She was recommended to me by a friend and still today, I wouldn't even think to go to anyone else! I can count on Mariola to work her wizardry every time I come in for a cut. I remember her telling me one day, that each time she cuts my hair, it might be just a tad bit different. She looks at my face, the current length. She asks questions, even today...were the bangs too long last time? Do want this part shorter, etc? She takes to a haircut, the way an artist might take to a canvas and she enjoys the process. It may take a little longer to finish, but she's a perfectionist and I'm totally okay with that. The finished look is always bright and refreshing. She is up with trends, and yet knows all the classic styles as well. Being an artist myself, I let her do whatever she wants with my hair. She truly loves to create something great and she does, every time! My friends and family are still commenting on my cute haircut. I happily tell them, Mariola is still doing my hair! She's even able to work with gobs of white strands, making it look cool to be older and not coloring my hair. We joke about that...maybe someday I will. Also, Mariola is just a sweet, wonderful person. We chat about anything and everything and I always learn something from her. Thanks Mariola, for 21 years of great hair!!! If you're searching for your own refreshing new look, set-up an appt with Mariola!

The girl who did my color just didn't do what I wanted. And I could hear her dismay when she pulled out my foils in the sink. I was left uncomfortably in the sink for about 30 minutes while she tried to discreetly consult with the owner about how to remedy the situation. The issue was I wanted to be blonde! I was there for a color correction. But instead of tipping out my ends, she just did regular highlights, leaving out the ends instead of foiling the whole length of the strands. The stylist seemed rushed because she hadn't allowed herself sufficient time for my appointment so at the end, my hair cut was rushed and not what I wanted. I did come in for a 10- minute appointment prior to my actual appointment for the stylist to meet me and find out what I wanted to do and honestly I should've known then it wasn't going to go well...she basically said there wouldn't be enough time for her to make me blonde in one appointment but that she would try? She would do her best...yikes...I made the appointment anyway hoping...but her lack of confidence in "having time" doing something that's pretty routine in most salons, should have been a red flag. Fast forward...I went to a different salon in Los Altos a couple months later and they did EXACTLY what I wanted. In a single appointment. No qualms. No issues. Did it take 6 hours? Yes. But the stylist had allotted the time, knowing it would be a long appointment. The problem at Therapy was the stylist essentially left me still looking brunette but with highlights. And that wasn't what I wanted. I still paid and gave a 15-20% tip and smiled and thanked them. Because I didn't look awful. I just didn't get the service I paid for. I tried to like my hair. But in the end I was disappointed. I thought I was going to have a flawless experience because it is an Aveda concept salon. Unfortunately that wasn't the case.

Any time I go elsewhere, like for travel, my hair suffers from harsh treatment or harsh product. Overall, Sarah's attention to detail and fantastic customer care has me coming back - year after year. Recently, her assistant, Kat, has been doing my blowouts. She's fantastic! Between her friendly nature, thorough processes, and attention to detail, I've come to enjoy my time under her care as well.

I would not recommend Mathew Gary. I have 3 main complaints…read more First, the end result was abysmal. The hair cut I asked for was a really simple short bob. Yet he was not even able to cut the edge in a straight line. Please see attached photo. As you can see, it is very choppy and uneven. At the end, I had to point out that he missed cutting strands of hairs which had a 2 inch difference. Second, he was very rough. I've never had a hair cut that felt so uncomfortable! It felt like he was raking the comb through my hair. He pressed the back of the scissors blade against my neck roughly. Also, he would push my head around. A couple times he put his fingers on my face, not my scalp, to push my head around. Third, he did not secure the hair cut cape. It was very loose so the hair would fall down the back of my shirt. At the end of the hair cut he took off the cape and then reached down the back of my shirt to scoop hair out with his hand!! I felt very uncomfortable because of this action. By the way, I want to mention his gender does not matter here. I would equally feel uncomfortable if a woman put her hand down my shirt. It was only a couple inches but I really felt like this was not necessary at all! He then blow dried under my shirt. Why did he blow hair down my shirt?! I had to untuck my shirt out of my dress later to get rid of hair on my back. I paid 50 dollars for this hair cut and left a 5 dollar tip because of this horrible experience. I will not come back and get my hair fixed at a different salon. The only good thing I can say is that he was nice. But I didn't pay for that; I payed for a decent hair cut which I did not receive. I left feeling really miserable.

I know how thin & stubborn my hair can be & am almost certain no stylist can ever blow dry any curls in my hair without tools...but I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and made an appointment anyway because it was a last minute decision. I walked in a bit early so another stylist took a stab at my hair (and spent about 10-15 minutes working on it) before my assigned stylist took over - after about 10-15 minutes, she asked me if it's OK to use a curling iron...of course I said "yes" knowing it was gonna end up that way...her manager also approved using it without charging me extra because she also saw how much trouble both stylists had with my hair... I'm glad I at least gave them a try so I know they can't meet the needs of my hair (without paying extra for curling iron)!

I mentioned I had to leave by 10am and didn't want to have my service rushed. At 9:07am my stylist comes out from behind a curtain in the back and proceeds to wash my hair. The wash wasn't thorough, there was no scalp massage or anything, it was just a quick, superficial (top layer of hair) wash with extra-long nails that felt so weird on my scalp (the extra long nails). I feel like I will need to wash my hair again very soon so that my scalp is actually clean (which defeats the purpose of a professional blow out that you'd like to last for a few days). Then the blowout itself was a quick 25 minute blowout (I have a lot of hair and long) that looks nice, but doesn't look special or professional. I was glad I brought my own brush because the one that was there looked like it had seen better days. What is the point of going to a salon that specializes in blowouts then? The vibe of all the staff members I saw this morning was unwelcoming, like they were unhappy to work there.
