This doctor was not a good fit for me. SKETCHY BILLING. I went in there for one reason, and he tried to escalate this into a variety of things, making it seem like I did not have a choice but to have those services performed. In the end, I had to ask for him to stop and refuse services, but it was never a point in our verbal conversation of whether or not I consented to have those additional services done until I told him that I was uncomfortable and did not want to proceed at which point the conversation turned around. During the appointment, I was told by him and village medical that there would be no co-pay because the type of visit that was coded is completely covered by my insurance, but now I was surprised to receive a bill... and the doctor was adamant that I get certain things done that day because my insurance would cover it, so imagine my surprise to see that this showed up. When I called village medical, they claimed that I spoke to the doctor about other stuff and they coded that in there.
Here is not the escalation worked: I disclose the medications that I am on and mention that I am slowly going off of one, and all of a sudden he is speaking to be about other medications and giving me a sample. He asks me about any procedures that I have been subject to, I disclose it, and now he is ordering a full bloodwork panel and making it seem mandatory (even though I mentioned that I would be getting a panel in less than a month for an upcoming procedure through another provider). He asked when my last chest X-ray was... man, I don't remember that. And he did not ask me if I wanted these done, he just said "we are getting these done" and I had to push back and say no and ask if those were actually all things that I needed or if I could refuse them. Now, I am sitting here with a bill that looks like it was padded with all of this extra stuff.
Overall, I left this appointment with tears because I felt shamed and taken advantage of. I gave two stars because he did seem thorough, but I felt like he took a simple physical from 0 to 100 way too fast, and I would have preferred to just not have gone to a doctor at all. Additionally, he is moving to part time through Village Medical, so good luck trying to get an appointment.
AND the day after I left the office, I noticed a great amount of tonsil stones and a sore throat. The cherry on top. This review is my perspective and how I perceived the care that I got, and I am happy to elaborate. Obviously, there are two sides to every story and certain fine print things that were probably worked around... but I would suggest any prospective patient to proceed with extreme caution. read more
