to put it on the pump I was at. He did not add my has to the pump and tried to blow me off telling me so sorry I don't know... I demanded my $ back or gas he fumbled around pretending like he had already added it to the pump. I went in and told him I'm done playing and wasting my time I just want my $ or gas after several more minutes I was finally allowed to pump the gas I had paid for almost 10 minutes before. Pull up in the first row of pumps next to the cashier (drive in so car is facing Mauka) and wait your turn. If no line then great! Just pop in and let them know you want a safety check. Technician asked for my mileage, registration and insurance and I sat in the car and followed instructions. I paid in the office and he affixed the stickers and took some photos of the car. If you really need gas this place is ok. It's always more expensive than the other stations in the vicinity. I usually put in a gallon or two then fill up at Costco. There's another station by One Archer Lane at corner of Dreier St and King that is usually 20 cents a gallon cheaper. I've gotten a safety here before. The bathroom is always out of service. FYI. They got (4) four drive-ways: all are in and out. (1) one drive-way facing 'Makai', (1) one drive-way facing 'Mauka'. The garage & building structure of this SHELL is on the 'Ewa' side. So mathematician, the (2) two remaining drive-ways are on the 'Diamondhead' side. Seriously?! Did the mechanic dudes just tell a older lady that the pressure gauge for the air is in the pump. Obviously she didn't know what she was doing. So I went to help her to put air in her tire and check her tire pressures... She was thankful and said "baby girl- how do you know how to do this? I told her my dad made me learn to take care of a car before I drove..." Yup putting air in a dress and holding the air tubing with my foot... You mechanics should be ashamed!!! Horrible, went there a year ago for a safety inspection with new tires. Was told I had to remove my tint. I complied and had me safety check completed. This year I was told I needed a new left back tire. These tires were all put on brand new in California in November 2017, the car was shipped a week later. It's been a year of driving 1.5miles to work. I left and went to a different safety inspection location and was passed on my safety inspection. I find it very suspicious that twice I was denied a passing inspection with a luxury vehicle less than three years old. I wish I had listened to my gut a year ago when I was told my tint had to be removed. Don't use unless you're local, Vietnam's decent, or expect a failing safety inspection. read more

I've gone here for safety inspections two times in the past and have had a decent experience. This past time wasn't the case. I was informed that I needed two new tires to pass. The manager told me the other two were fine. Long story short I purchase two new tires and go back. The same person looked at my car. This time around one of the tires he said was fine a few days before was no longer up to standard and I was told I needed a new one. This place is really convenient for me on the way home from a night out in the Ward area. I like taking Ward Avenue because it's easier to get home a lot of the time compared to taking Piikoi Street. I live in Makiki and it's always either Ward Avenue or Piikoi Street to get home. I have only been here for gas and it's really simple. Just pull up to an open pump, insert credit or debit card, put in zip code, and then you're set. I like how you can still get gas after 10 pm. If I do end up taking Piikoi Street home, my gas station of choice is Chevron! I will definitely be stopping by at Shell Gas station more as needed. Yay gas. read more

This place was awesome! I had a nail in my tire, so I came here to get it plug. As I rolled in, the parking lot was super crowded. A worker was nice enough to guide me in. The charge was only 20 dollars. They even gave me a courtesy check on all my other tires. After checking, they found that I was missing a air cap and provided me one without any cost. That was so kind so I offer to give them $10 tip but they wouldn't take it. It only took me like 10 mins to get everything done! Fast service! I'm coming here again for my tire problems. read more

I would avoid this place at all cost, let me tell you why. On 7 Jan. 2018 my wife's cousin filled up his car at this station and his car started, but wouldn't stay running so he called me. I arrived about 20 minutes later and the station owner's son was a total ass saying we needed to get the car out of there immediately. We told him it would only take about an hour to get the car running (part picked up and installed) The owner asked for us to move car away from pump which we did. Came here for the first time to get a safety check. Came on a Friday at 1:30pm without an appointment. I was lucky that they just had one person ahead of me and I just had to wait like one minute and pull up to the gas station closest to the service window. They ask for my registration and insurance. They basically checked front and back lights, signal, reverse, horn, and wheel turning. (Keep in mind I don't have modification in my car.. not even tint) Probably took me 5 mins versus when I went to Firestone it was 30-45mins. Cost me $20. If you ever need gas in this part of town go find another station...this place is horrible. The flow of cars is very confusing. Cars are coming in and out of 3 different entrances people are very inconsiderate of others so as they pull up to the pump they don't care if they block other drivers. It's a very busy station I think due to its location. There is a lot of cars parked not sure if they need to be serviced or picked up. Make sure when you pull up to fill up that your gas tank is on the side of the pump because the nozzle will not and I mean will not reach around your car. The last row closes to the store is used for safety checks also so mind you you have to watch for that too. I am sure they bring in a lot of sales Due to the amount of people i see pulling up but the traffic really sucks. I assume the owner is Vietnamese/Lao or some Asian because he was the only one doing safety checks. I was a bit confused because I didn't see him using the iPad for the safety checks.
