A long tradition to do at the end of the year is get your car washed and here at Don's Makiki Service having a drive thru car wash is so convenient with not many similar services like this in town at such a great price I was aware yet constantly forgetting it's there. There can be a long line here but is very fast and efficient than they other guys down the street where it is a process and is a plus to get it vacuumed but if you just need to get it washed this a great option to do so. The staff here is efficient and friendly and the price you just can't beat, the days of drive thru efficiency is a luxury thing I'm grateful for and here in Makiki it a service that is given with ease to take care of what has taken such great care you me. Overpriced car wash that leaves your vehicle dirty…read more Yesterday afternoon I paid $30 for a drive thru car wash, which is outrageously expensive. Keith seems to be the only guy working here. There's a gal in the convenience store that handles the gas dispensers. She told me that Keith will be right with me. I think Keith took a car around the block for a spin. Then he had to attend to a guy that maybe had a serious problem. When Keith had time, I asked him to check my oil level since the indicator light flashed on. He asked me to move my car closer. I had parked on the other side of the building because the right side was filled with vehicles. Eventually, he got to me, turned on the ignition and saw the indicator light. He popped the hood, whipped out the oil stick and showed me that the level was fine. He said the light could have been triggered by the oil not circulating... or other reasons. Hmmm... Ok... At least I had enough oil! I appreciate his quick diagnosis - especially because I was a walk-in and an unknown...

Lo and behold, this Texaco car wash place popped up. I read a few reviews and I decided to try it out. There was about four cars ahead of me. The reviews warned us about the wait time. There is wait that depends on the type of car wash package you select. I estimated @10-15 minutes per car. I didn't know where to pay and I asked my sister to run into the convenience store to check if I needed to pay first. You can pay inside and you will receive a receipt with a code that you enter into a machine that is located near the entrance of the car wash. Or you can pay at the machine as well. Your choice. Pay attention to the instructions and lighted signs! It will guide you into the automatic car wash with ease. It's pretty loud inside so be prepared! Pricing is really great at $10 for the basic- Deluxe Wash, $14 for the premium wash, $17 for the ultimate wash, and $20 for Ceramic shine. See photo for more information. It's an automatic car wash , so be prepared to wipe down your car with a towel after you exit and find a place to park. The dryer doesn't get every spot. If you want air for your tires, vacuum, or water, it will cost you. Bring your coins. Appeared that some features are broken. Overall, a good experience for my old and now cleaned up car!

Sometimes there's a guy that knows you want to use the car wash but he goes really fast, parks his car right outside the wash, takes his sweet time to walk and talk to the people in the booth. All of this before 6am in the morning. Good morning to all! But then it's my turn. I pay $20, get the ceramic coating etc... etc... and in the end, they fix the problem with the car ripping off my back wiper. They fixed it! Because it didn't wash half of the back of my car. Hey, how come there's no review of this 76 gas station in McCully???…read more Shoots den', I go kokua & drop a review on Yelp to help this business out! Lol! Located just next door from the McDonald's in the McCully neighborhood, you can find this little gas station that not only serves gas, but they also sell propane. Over the years I have patronized this gas station as they used to sell "racing gas", and now I see that they sell "ethanol free" gasoline. Basically this gas station just does fuel, and they have a small area where they sell a few convenience items by the cashier's booth. No car repairs, or safety checks done at this location, but not to worry gang, as the McCully Union Service also has another service site on Beretania Street where they actually do car repairs & safety checks. Of course at the Beretania location where they do car repairs, they don't dispense any gasoline, that's what the McCully location is for on S. King Street (just next door to the McCully McDonald's).

They also sell some items inside by the cashier. What am I doing at a gas station you may ask? Well it was because I ran over a nail and my tire was leaking air. Fortunately it wasn't the sidewall. I called first to see if they worked on Tesla vehicles because you need special pucks to lift the vehicle. They didn't have the pucks but luckily I have a set. I brought them with me in the event they could fix my tire. When I arrived, I told them they needed the pucks to lift the car to not damage the battery and vehicle. The mechanic just looked at the location of the screw and said he could do it without lifting the vehicle. I was so confused because you have to lift the vehicle to take off the rim. Turns out he was able to quickly do it on the ground. They don't patch the tire but plug it here so it all made sense when I saw what they did. The entire process was completed in minutes! They were quick and I was out of there in no time. Personally, a patch or plug doesn't matter too much because it fixes the problem of air leaking out of the tire but patching does take time. It takes at about an hour at shops that offer patching because the rim comes off the vehicle and the tire is removed from the rim (could be longer than an hour if they are busy). I'm not sure which is better long term though as I'm not a tire expert. Since I had my tire patched not too long ago, I found plugging was a tad more pricey. Is it worth it? I think so due to the time it took to do it and the fact they didn't have to take off the rim nor jack up the vehicle. No risk in damaging the rim, vehicle or battery. Good option for a quick plug if you encounter a nail/screw in your tire!
