i had earlier wrote a review about his company and i had very pleasent experience until we reached at the time of executing our order, and all this time i was dealing with Nancy and she was extremely nice but when the time came for the actual work to be done and i had some questions about few things on charges and Nancy that time did not speak or called me back which was very unprofessional and put me on to Mike and he mentioned to me that he was one of the owner and we solved the issue and he was also not very polite and was only insisting me to listen to him only not me, and then their painting crew arrived and it was originally a scope for two days' work but they finished all the work same day it sounds very nice but the kind of the Job they did was totally unacceptable and left so many under areas unpainted and the overall finish of their painting quality was totally UNACCEPTABLE. I would also like to mention honestly that they did give is some discount and to which later they denied to give the same discount, the reason was that we postponed our dates twice and they changed on us one saying there was not enough people to come and do the work(understandable), they later asked us to pay $300 more towards the original discount offered. Overall a very unpleasant experience and if i have to go to them again I would really extremely helpless when i would not find any other painting company to work with which will not be the case. we paid immediately a the end of the work to Miguel without a second's delay and no one called us even once on how the Job went especially when Nancy knew that i did not sound very happy anyway DID NOT LIKE THEIR WORK PRACTICES AND QUALITY OF WORK. So after receiving 4 estimates for the job, and Sheldon and Sons being 2x more than any other estimate, I decided to use them since they "have a great reputation". The job started with the incorrect sheen of paint being delivered, which was quickly remedied by the sole painter scheduled for my job. The painter did an excellent job changing my MBR color and painting the ceiling. Then we got to wallpaper removal... he explained that it was going to be more problematic to remove the paper than paint over it. Ok. He's a pro, he should know... my estimate was based on removal, wall prep, etc. Letting the painter paint over the paper was OK. It took so much longer to complete this MBR and MBA Job than anybody could have ever anticipated. Not only did the painter have to paint over the paper, but the estimator didn't understand that part of the bathroom had oil pant and to paint over that was much more involved. Needless to say the job went on for almost 6 weeks. First week 3.5 days of work. Then 3 weeks of crickets, then I get the owner Scott out and he agrees that my concerns were valid )I'm, yeah, it's in the contract), then after another week I had to call to see when my painter was going to return. Needless to say, after 5+ weeks the job was completed- more or less. Paint was left on mirrors, a few small spots were missed, and after only 3 months. There are areas where the dark, oil is showing through the white trim. For the price, I expected so much more and better. Dissatisfied is an understatement. read more

When I hire a contractor it's because I want things done and don't want the hassle of doing it myself or having to chase down "independent" professionals to finish the job. Sheldon and Sons made every effort to make it as hassle free as possible. Steve and Dalton showed up on time, worked around my nosy dog and kept me abreast of the work progress. When they realized that the paint wasn't covering as expected they worked with Sherwin-Williams and their management to repaint the whole room at no extra charge to me. I didn't even have to complain about it. That's the definition of professionalism and hassle-free work to the customer. I was very impressed when Sheldon & Sons repaired and painted the exterior of my 38 yr old house 2 years ago and so I decided to contract them this winter to repair and paint my vaulted front hallway and second floor hall. The 3-man crew removed the old wallpaper, repaired cracked drywall seams and dings, installed proper molding missing around a skylight and painted the ceiling, walls and trim all in one day. Whenever I schedule painting, I call Sheldon & Sons. The team is friendly and knowledgable and the owner is focused on customer service. I know this because I had a small issue with some shelves that weren't painted (in a closet) and when I called to ask if the team could come back, they were back the same day! Not only that, but they went through the entire house with me to make sure they had done everything I needed. The house was left clean and when I was showing the renovation to a friend, she remarked on how great the ceiling line and baseboards were. No paint got on the hardwood, and everything looked gorgeous. Oh, and they helped me choose the right type of paint for the different areas we were painting. Love these guys! read more

The experience I had with this company will go down in history as one of the most offensive I have ever had. I called and made an appointment to get an estimate to paint three bathrooms in my house. After confirming all of my information with the office manager, including where I lived, we scheduled for the estimator to come out on a Wednesday. They called a few hours before the appointment and said they would not be able to make the appointment and that they would be there on Thursday. No problem. Then Thursday come around. Thursday afternoon, just hours from the appointment, that they rescheduled, they call my husband and after beating around the bush tell us that they do not feel safe going into certain parts of the city, and because they are a higher end company people in my area cannot afford their services. Simply, the estimator assumed I am poor, and live in a third world country. I live in a beautiful house which has been featured in the Baltimore Sun in their My Dream Home section. My area host one of the largest synagogues in Baltimore, and they basically insulted not just me, but everyone in my area. The fact that this company is sending someone like that into peoples homes is disgraceful. I personally make over 6 figures a year. For someone to assume that I cannot afford their services speaks volumes about this person and the company for whom they work. TL;DR I would not recommend this company at all. read more

The rooms look beautiful! I will be calling them next year to do other work on the exterior and the interior. Sheldon and Sons did an amazing job on my kitchen. I chose to not only paint the kitchen walls but paint the original kitchen cabinets instead of getting brand new cabinets, and I'm glad I did because the way Sheldon and Sons painted my cabinets makes it looks like a brand new kitchen, with only half the cost. The crew was incredibly friendly, professional and on time. I felt very comfortable with them working in my home. Everything was done in a timely manner with both quality and efficiency. We had the entire first and second floors of our house painted, walls, ceilings and doors included. Ultimately the job ended up good, not great but good. When the original estimate was done we were told the job would take 8 days. When they were supposed to begin and had a scheduling conflict they said it would take 3-4 days and in the end took 3 days. We had depended on that 8 day estimate to plan other contractors and their poor estimate cost us time on the real estate market. After the second full day we were told the job was done but that a 2 person crew would come back the next day to address any concerns. We walked around the house and found a lot of issues including paint on stained woodwork, paint on every window frame, areas that weren't given a second coat, and uneven edges at the bottom of the crown molding. They had left trash in multiple rooms and always left our toilet seats up. We immediately called their office because we felt the issues should be seen and addressed under supervision. We spoke to an owner who told us that their best crew would be out for the whole day and that a supervisor would come out to be sure our concerns were addressed and someone in management would come out to collect the balance of payment. We never saw a supervisor and the woodwork is unable to be unpainted. They left an old water bottle, clumps of drywall compound as well as its dust everywhere even after they had "cleaned up." I think they need more supervision by the customer, but I'm not sure how they would handle being babysat enough to not paint your woodwork. read more

Horrible customer service. Appointment was cancelled and reschedualed without letting us know. We drove to the location and they were a no-show. It was due to weather which is 100% understandable but the lack of communication was an issue. I would of been able to move past this if it wasn't for the continued lack of communciation. After the project was complete we noticed paint on our automated shades that are about $200 each. I wrote to them, sent pictures, called left a voicemail, and multiple emails and NO RESPONSE OR PULSE AT THIS COMPANY! read more

Contracted Sheldon & Sons to paint all the exterior wood on my house. The home is brick with plenty of wood soffits, shutters, windows, window trim, porches and railings. They did all the glazing on my old and damaged windows and fixed some damage on my shutters. They showed up on the day they said they would, right on time. Large crew. Finished the job in 4 working days. They suggested a few additional items and even replaced a few broken panes of glass. Very professional. Very clean. Good value. I highly recommend them. read more

Sheldon & Sons were terrific painting the formstone facade of our rowhouse. The quality of the job was really excellent and they were very thorough, painting the formstone, window trim, handrail, coal door, front door and even the downspout. And the cost was spot-on. We're super pleased with the job. We had it done at the end of the exterior painting season, so there was some confusion about scheduling. But a human always answers the phone and the office staff is very patient and friendly. We'll use them for interior work in future! read more

I wrote a review before for this company that actually had 5 stars, but needs lowering a little because of their confusion over the windows. I will state first that basically the painters did a good job. I stated that in my first rating but can't find that one now on this site. Apparently there was much confusion over my windows on their side. Maybe they were mixed up with another customer. I have no idea what happened since they knew from the beginning that the windows had to be done. Since the blind was totally broken and Scott had told me that the crew could take it down, naturally I assumed that that wasn't a problem. Then I had to remind the crew to take blind down. The leader questioned to ask if I really wanted it down. Sheldon and Sons had a lack of communication with this crew. Think about it logically; why would I want to keep a broken blind on a window especially when they had special instructions to take it down? When I had said that I would not be able to take a blind down, Scott said that they would. He said that was not a problem. He wrote in the corner of paper under special instructions to take it down. Did he comunicate this to the crew? The men had to be reminded about this. Later, they weren't even going to paint the wall under the window. ???? !!!! I had them do it right before they left. I was surprised because they were going to leave without finishing the job. Later I saw on form that everything should have two coats. That certainly didn't have two coats since it was done in about three minutes right before they left around 11:00 am. Why wouldn't they paint under a window? It wouldn't have matched the room and would have been unfinished. I can see no reason to think why it would not be painted. I wasn't going to mention any of this, but then there was confusion over the bill that related to the window. At that point, I realized I needed to say something. What was the problem, and why doesn't that area have two coats - if everything was to have two coats? Sorry, but I must amend my rating because they need to remember what the customer has said and communicate this to the crew. Communication is the key they are missing because, other than that, they did do good work. If I had not seen the area below window before they left, they would not have finished job. I really wasn't going to mention this except for the confusion with the way they write the bill up. All costs need to be listed clearly and in the same palace; not scattered around in the corner but listed together. I did not see the little number in the corner and the explanation that I hadn't decided about the windows doesn't make since. The windows were mentioned specifically since I couldn't get the blind down myself. Of course the windows were to be painted from the beginning, and I didn't know what to think when I found out that Scott must have thought that I was considering not doing them. Have no idea where that came from. It is a shame they have such a communication problem because they actually do good work. read more

Used Sheldon and Sons for both exterior and interior painting. The exterior was a big job and was handled perfectly. The interior was another story. The painters failed to paint everything that was agreed upon AND the painters did not clean up after themselves. The management was gracious enough to refund me a little money for the mistake. That being said, I have subsequently discovered even MORE that they did not paint but were supposed to.
