Recommended by Kevin of TeamTaylorNJ (basically Taylor Ham's version of Portnoy's pizza reviews) this month was Scheimers Deli & Catering's Taylor Ham, Egg, and Cheese sandwich, located on Rt. 10 West in Denville. An impressive score of 9.3 was enough to put it on my radar. Cute little eatery. Very clean and airy inside, with a cool retro decor ambiance and vibe. They also have several outdoor tables if dining al fresco is your preference. It was mine today. The sandwich was very good as reviewed. Plenty of taylor ham, eggs, and oozing cheese. Shake Hands with Sheimer's, the little mom and pop shop where big Sandwich dreams are made, Lol!! Seriously though this place has always been a solid stop whenever I've been in the area and hasn't ever let me down.    My latest visit scored me a Jersey Classic Sloppy Joe Sandwich with Roast Beef, Turkey, Swiss, Coleslaw, and Russian Dressing all piled high on Rye Bread which totally made my day and kept me going all throughout it. Stopped in here for breakfast a few months ago. They weren't even on Yelp at the time. I had mixed feelings about the place. I went with a breakfast sandwich which was good, however, it was on the small side and more expensive than the average place in the area. I also wasn't crazy about the ordering system where you had to go to a machine to enter what you want, rather than speaking with someone. Felt like being at Quick Chek. I got the Sheimers and he got the Italian sub. Both were solid. You get a side with your sandwich, we picked onion rings, which ended up being huge full sides. Rings and special sauce were also solid, nice and crispy. Next time we would split a sandwich and side of rings, both are pretty big! The only points off are for the overwhelming grease smell inside (our clothes wreak even after we left) and the bathroom which had a window that was open to a porch where people could see in with no way to shut the shade. Great service, very fast, and fabulous bang for your buck! I live in town and was eyeing up Sheimer's for years, the problem is they are closed on Sunday's. Finally I got around to coming here and got the Scheimer. I am struggling on a 3 or 4 star rating. The sandwich was good but not great. The bread tasted a day or two old, but still tasted fine. The bacon also taste a day old, but again fine. The four stars really is for the small business aspect. I'll be back to try something else read more

So happy to finally have a decent 21st century deli in my area... first experience in summer was a positive one - 8-10 hot takeout sandwiches, half hour wait and reasonable prices. Friendly staff. Outstanding fried eggplant sandwich with broccoli rabe and mozzarella. Second experience in late November was disappointing. Ate in, ordered eggplant sandwich again and although eggplant itself was outstanding, the bread was disappointing and the mozzarella was not fresh but maybe processed and sliced like cheddar cheese. Ruined the sandwich along with the grocery store balsamic vinaigrette which was nasty. read more

First time going here. A little small on inside but that doesn't matter. A+ for service: young lady was helpful. Fast service. Free side of macaroni. A+ for above average sub roll, not the cheap rolls you find at average pizzerias. Solid fresh sub roll. If you haven't been to Sheimer's Deli, you're truly missing out. My wife and I recently had the chance to stop in and try the meatball parmesan sandwich and cheesesteak sandwich with steak fries. They were absolutely delicious! The bread that they use is delicious and hold the contents of the sandwiches just right. We ran into one of the owners, Mike, while we were there who actually told us to try both sandwiches we ended up having. He also brought us out some a creation of his own, the thanksgiving surprise bites. Holy cow were they delicious. Great Deli!! Prices are fair for sandwiches because sides are included. The girls behind the counter are so sweet and always have a smile on their faces. They have other food besides just sandwiches that are delicious. I've been going to this deli for a while and they always seem to do it right. The deli worker Javier makes the best fresh sandwiches and paninis, and he suggested I use Chipotle Mayo on a panini. He wasn't wrong! I crave their homemade chips all the time! As a last minute decision on what to order for dinner we decided to get sandwiches. I called to ask if they were open and was told they close at 5, that was 7 minutes away. Since Sheimer's is by my house i've gone here for about a year, but with COVID i appreciate them more than ever! They are prompt with their delivery and great for hot sandwiches like paninis or melts. We prefer to get takeout that is reheatable out of an abundance of caution, and their tuna melt was GREAT. Finally stopped into Sheimer's today! Turkey Sloppy Joe - delish and large enough for two people or two meals. Got a few chicken cutlets and eggplant cutlets "for later". Excited we have this new spot in our area. I'm impressed by the ingredients - the bread is fresh, the chicken cutlet is the perfect thickness (which is not too thick), the cheese is great and their fries are crispy steak fries. I was hesitant to try them out as there arent many pictures of their sandwiches on yelp, but am very glad that I did. I had the crispy chicken sandwich and my mom had the shemtov panini. read more

We had an afternoon party yesterday catered by Sheimer's. It was delivered right on time (thank you Juan) and everything was delicious. We had a hoagie platter, an antipasto tray, macaroni salad, coleslaw and fruit bowl and tray if chicken fingers. My guests were very happy. OK lets start. Fellow coworkers and i have frequented this place since they've opened. The food is always good, when it's right, and on time. Service is extremely spotty. I've called in orders at 11:30, for pickup at 12. Show up and it's not ready, until 15 mins of standing around. I've called in at 11:30 for pickup at 12, shown up at 12 and had the owner question me "are you sure you called in?" No i just showed up to stand around of course i called in! Leading up to me standing around for 30 minutes while they cook my order. No apology, no discount or anything. Not to mention a few times they've messed up my order or forgotten part of my order to pickup for a few coworkers. Now onto their delivery service. We figured since they cant get pickup right, maybe delivery? First few times they were spot on, on time or early. Perfect! 2 months ago we ordered, called in at 11:30 as usual for noon delivery (our company has strict company wide lunch from 12-12:30, so being on time is imperative). 12 rolls around, nothing. 12:15, still nothing. 12:30, we call to see what happened, to be told "it left *click*" No apology or explanation. No call "sorry we're running late". At this point we said screw it not going here again because nearly every time someone gets screwed out of something or lunch is severely late and cold. Fast forward to today. Coworkers and I get a wild hair to give Sheimers another try, why not maybe in the 2 months they've improved their delivery service. NOPE! Call in at 11:30, for noon delivery. 6 sandwiches/paninis. No call, nothing, and they show up at 1:00. My hot panini is room temperature and my fries are cold. Your food is good, when it's right and on time, but if you can't get the service side of the business down, what good is it? If we've had this same experience for the 20+ times we've ordered from there, i can't believe we're the only ones having issues. I can't comment on sit down, as i haven't actually gone in and stayed for food, but on their call in for pickup/delivery, we've given them 20+ times to get it right, and 90% of the time it ends up with twiddling thumbs and growling stomachs. read more

Horrible place, DO NOT GO HERE! There are too many other options in the immediate area that provide better service at a better value. Today was the second time I gave this place a chance. EPIC FAIL ONCE AGAIN! This was the second time my breakfast order was completely screwed. Once again, the eggs were under-cooked, the order was wrong, and the prices are incredibly high. You are better off going to the diner down the street than wasting your time and money at this dump. The way they serve customers is disgusting.
