Brooke is amazing. She listens and asks questions until she knows what * you, the customer * really want for your hair style and color. Her staff is delightful. And, I really appreciate the offer of a cup of tea, coffee or other beverage while I'm there. The "TLC" is just what you need during a busy week. My hair always looks great. Thank you, Brooke! read more

I will never get my haircut here. I happened to be in the plaza when my potty training 3 year old needed to "go potty," so I'm we went in hoping they had a restroom. I couldn't believe it when they looked at his little face saying he needed the bathroom and they wouldn't let him use it. As far as I'm concerned, you're bad people. read more

So glad a friend's gift card brought me back to Shear Genius! Dana's color advice and execution have always been outstanding and realistically priced. Recently I opted for a keratin treatment and more contemporary cut, and the results were amazing. The salon is comfortable, immaculate, and conveniently located just off Rt 7. Brooke and the rest of her staff are wonderful, too! read more

Shear Genius is a wonderful local salon. I have been going there for a few years now and can not say enough nice things about the salon or my hairdresser, Tiffany. Tiffany is super friendly, easy to talk to, and most importantly above all always makes my hair look amazing! I go regularly for color, cuts, and have tried a few highlight styles. I love that she listens to what I may want to do and at the same time gives her expert advice! After all we don't always know what might look best. I would recommend her to anyone in a heartbeat. The salon is always clean, the receptionist knows everyone by name, their hours are great, and their products really work. I love the Soma color shampoo, it so makes a difference with my hair. Definitely give Shear Genius and Tiffany a try, you will NOT be disappointed! read more

Shear Genius Salon - Hair Salons Near Me - Norwalk, Connecticut

This review is for my girl Tiffany. She does highlights and color as well as any colorist in the city. Having lived in NYC for years, I was super worried about finding a good salon out in the 'burbs of Connecticut. Shear Genius is great. My cuts and highlights are always perfect. My only negative experience was with a receptionist they had for a long time. She'd mess up my bookings and then if I had a different time in my calendar, she'd blame me! It happened a few times and I know a Type A personality like me does not fuck around with my calendar. She's been let go, so hoping that they replace her with someone more respectful to clients. read more

Wish there was an option for TEN stars. Clover is terrific!.....she is a wonderful combination of kind, sweet, AND extremely talented and professional. She is a great listener and took the time to understand my concerns and what I was expecting for a great haircut. She took her time during the appointment and wanted to make sure that I was happy. The salon in general is so friendly, everyone said Good Morning and the overall feeling from the moment I entered the salon was very welcoming. I LOVE my hair.......she did an awesome job. read more

I just have to say, this product is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I purchased the detox shampoo and conditioner last year. At first, I didn't like the product. Only because I didn't see the difference from other shampoos and conditioners. But let me say, I am impressed! It wasn't until I stopped using the detox that I began to see major hair damage with other products. I recently went back to using my Shear Genius, only washing once since restarting. The difference is not only visibly noticeable, but I can personally feel how healthy and strong my hair feels! I wish I could post a picture to show how much my hair grew the first time I used the product. Love, love, love this company! Thank you Shear Genius! You have a winner with this stuff ma'am! Worth every penny! read more

I have been getting my hair cut a colored here for several years and I am always happy . Brooke is amazing with my color ( I call her an artist because she has so many bowls in front of her for my hi lights, lowlights and base color) but in the end she creates a masterpiece because I always get compliments on how natural it looks ! I have curly hair and she does the Deva styling which is amazing for curly hair . Tiffany,Toni and Clover all have cut mine or my kids hair at one point or another and they are all great !!! Can't recommend this place enough . read more

A simple flyer in the mail brought me to Shear Genius. You are greeted by the ever cheerful receptionist Pam. The atmosphere is relaxed and happy and salon is kept so clean. When I first visited Shear Genius I had medium length hair and one day before I left Brooke asked if I had ever had a pixie cut. What she didn't know is that I had actually had my hair short for most of my life, an occasional year here and there with a ponytail. Brooke has an eye for what looks good on you and that sparked my own decision to cut all my hair off. Short hair if it is not cut properly for a women's face can be difficult to pull off. Such detail and care is taken when cutting my hair that not only can replicate how she does the finished look but I also continue to get compliments on how good my hair looks. People notice the quality of the cut and detail that every hair lays perfectly for my pixie cut. Thanks Brooke for bringing my sassy back! read more

I discovered this place as few months after moving here from the UK and I love it! I have very straight hair that shows every scissor mark and Brooke, the owner, knows how to cut and colour it exactly as I want it. I live in Wilton and this place is right on the border with Norwalk. Initially I tried one of the more expensive place in Wilton and spent almost $350 on a cut and colour which I hated. Was so relieved to find this place as it's comparatively inexpensive, unpretentious and with such friendly staff. My son also had his hair cut here as he'd had a $26 disaster at the local kid's cutting place. Tiffany listened to him and cut his hair beautifully - for $6 less. Save yourself some money and have an altoegther far more pleasurable experience by checking this place out. read more

I made an appointment for a shampoo and blowdry with Tiffany. She did an amazing job with my hair. She was a great conversationalist, really friendly and engaging and very professional. She is definitely a very talented hair stylist. The salon was clean. All the staff were kind and welcoming. I highly recommend this salon. read more

I love Shear Genius! Tiffany has helped created a new style that I love that's easy for me to do myself (that's so often not the case!) and the color she's given me is beautiful! Shear Genius is a relaxed, happy atmosphere where I always feel welcomed and appreciated. In these crazy, rushed times where everything is moving so fast, Shear Genius offers a wonderful chance to relax, enjoy a delicious cappuccino, and leave feeling restored and beautified. Definitely check it out the next time you need any hair services. read more

For the past three years,Tiffany has been cutting and coloring my hair. She is amazing! Tiffany knows the right hairstyles that compliment me and she always gives the best advice and suggestions. Paired with her talent for style, Tiffany has an eye for color. All of these attributes have made it easy for me to instill my trust in her work. To add to a wonderful experience, Tiffany has a terrific sense of humor; we always manages to laugh. She is a professional in every sense of the word. read more

After moving to the area and reading the reviews, I decided to try Shear Genius. I went to Toni 2 or 3 times and loved every cut, she then left the salon. I'm not super picky when it comes to my hair so I just booked my next cut with who ever was available. Tiffany butchered my hair. Not sure if it was just an off day for her but this was my worst cut in 30 years. I asked for a collarbone length bob (about 3 inches off my hair). No layers, no angles just 1 length all around. The front ended up being about an inch longer than the back AND the bottom layers of my hair was also shorter than the top layers. It was terrible. I wanted to like this place, but I will be going to another salon going forward. read more

I was here a couple of weeks ago for the first time. I was greeted by a friendly girl she offered me a cappuccino, it was great. The woman who did my hair did a fantastic job, I loved it. The only thing I wasn't happy about was being harassed by the receptionist the entire time I was there. She told me about a makeup line and jewelry that she sells, she even said if I pay cash she can make me a deal since the owner oversells the jewelry. It seemed very sketchy to me. She even invited me to a makeup showcase she was hosting. Later that day I went to the Coffee Barn and told my girlfriends about my experience, surprisingly they've had the same results but the woman is elderly so they just bare it since the stylist are great at what they do. So I'm just warning the rest of you out there. If you can deal with being pushed to by things you don't want (remember cash only) this is the place for you!!! read more

Let me preface this by saying that my haircut was great and Tiffany was wonderful. However, there is a serious lack of communication within the salon. I called on a Monday and made an appointment for the Friday of that week. They asked me on the phone if I had ever been to the salon before, which I responded "no." On Wednesday I received a call confirming my appointment. Walk in to the salon on Friday and everything was great, warm welcome, immaculately clean, and friendly staff- basically everything you want in a salon. Cut to payment time... The receptionist says to me "I'm not sure if anyone told you that we charge extra for long hair because it takes longer to blow dry." At no point was this mentioned to me prior to this (not on either phone call I had nor had they asked me what type of hair I had etc.) When I came in sure, long hair, when I left I was down about 6 inches so I asked the receptionist what were the parameters for "long hair." Her response was that when I came in my hair was long and that because of this it takes longer to dry and style, therefore they would have scheduled me a longer appointment so that I would have had the stylist's undivided attention (she had another client who was sitting with color on her hair, at no point did I feel like I did not have her undivided attention, she stepped away for maybe one minute to check on the other person) and I was in and out in under an hour and that was with me being taken back a few minutes after my scheduled appointment. Paying the extra amount isn't the issue at all (even though the policy is incredibly unclear and seems completely subjective), it was the clear lack of communication that was the problem. If there are additional charges based on types of hair then maybe the person scheduling the appointments should have asked ahead of time what kind of hair I had since this was my first time in the salon. I also did not appreciate the receptionist essentially taking no ownership over the situation. It seemed to be my fault that they did not know how long of an appointment to schedule for me. Tiffany did a great job and I was really happy with my haircut but the end of the appointment really soured my experience. read more

I had the best experience with Clover this week. She was so attentive and professional. She really took the time to evaluate my hair type and think about what I'm looking for. I have known Brooke for several years and she has been doing my hair at Shear Genius since she opened the salon. Everyone at the salon is completely professional and welcoming. They are always very accommodating to my scheduling changes or needs as well as my changing hairstyles and colors over the years. Brooke has always given me excellent advice and suggestions for my hairstyle. I rely on her expertise and trust my hair in her hands. I always look and feel great after my visits to the salon. When my mother was visiting from the west coast I called Shear Genius on very short notice and they were able to fit mom in for a shampoo and blow dry by Toni. Mom looked great and enjoyed chatting with Toni. The salon is modern, clean and well equipped. Their pricing is also very reasonable and lower than other salons I have used in the past and the quality and service is excellent. By far the best service in New England. I have known Brooke for almost 10 years...Each and every time she has left my hair looking spectacular. Tiffany is also amazing! You are welcomed by Pam, their incredibly sweet receptionist and are immediately taken to their chair where your transformation will commence. The salon is immaculate and super chic. Nothing but professionalism all around. I walk in knowing that my hair is in the best hands ever. I now live in Boston and let me tell you: I will wait months (sorry Brooke, I know it isn't ideal!) until I am able to visit the area just so that I can get my hair done by Shear Genius. You get so much more for your money, totally worth every single penny. If you haven't tried them yet, I recommend you do!
