At the Auto and RV plaza, the building has some of the cleanest and best maintained restrooms I've seen in Virginia. Seriously impressive and almost worth a stop just for that. There is also a Burger King and a rare Caribou Coffee. The shop has a bunch of gifts and local memorabilia for sale including tshirts, paintings, vases, local soaps, honey, perfumes and more. Really neat to see all of this stuff. The gas station is a distributor for Exxon products and it was super easy to get back onto the highway. They kept yelling at me to hurry up after being in the store for 3 minutes and there only being about 3 other customers in the store. They then started pointed at me and yelling loudly in another language. I then walked up and purchased a water and a bag of chips they then grabbed me by the arm. I ripped my arm out their arms while I was walking out and asked why I am being treated this way and they said that they just don't want people to stand inside. I then sat on the curb outside waiting for in uber in little more than a t shirt while it was 28 degrees out. They then kicked out multiple people one of which was a spouse of a customer and they claimed was not a customer. I do believe that they did everything within their right but were completely unprofessional and just mean as human beings.

Around the next bend is Shady's. Shady's is a standard convenience store/gas station. It's a little drab on the inside, but the people who work here are pretty awesome and that brightens it up. The a/c functions (I think), the beverage coolers are well stocked with every type of liquid refreshment, there are plenty of snacks, the gas pumps work, and the stray cats outside begging for food are really good at it. The day I stopped in, Shady's air conditioning wasn't working and the employee was sitting outside in the shade; but compared with the inside of my car, I could have been at the north pole. The cold water numbed my frustration, but then so did the friendly employee who apologized for the lack of air conditioning and then spent time commiserating. I don't know though, she only might have been pretending empathy once I started talking about the umbrella drinks in the middle of the highway.

He didn't stop and I stopped as I was walking out to wait for him - then he stopped, I walked past and he immediately started it again thus getting spray on me. There's no need for that.

This Stop In Food Store shares a building with a Burger King in Raphine, VA…read more First I ducked in to use their restroom facilities - if you are in the Burger King and need to use the restrooms - you walk over to the Stop In side. The restrooms were pretty rough - at the very least - the whole thing needed a good cleaning and bleaching. The restrooms could use a complete retrofit - in poor shape. Afterward, I needed a refreshing beverage - so I got a large icy cold Mr. Pibb. I also wanted a salty snack for the road and I was starting to get sick of fast food. I grabbed a pint plastic container of Virginia salted peanuts. I chatted with the woman running the register - she asked me where I was headed. She immediately rattled off that it was 90 miles from Raphine, VA to Interstate 66. Have not verified her info - but she seemed pretty sure of herself! The peanuts and Mr. Pibb hit the spot!
