Shelby D.

I have gone to Gospel several times, and I will start this review by saying she can do color. She did my hair beautiful shades of red and I will not take that away from her. I went recently to get a haircut. My hair was longer, about 3 inches below my shoulders. I asked her to trim the dead ends and that I wanted long layers and face frame. She instead did short layers and cut my side bangs too far over (all the way to my ear! Looks like half a chili bowl haircut). Her website states that women's haircuts start at $45. She charged me $60, that's completely understandable because I did have longer hair. However, when I got home and looked at my bank statement I noticed she did not apply the $15 deposit to the $60. When I texted her and asked about this she said my haircut was $75. I asked her to explain where the extra charges were coming from, that I was comfortable paying $60 for the length of my hair but no more since I did not have damaged hair or hard to work with hair. She refused to disclose the additional 66% price increase from what is stated on her website. This is the second time I've been charged more than I originally anticipated and she is not willing to clarify.

It's been a year since I moved to NC and I have finally found my stylists! Go see Gospel, you won't regret it!

I have only got services to upkeep my Balayage, so I am prepared to pay. I like that they greet you (a front-desk area with things to purchase), offer you a beverage (champagne or beer), hot coffee, tea, juice or water. They have great stylists, and a room in the back for hair washing, drying and just spa-like relaxation. Make your appointment on their website and get ready to be pampered!

At scheduling time, the receptionist was very nice and worked with me to find a time that fits schedules well. I was scheduled with Michaela for a Halo face framing type situation and was greeted very kindly by her and everyone else at the front desk. They offer you water and other beverages there as you arrive. There is also local crafted jewelry in the sitting area to browse. Getting back to hair, Michaela was very personable, funny, nice, and professional. The experience was nice and it feels like you're just chatting with an old friend. Honestly I probably chat too much but the story of my life LOL. They take you back to the hair washing area which is quiet and Serene, ready for relaxation. They also offer you and I mask type essential oil situation where you can pick different scents. After your hair is done washing you get processed and then you go back to your sitting area. It took a little bit to get my hair to the desired look but Michaela and the salon made it very easy to work with and get the results we were hoping for. I appreciate them for being so accommodating and ease of everything. Michaela is a great stylist and I would recommend booking with her anytime! Not only will she make your hair look better but just speaking with her makes your day better too.

He made me feel great from the moment I walked in. He cut it curl by curl, turning it this way and that to make sure it was right from top to bottom and all over. I have *never* had a stylist take that kind of care with this thick mop. Then he cleansed it, making sure I got my hands into it so I could tell exactly what it should feel like. Finally, he taught me how to handle it and apply products, talking me through doing it myself and making sure it was all written down for me. I left completely confident that I could make it look this good at home. And WOW! I had no idea my hair was this curly!!! It looks AMAZING. Gorgeous! And it's not stiff or sticky or anything. I had to run some errands on the way home and I was really bummed because it was windy. I was afraid it would be a mess again before my husband even got to see it. I got back in the car and anxiously peered in the mirror. It was a little tousled, but it wasn't a bit frizzy -- it was adorable! Whew. My family was amazed when I got home. I know it seems expensive, but Scott is SO worth it. Just suck it up and go. He's not one of these guys that does something you can never repeat at home so you have to keep coming back all the time. He makes it so you can handle your hair on your own, just returning a couple of times a year. With my life as an author and speaker traveling all over the place, that's essential. Best of all is that Scott is a super-nice guy. He was fun to talk to and really seemed to enjoy working with my hair -- you know how rare an experience that is for a curly girl at any salon! Scott Musgrave is the best at curly cuts and you will be so glad you put yourself in his hands!

When I called to ask them about it, they refused to refund the money or provide the original service the $350 was charged for. Also the charge is listed as a recurring payment on my bank account so they have access to recharge my card repeatedly and feel they don't have to answer to it. The owner (Zachary H.) was absolutely horrible when asked about working with us to resolve the issue. There is nothing in their policy that states no-refunds or partial credits, in fact, it states they will do everything they can to ensure you leave happy! That's actually crazy. If they wanted to ensure their customers were happy they could simply provide the service that was already canceled a month ago, paid for anyway (against my will), and still refused by the salon. They could have made it right in any way but they simply refused. These people don't care about their customers. Beware!! Go somewhere else and guard your card information!!!!! EDIT: Hi zachary. Just wanted to let you know, your reply on my review very much shows just how much of the run around you gave me. No business in their right minds puts pocketing $350 over the satisfaction of their customers. Tell me why Roots Salon and Wellness in Cary NC chooses to do so? Is arguing with your customers the best way to handle customer service? I was just wondering. Also, you haven't shown ME proof of anything. I want to see proof that I didn't call and cancel the appoitment, because it is simple to pull call logs from my end. Is it from yours? also, I was not provided a copy of this signed document. I would like one. I would like to know the best way to pick that up since we aren't exactly "welcome" at your salon. Next, there is no clause that I am aware of (I don't have a copy because I wasn't provided one) that states if partial credits, deposits towards future appointments or no refunds will be made. Understand that in small claims court, that will be pointed out. You denied me the service after the fact. Not just a refund, but the service itself. Dont forget that point. Another Edit: "We are very understanding and lenient because we know that life happens and things come up" seems very untrue considering the great lengths you're willing to go to to keep my money now. Just saying.... One more edit ... I wanted to point out that the Brazilian blow out was a service sold to me while sitting in your salon chair. It was an UPSELL that was pitched to me while I had a stylist doing my hair. It wasn't something I asked for, it was recommended and promoted by your team as I was getting my original service done. the price of the service was never told to me. I did not sign a separate document regarding the blowout. Only the original document for the highlights. No price was ever shown to me but the website specifically lists "$250-$350" as the price RANGE for the service provided. When I called and asked the salon why I was charged the upper end of this range automatically, they said that the Brazilian blowout is $350 and the other smoothing services are the ones that are $250. That's not what is listed on the webpage. Only the price range. This price was not communicated to me prior to signing up for this service that I had no prior knowledge about and that was "sold" to me while in the salon.

Scissorhands is my family's favorite with my two younger brothers regularly getting haircuts here. Andy is not as friendly as Miss Kim in Morrisville, but we recently had a nice conversation about the Korean language since I just started studying it. The cut was masterful, for sure, and followed the example I showed in a photo saved in my phone. Shampoo was included at no additional cost and I did not have to wait in my latest visit around Friday noon. I used to pay around $30 to $35 for a regular men's cut but the latest service, Andy charged me $40 (not including tips). As for the atmosphere, it's more spacious than their old location (where they shared space with other salons) but it's not as spacious as Hair News. Nonetheless, it's in a good location by High House Road, close to Cici's Pizza, a small Walmart market, and just less than 5 minutes drive away from HMart.

Came in 10 mins before my appointment and got seated right away. The lady who cut my hair was so sweet and precise, and she asked me a bunch of questions about what I wanted. I let her have a lot of freedom, and it looked great in the end! It was a longer appointment than I expected, but she was very detailed. It ended up being $70 which is pretty expensive in my opinion for just a woman's haircut. If you don't mind paying a hefty price, you should come here.
