    Indoor seating

Our son treated us to dinner here on our visit to Wellington. He always knows where to find the good places. Located at the waterfront boardwalk area in central Wellington, this place offers a more upscale dining experience. Prices are a little bit above average, I would say. We had tried to make reservations online, but we were only able to get a 7:30 PM slot, so we decided to just head over there at 6 PM. Surprisingly, the host immediately found us a table, which told me that the online reservations are not necessarily accurate. The restaurant does not have outdoor seating, but the indoor atmosphere is very classy and pleasant, with a lovely decor, white table cloths and comfortable chair. There are partial view of the waterfront. But, unfortunately a large part of the view is obstructed with what looks like some kind of a metal dock. I would have taken a half a star off for that if I could. I didn't want to take a whole star off though, for the food and the service were superior. Our server, a young Canadian gal, working in New Zealand for 2 years was super friendly and very professional. She had a lot of knowledge and explained in detail the various items on the menu and gave us recommendations. We ordered a couple of appetizers. A variety of breads with burned butter.. very unique and flavorful and a delicious goat cheese salad. My husband and son choose the grilled snapper, which later on I wish I would have also taken. Instead, I had the seafood risotto, which was absolutely scrumptious, but I could have done without the carbs overload.... my fault.. lol The food arrived after about 25 minutes, which tells me it was prepared after it was ordered. Presentation was gorgeous, every dish was hot and delicious. The fish was so tender and flavorful and the risotto was cooked to perfection. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're visiting the area.

The place is in a nice location for both people watching and checking the seaside so make sure you sit next to the windows. It wasn't crowded during lunch so we were able to simply walk in. We thought the oysters were overpriced and didn't think they were that great taste wise. If you really want to taste them then you should try some other place. We loved the snapper and prawns dish. Although originally it should be snapper with octopus but they were out of Octopus.

We ordered "Fish and Chips". Fresh caught local Monk Fish, lightly battered. Very tasty. The Cole slaw was original and also a surprise. Ordered also a very side and today's offering was broccoli. It came not overcooked, but tender. A butter lemon sauce was poured over making it very delightful addition to the fish. Overall a very nice lunch!

Visited Wellington from Portland, OR. We love our seafood and Shed 5 was great! Tuna and smoked salmon bruschetta were delicious. Loved the scallops as well. Tye provided wonderful service and paired our meal perfectly with a Dog Point Sauvignon Blanc. Highly recommend Shed 5 for upscale seafood in Wellington.

The bartender knew off the top of his head how to make a side car. My drink of choice on a sad day. Incidentally, the calamari popcorn was absolutley amazing. Good on y'all.

The Shed 5 Restaurant and Bar is located on the Quay in Wellington with a great view of the bay and all of the people walking by. It's upscale with starched table cloths and napkins and priced as such. The food was very good but our server, Elana, an extremely friendly transplant from Italy made our experience much more enjoyable. If you can ask for her table you won't be disappointed. One other recommendation would be to try an after dinner drink called a Black Forrest dessert cocktail. If you like chocolate you will absolutely love this drink!

We were there on a gorgeous day with 40km views. On to the food. Your your normal breaky all day menu with Benedict's, bacon, beans and burgers. We had the Montreal with smoked salmon and it was brilliant. Oozing bright yellow yolk shows the chook lived on a farm not a cage. Spouse loved the bread crumbed fish as a nice change from the normal beer batter. So easy food, fun aviation location and a nice break before your flight.

This child friendly venue is a common choice for families looking for a brunch location close to the beach. The menu is diverse enough, ranging from egg dishes to burgers and salads. Having beer and cider on tap is very appreciated on a hot summer day. The outdoor seating should be avoided on a windy day, mostly because sand should not be the main ingredient in any dish... The coffee was much better than I expected and came quicker than the beer. The desert selection was quite generous, too, and it helped wrap up a great outing. The only real complaint has nothing to do with the venue itself: it takes a while to be seated because of the popularity of this stylish Wellington Cafe.

This place has a bistro and restaurant that seems to be incredibly popular. It's $$$$ prices (3 course menu - $94.00, 5 course menu - $125.00 and 7 course degustation - $155.00 NZD). High end stuff indeed. There's a secret garden (behind the Cellar Door). Would look into this if you're planning to eat here. For the wine tastings, there's three options: classic ($10.00 NZD/person), indulge ($15.00 NZD/person) and ultimate ($20.00 NZD/person). The more expensive options let you sample from the limited release wines. We stuck with the classic which let us try three. The pours are on the smaller side. Service was excellent. We had a French server who really knew his stuff and you could tell he was passionate about his trade. - Gewürztraminer - this one was good, well balanced. - Grüner veltliner - we weren't sure what to expect from this one. It was a bit more savoury. - Pinot gris - first pinot gris we've seen that's been pink in colour. It wasn't too sweet. A bottle of this would have been nice but pricey at $40.00 NZD. Good quality but it comes at a high price point. If you've got moola to burn, come here.

I was beyond mortified when my sister and I walked in wearing just our biking clothes having just finished a day of biking around to the various vineyards. However, the staff was more than welcoming making no comments towards how we may have been dressed. We were seated outside next to the fountain, a trellis path and a perfect view of the sunset. I couldn't get over the view, breath taking. This is the kind of romantic place you take a girl. Boys, take note. We ordered the aged beef from the special menu and the rack of lamb, pairing our dishes with their 2009 cabernet. Absolutely delicious meal, we savored every bite! I know tiping isn't customary in NZ, but the service, food, and atmosphere were fantastic, I couldn't leave without leaving them something to show my appreciation and satisfaction. I highly recommend coming here!
