I consulted a podiatrist, and X-rays revealed bone spurs on both my left and right heels (though only the left was symptomatic at the time). My podiatrist explained that there wasn't a definitive cure for bone spurs; instead, the focus was on pain reduction to enable a normal life. She strongly recommended I visit "the best Certified Pedorthist in NYC," Spencer Weisbond (her exact words), for custom-made orthotics. At that point, I was willing to try anything for even a slight reduction in pain, so I promptly scheduled an appointment. My experience at Orthotic Solutions was excellent from the start. Spencer made the molding process easy and comfortable while he explained everything thoroughly and efficiently. A few weeks later, I returned to pick up my custom orthotics. Spencer trimmed them to fit the shoes I brought and provided instructions on their care. My hope was that they would at least ease the pain enough for me to walk short distances around the city. What happened, however, was far more profound. In just a few weeks of always using my custom orthotics, the pain in my left heel had completely disappeared. That was two years ago, and I remain entirely pain-free when using my custom orthotics. Occasionally, if I walk for extended periods without them or go barefoot, I can feel a hint of pain starting to return, reminding me that the bone spurs are still present. But the custom orthotics properly distributes the pressure on my feet, allowing me to walk without pain. He…read moreresolved both my kids' ingrown toenail issues - distal/tip and proximal/base - with minimal pain, talking us through the process to manage expectations and what to look out for should it recur. Numbing injections were used for the proximal correction and nitrogen spray for the distal. It was completed efficiently and cleanly. 2-wk follow-up appointments were scheduled prior to leaving, to ensure healing process is on track (good-to-go). Received a follow-up call 4 weeks later to check to see if the proximal case needed to be revisited (boy, do they know they're timelines!) - which it did. Wishing they took our new insurance as we wanted to go back for surgery to correct the issue for good but since they're now out-of-network, ended up scheduling elsewhere closer to home. We'll see how that goes, but I would definitely go back to them if we could! Only thing challenging about this location is the street parking (meter), if you can find one. He truly understands the runners mentality and does a super job explaining what your issue is, and how he can help it. In my case, he was able to recommend 4 different pairs of running shoes, and along with an orthopedic, I was up and running pain free in no time. To summarize, he saw my injury, diagnosed the cause. Advised me on the timeline it will take to heal, and then worked on trying to find a solution.
