I used to only come here to get my nails done. I like shellac for my nails and not all places do it. Many salons claims they do shellac for you but it's really only gel. When you ask them again for shellac, they tell you that it's the same thing and different company just calls it differently. Errrr... I never go to those salons that says that. Shellac isn't the same as gel. It's a blend of polish and gel, and I actually find it better for my nails than regular gel is. Carina, also the owner, does my nails for me all the time. She's great with the details and making sure you are completely satisfied with the results. And whenever she does my shellac, it looks great and doesn't chip or peel for 3-4 wks! She does amazing work! Today, I went to Carina to do my hair. She helped me do a dark base with nice pretty highlights throughout. Turned out great! I've lived in Pahrump a little over a year. I was getting my hair cut at Supercuts and Great Clips and was very disappointed in their stylists. The last haircut I got looked like it was cut with a lawnmower. So Shear Image was recommended to me and the stylist did an excellent job. Hmmn.....I am not sure where to start this review. I guess, I will begin with the good. Hannah...she is an excellent manicurist. Great service and high quality work. Now...for the real review. The owner, Corinna, needs to take a very close look at how she treats her customers.....people expect to be treated with good customer service and feel as if they are valued. Corinna displays neither of those qualities. She does not try to be flexible when setting appointment times. I also received a pedicure from Corinna that was mediocre at best. She went though the motions, acting if she was bored. Hannah on the other hand, made sure her customer got more than she expected.... I also think the salon is showing age and does not appear to be very clean. I also noticed tension between the hairdresser that shares the salon and Corinna...this is not the kind of environment I plan to return to. Consider your choices....there are a lot of salons to visit....this should not be one of them. read more

When I was 13 years old I was in need of a good hairstylist because I was going to a special event. It was around the time that I was learning to actually care about my hair, I was becoming a young lady with high standards. I had gone to a few places and hadn't returned because the quality of the job they did for me was simply not good. I stumbled upon a quiet humble yet chic looking salon that intrigued me. I walked in and was greeted with open arms by a women who would become my hairstylist for life who goes by the name carina. The first time I came to shear image I didn't expect such friendly service, I was with my mother and carina offered us water coffee and cheesecake that her husband made. That's when I knew that something awesome was going to happen that day. I needed my eyebrows waxed and a haircut, carina does an amazing job waxing eyebrows. My eyebrows were very messed up from going to previous places, but she completely fixed my ratchet looking brows. The haircut was also very amazing I absolutely loved how she left my bangs they were and are so beautiful . Something.else I want whoever is reading this review to know is that I honestly believe my hair has become healthier and longer by coming to get my hair colored and trimmed by carina. When I turned 16 I colored my virgin hair with a box dye. Why oh why did I do that?! My hair having never been color treated only grabbed the color on the roots. The box dye didn't even turn the color I desired it turned orange. I came to carina the day after I botched my hair and she literally did hair surgery on me. She completely fixed my hair and did an amazing job she made my hair ombré with the roots being a beautiful caramel color. I was more than happy that day ! I'm now 18 years old and I have consistently been coming to carina every 6 months to either get a color or a trim I honestly don't know what I would have done as a teenage girl without carina in my life doing my hair and fixing my hair disasters. If you want to have a good friend as well as a hairstylist come visit shear image get your hair done by carina!!! And of course your nails done by Kenny. I'll start with a couple pros. The first time I went to this salon I got a pedicure by Gia & it was nice, no complaints. I also had Gia thread my eyebrows, no complaints there either. The second time I went in I had the gentleman who sits at the nail station do a French manicure on my real nails with gel polish. He did a very nice job, the end result was exactly what I was hoping for. But one of my nails chipped after only 2 days, and the next day 2 more chipped. Although I was frustrated that my expensive manicure didn't even last a week, I was willing to give this salon another shot. On my 3rd (and will be my final visit) I wanted to get tips put on with acrylic powder. The same gentleman was running late so his sister took a break from her hair client to get me started. She was telling me I should do the silk nails instead of acrylic because it was healthier, looked more natural & is supposed to be more durable than the acrylic. I said okay, but wish I hadn't. The guy who I had the appointment with eventually came in & took over but when his next appointment came in he had his sister take over my nails again. They definitely were overbooked & things felt chaotic. My nails looked gross. They were visibly lumpy, the edges around the cuticle weren't smooth. She was rushing while painting my nails so she could back to the lady getting her hair done. Since she was rushing she kept messing up & would have to paint another layer to cover it up which resulted in rippled paint on 3 of the nails. I don't think these looked natural in any shape or form. They were so bulky & had a terrible shape. And last but not least, one of the nails broke only 8 days after having them done. While I was getting my nails done I overheard them encouraging 2 other customers to do the silk nails instead of acrylic which leads me to think they either don't know how to do acrylic or have ulterior motives for pushing the silk on everyone. Since this is a hair & nail salon I was thinking maybe they tried to avoid doing acrylic due to the strong smell. One of the customers walked out because she only wanted acrylic but they pretty much refused to do anything but silk. So in conclusion... The pedicure & eyebrow threading by Gia was great. But I would never recommend going here for anything else (nail related) ***I can't speak for the hair services. However, I would have been mad if I was the lady getting her hair done that had to keep waiting because the lady was leaving to do my nails**** read more

Four days after my original post of this review I had to return to this salon to have three nails repaired. The dip powder I tried was very weak and allowed my natural nails to snap, which is a bummer. They were very friendly at first saying they would fix and redo all ten nails for free. I really appreciated the because I knew it would take a lot of time. I didn't think it would take an hour just to remove most of the dip powder though. That stuff was everywhere, in my cuticles and under my nails even. The remnants were still very evident when she was "finished". I'm not sure why, but the woman said she could tell I wasn't happy and no longer felt "comfortable" finishing the job. Maybe the way I looked at my nails gave me away, however I said absolutely nothing to her about them. She graciously returned my money but sent me away with awful looking hands. I was then forced to drive around looking for a salon to immediately fix them. It was very inconvenient and so I changed my rating from three stars to one. read more

Looking for a new "home" salon?!?! Look no further! This location is a must! My girlfriend I were looking for a mani appointment on the fly. After booking our appointment we found out that they are typically closed on Mondays. However, they went above and beyond! 2 employees came in and open the store before our appointment. They were both more than happy to accommodate a fill and full gel manicure. In addition to, I also received the most thorough facial wax ever! The time spent and quality of the products was beyond impressive. I'd be more than happy to commute to this location from Cool, CA on the regular. (An hour drive totally worth the quality, technique, product, friendliness and overall thoroughness.) Ask for Corin! She does phenomenal waxing as well as gel nails. Haan does great work on acrylics as well! (per my gf). Note: They actually use shellac gel polish which is awesome! Most salons say it's gel and that it is the same! IT IS NOT! I've gone in and had Carina cut my hair a few times in the last few months. She does an awesome job and her prices are good. I really like the fact that she is very personable and listens to me when I go through the usual description of how I want my hair cut. Scheduling has been easy and she allows enough time so I don't feel like she's in a hurry. My wife has also been going here for the past few months. Carina does her manicure and pedicures. After seeing the reviews on Yelp, I was excited to go somewhere where I thought I could expect reasonable prices and good results. Sadly, this wasn't the case for me. I'm giving two stars because the woman who did my hair was friendly and never rude, but that's all the positives I can give for my experience. I got my roots touched up and a haircut. The haircut was pretty average, nothing to write home about. My roots- my hair in general after leaving there, is another story. She lightened my roots too much and then without mentioning that, decided to try and lighten the rest of my hair. I came away with hair that is now two very different shades of YELLOW, not blonde. There's a very clear line where my roots were and it's quite frankly ugly. It cost me $140 (not including the tip), and I can safely say that I've had a better job done at a student salon for $20. read more

When we arrived, we were immediately greeted by a gentleman at the nail station (which was nice). Karina is AMAZING! She has the hands of an angel! I went from having short frizzy hair to silky smooth long hair. I swear her hands are magic! My hair has never been this long and so healthy. I've always had my hair shoulder length, but now it's down to my back. Since I started coming a year ago, my hair has grown 15in., and thats with getting trims every other month or so. I have very coarse thick hair, and most people don't know how to work it, but karina does. She's very knowledgeable about hair and really knows how to take care of it. I come here for two different services, i get a pedicure by Kenny and my hair cut/colored by Sam. I have followed Sam around for more than 7 years!!! I've been having my toes done by Kenny for about a year now, he's awesome! Always happy, my toes always look great, he's very gentle when i have a sports injury, lol. Sam does amazing work with my hair, color and cut wise. I recently just got my hair cut last Thursday after making a bet i wouldn't cut my hair for a year...i won the bet with the help of Sam not letting me cut my hair when i would get it colored. My hair was a gross mixture of green and red after a bad home dye job, but Kayla did an amazing job of fixing my hair. I was a little bit scared because all the windows are blacked out, but it's very nice inside. It was $65 for a color and style, and well worth it. I've never dyed my red hair and it's been down to my waist for the past couple decades so I've never really had a reason to make regular hair appointments... until I recently wanted to update my look to a lovely a-line. About a month ago, I saw Shear Image had great reviews on yelp, specifically for Carina. I called in the morning to see if I could make an appointment for my lunch hour. They scheduled me with Warren but when I got there he had just left due to a personal emergency (which I totally understand and not at all holding against him). BUT what I think is really awesome is Carina, who was already visibly busy with clients, fit me into her schedule to take care of me (and didn't seem to throw off any of her appointments either). Carina did an AMAZING job, especially in the short amount of time I had (she was respectful of my time constraint so I made it back to work on time, but I didn't feel rushed or like I was a bother either). It was also easy on the budget and conveniently located (at least for me). I may be a little different from most people in that I'm not really a chatter when I'm having a personal service done- I don't get much time to relax with how busy I am and it's nice to just be quiet sometimes. I appreciate that Carina was friendly, polite and professional, while keeping small talk to minimum and focusing rather on my hair- confirming what I wanted and then doing it (I get so many compliments!). I signed up for yelp just to write this positive review because they (and she) truly deserve credit for their welcoming atmosphere and attentive customer service. I just now made a last minute hair appointment to get the back of my A-line cut a little shorter (I'm getting braver and braver) and she was able to fit me in so I could swing by on my way home from work. Even though she was on the verge of closing her shop for the evening, she told me to come on over. Not only did she stay late, but she treated me to a luxurious pedicure with a hot stone foot massage. My journey has taken me on some ups and downs and through it all she has kept me feeling pampered, pretty, and professional...from my platinum pixie to my edgy bob, this girl does hair with heart and always has my back. After making a recent appointment with her, I received news that was forcing me to cancel in order to delay spending the money. She told me not to worry, she would take care of me and just pay her back when I could. She just wanted to make me feel good and help me be interview ready. I have had a few Shellac manis done here, and I am totally hooked. Kenny does an amazing job, not only is the quality of the french tip perfect (I like the white tip to be fairly thin) but the gel lasts for an incredibly long time. Pretty much the only way it comes off, is with your nail growing out. He does a technique that no other nail place has done on my hands, at least non that I have experienced. He does your nails dry..... If that makes sense. It really works, I was skeptical at first, but my nail polish stays on for months at a time. He adds in a nice hand massage with a warm stone at the end too. I'm so glad I live close enough to go hear consistently for my nails.... Also too, I had a problem with my thumb nail, it always had a vertical crack where nail never grew. He finally fixed it, by putting a thin piece of silk to strengthen my nail, and now it grows like a normal nail now. I can't thank him enough for this fix all other nail technicians had just passed over and never bothered to offer help with this problem. read more
