Just a quick light dinner in the bar. Very slow on a Sunday eve. Great throwback 80's musac through the the restaurant. Great location. We order the saluted prawns to share with goat cheese and some pasta. It was good but small portion which was completely fine with us. Luke warm recommendation.

My Angus Rib Eye Steak costing $36 per plate..

The Dockside Restaurant was a restaurant that my wife and I had looking forward to dining in for quite a while, as we had always enjoyed dining here in the past. But last Saturday night's dinner there was very disappointing to say the least. We were completely underwhelmed by the quality of the meals and dishes we ordered on the night. Also their covered chairs were quite unsteady. If you weren't careful, you could quite easily fall off. Its about time they replaced them!! For starters, we had both ordered the Seafood Chowder at $16 a head. What we received was small pieces of fish and mussel in a very thin soup base. It was the poorest Seafood Chowder I had in a restaurant for many a years. Not creamy at all!! For mains, we again had both ordered the Angus Rib Eye Steak at $36 per plate. This was a little better, tasted quite enjoyable but its presentation was very poor with a few small pieces of broccoli florets decorating the side of the plate, and a white tasty mayonnaise like sauce surrounding our steaks. We had also ordered two vegetable sides to complement our mains. This was a small bowl of tasty yams, and a bowl of French Fries, both at $8.50 each. Our account came to a total of $120 . The service was okay with our waitress being quite attentive. Though our water glasses was only filled twice during our whole evening there, once when we arrived, and once when we were finishing our mains. Nothing in between. Summarising, the Dockside Restaurant food standards for what we paid, had certainly slipped in recent years. It used to be one of Wellington's top dineout restaurants, but for me certainly not now.

Calamari and soft shell crab appetizer...quite small for the $23 price. Those are lychee, not scallops, BTW.

Food and service were okay but I must say that the food portions were rather startling at times for the prices they charge. For example, $23 NZ for a calamari and soft shell crab appetizers which consisted of three pieces of calamari and three 1/2 little piece of crab. With three of us dining, we each got one calamari and half of a small crab. $16 NZ for a coconut cake which turned out to be a long straight, thin sliver of a cake. Our jaws dropped in surprise. Really? If I could give it 2.5 stars, I would but I'll round up since the ambience of the place was very nice.

Best oysters I've had in my life. Excellent meal overall. Steak was delicious. The dishes are definitely elevated and well balanced.

We were there on a gorgeous day with 40km views. On to the food. Your your normal breaky all day menu with Benedict's, bacon, beans and burgers. We had the Montreal with smoked salmon and it was brilliant. Oozing bright yellow yolk shows the chook lived on a farm not a cage. Spouse loved the bread crumbed fish as a nice change from the normal beer batter. So easy food, fun aviation location and a nice break before your flight.

This child friendly venue is a common choice for families looking for a brunch location close to the beach. The menu is diverse enough, ranging from egg dishes to burgers and salads. Having beer and cider on tap is very appreciated on a hot summer day. The outdoor seating should be avoided on a windy day, mostly because sand should not be the main ingredient in any dish... The coffee was much better than I expected and came quicker than the beer. The desert selection was quite generous, too, and it helped wrap up a great outing. The only real complaint has nothing to do with the venue itself: it takes a while to be seated because of the popularity of this stylish Wellington Cafe.

This place has a bistro and restaurant that seems to be incredibly popular. It's $$$$ prices (3 course menu - $94.00, 5 course menu - $125.00 and 7 course degustation - $155.00 NZD). High end stuff indeed. There's a secret garden (behind the Cellar Door). Would look into this if you're planning to eat here. For the wine tastings, there's three options: classic ($10.00 NZD/person), indulge ($15.00 NZD/person) and ultimate ($20.00 NZD/person). The more expensive options let you sample from the limited release wines. We stuck with the classic which let us try three. The pours are on the smaller side. Service was excellent. We had a French server who really knew his stuff and you could tell he was passionate about his trade. - Gewürztraminer - this one was good, well balanced. - Grüner veltliner - we weren't sure what to expect from this one. It was a bit more savoury. - Pinot gris - first pinot gris we've seen that's been pink in colour. It wasn't too sweet. A bottle of this would have been nice but pricey at $40.00 NZD. Good quality but it comes at a high price point. If you've got moola to burn, come here.

I was beyond mortified when my sister and I walked in wearing just our biking clothes having just finished a day of biking around to the various vineyards. However, the staff was more than welcoming making no comments towards how we may have been dressed. We were seated outside next to the fountain, a trellis path and a perfect view of the sunset. I couldn't get over the view, breath taking. This is the kind of romantic place you take a girl. Boys, take note. We ordered the aged beef from the special menu and the rack of lamb, pairing our dishes with their 2009 cabernet. Absolutely delicious meal, we savored every bite! I know tiping isn't customary in NZ, but the service, food, and atmosphere were fantastic, I couldn't leave without leaving them something to show my appreciation and satisfaction. I highly recommend coming here!
