ANGELS do exist. Today, one appeared in my life, and his name is Sohail. I live quite a distance from Ellicott City, but I work in the area, so I make my gas purchases at this Shell station. Today, just as I was pulling into the station, my low gas warning light came on. No worries, I thought. I will fill up and be on my way....EXCEPT...I did not have my wallet. I did not know what to do. I scrounged around my car and found all of 60 cents, and I took the coins inside and put them on the counter and...embarrassed...asked for 60 cents worth of gas. Pump 2 it was.
I began pumping, and as I neared the 50 cent mark on the pump, I expected the pump to slow and stop. It did not stop. I thought..."Ah, the station is nice enough to give me an entire dollar's worth." But, no! The gasoline kept flowing. So, I knew I someone in the station took pity on me and gave me an entire gallon. NO, again! The gasoline continued to flow! I knew I would have to go inside to let them know I would be back to reimburse them for their immediate kindness. But, to my surprise, the angel Sohail appeared at my car and said, "Behold, I bring you tidings of great joy. You may help yourself to $10 worth of petrol." (Actually, he really said he was giving me $10 worth of gas, but I heard it the other way.) I assured this angel that I would return to pay for the gasoline, but he would not have it. I accepted $5 of gas and shook his hand. As any true angel would do, he insisted that I not repay his goodwill gesture. He wanted nothing but to be the angel that he is.
I called the station prior to writing this review to inquire of the angel's name, and when he found out who was calling, he reiterated that he wished I had accepted the entire $10 gift of gasoline. Sohail's kindness to me was worth far greater than the value of the gas. Sohail got me safely home.
Thank you Sohail! What a wonderful community member you are. What a wonderful angel, too! I will never forget this. read more
