I've had many facial and skin care procedures in my 50 years of adult life-from carbon copy chains…read morewhere the care givers muttered rote sales pitches while giving mediocre care to my face. I've had body wraps which left me feeling like a stuffed burrito and pseudo skin specialists who knew less about my skin than I did. I've been lucky-I inherited naturally moist skin and most of my youth and young adult life all I had to do was slap on a moisturizer and a little blush and head out. When menopause hit, my skin changed and my former dewy skin became dry as the sand around Bend!. I've come to expect minimal service when redeeming Social Living/Groupon vouchers because many of the service suppliers make little to no money off them. Anne Chen, owner of Skinology, sees these vouchers as a way to educate women and men about their bodies largest organ...the skin. I purchased 2 vouchers, one for me and one as a gift for my daughter..the last facial I had was at a beauty college where clients were serviced as though they were in the Ford Production Line. I thought we'd go in together then go to lunch in Lake O, However Anne is a sole practitioner and only takes one client at a time. I scheduled on line, then turned up ill the day of my appointment called and cancelled -thinking I'd just thrown $40 down the drain. Daughter went, loved the work she had done and said Anne would accept my voucher past the expiration date if I scheduled right away-so I did. I wasn't particularly fussy about skin care products-drug store and on sale is what sold me. I requested an Anti-Aging facial and added on a pore cleaning and eye firming treatments. It was over an hour of lovely scents, cool calming lotions and potions and a real education about the contents of my 'Ponds' cold cream (what my mother used), Oil of Olay moisturizer (ditto) and Avon eye serum and ditto). I felt wonderful after the treatment, my face looked great and I ended up buying several of Annes products, which are all natural, no filers or chemical preservatives added and very reasonably priced. A trial sized sample of her Repechage Opti-Firming Serum comes with the treatment. Though $55.00 for the regular sized jar isn't the most expensive I've seen for eye serum, it can be a bit steep. But worth it! The sample sized jar can last a month, says Anne, with care. She treated my aged skin much differently than she treated my daughters 40 year old skin..that makes sense - compared to the production line facial I'd last had, where we both got the exact same thing and neither of us were particularly happy about it. My daughter said my face looked better than ever-a nice compliment for a 72 year old to hear, even if it is from her daughter!. I'm considering scheduling Annes special 6 treatment sale which ends up costing about $50.00 a treatment. Thats a never heard before price, IMO, for facials and most affordable for monthly of bi-monthly skin care! When I think about what I pay for a hair cut and color weave it's really reasonable! Anne has a mens special treatment-so you June Grooms can go in and get more handsome for your Bride-trust me, she's at a some spa doing the same for you!. I highly recommend Annes knowledgeable service, the care that she gives each client and her quality natural products which contain things like Blueberry extract, Jojoba oil and calendula. Reading the labels is like reading one of my Kitchen Facial Herb Books. Traditional herbs that have been used in women's skin care for hundreds of years appear in a non irritating base. No mystery alphabet soup chemicals anywhere. Frequent vouchers available!...or call her and see what specials she's offering. An easy location to find behind the Lake O Safeway in a cute olde style complex, it's calmly decorated in dove grey and teal/turquoise..my favorite colors. I'll be going back next month for summer skin care

I have been seen for six or so months. Tremendous results. There is no hocus pocus. No hyped promises. The most meaningful difference between Rachel and the MDs I've been seen by in the past, is the sincerity, encouragement to stick with the program and not bow out before sustained results are locked in. I'm guessing I'm more impatient and neurotic than most. Rachel and crew are empathetic, yet when needed, give it to me straight. What I'm sayin is... you will not get steered in the wrong direction when treated here. You will get competence, kindness and encouragement. What else do you need? You'll get realistic management of your expectations. No nonsense. No smoke and mirrors. Bottom line? Get seen. Follow instructions. Wow...I am blown away... I have been trying places out for facials looking for a permanent one…read more Each time I have found myself disappointed where they use ok products or you feel like you should have just even spend the $30-40 on a new fancy mask and done it to yourself at home. A facial is about maintenance and also improving your skin so, on one hand I do not necessarily want to hear about my face the entire time - relaxing for a bit is also nice...I would like to hear you care about my skin, what I should be doing here and there and your recommendations. I went in and did not have to wait at all - she had a long card for me to complete which was way more detailed than I ave even filled out and she actually read it! She also had tons to say about my face and maintenance recommendations and such right away and throughout and she would see things. She also asked questions getting to know me and my face. Her space also is a very nice balance between clean and professional with lovely touches of cute hooks and shelves for you to place your belongings. She used wonderful products on me, took her time and gave me one of the best facials I have ever had. She not only did extractions but REALLY did them and was very conscious about making sure I was ok the whole time - I am used to it and am fine but some folks are a lot more sensitive so her checking in is most welcome. She also has a ton of little touches which add up to he just caring - the bed had a massager pad so having that hit pressure points while laying there was so nice along with the aromatherapy pillows and paraffin dip for your hands. She gave me a lovely hand, arm and facial massage as well which was such a nice way to end the facial. I really did feel so relaxed and calm afterwords and my skin was glowing! Her facials at regular price are well worth it and I plan to make her my go to person. She offers many treatments also for correcting your skin and waxing as well but I highly recommend even just going to her for a European facial

She had me in good hands (literally) and I never broke out, not even once. I told her I needed a new skincare routine for my now 30-something skin, and she hooked it up with everything I needed.
