If I could give more stars, I would. I called Matt (the owner) around 10 am asking if I could make an appointment around lunch time to bring over my set of knives (18 total) and a set of scissors. He said I could stop by at any time, so I told him I'd be there within an hour. Once I showed up we shot the shit for a few minutes and I was on my way. Less than an hour later he let me know that my knives were ready to pick up. Once I came back he walked me through the process of sharpening and how he takes it a couple extra steps further than most...extra sharpening and polishing belts. Overall Matt is extremely polite, responsive, reliable and accommodating with your schedule and I would absolutely recommend him to any of my closest friends and family. read more

He assured me that after he sharpened them they would most likely be sharper than when I first got them. Sure enough, they are now razor sharp! I have two wusthof knives, two really good knives. And I am very picky when I need to choose a knife sharpening service. I'm relatively new to this area, and so far I knew only one knife sharpening service at South Coast shopping mall. This morning I realized that I can't wait any longer and experience frustration because of the dull knives again and again. I have a Shun Santoku kitchen knife and a Wusthof meat cleaver and over the years they have become quite dull. I tried sharpening them myself (after watching numerous YouTube videos) but did not see much improvement. At one point I was finding it difficult to cut a tomato with the Shun; that's when I knew I needed to find some professional who knows what they're doing. I then found Matt on Yelp and decided to give him a try. Matt was a delight to deal with. My Shun is now as sharp as a surgical scalpel, the way I remember when it came out of the box. The Wusthof cleaver is also very sharp, almost feels sharper than out of the box because the cleaver was never that sharp to begin with. The price was was great and Matt was really quick. Matt is very professional and affordable. He knows his trade well. My knives are the sharpest they have been since I purchased them. There was a quick turnaround; I received all 7 knives in less than an hour. In addition, he was able to fix a bent tip on a serrated knife. When I picked them up, he offered to do my two Shun knives for free since he had forgotten to tell me that all Shun knives qualify for free lifetime sharpening (although there is some wait time). I opted to pay him the full amount because I would not have wanted to be without them for a period of time. His honesty was refreshing.
