I came in for a gel medi and pedi and I let them know over the phone that I had previous work done (gel x) on my nails. They soaked my hand for about 30 minutes but still did not fully take it off all the way. Instead of thoroughly cleaning the base of my nail Ana painted over it and called it a day. I didn't want to say anything in store because that is not the type of person I am but here are some pictures of their work. Not to mention she was cutting my skin and then cut too deep which made me bleed. After that she decided to put my hand back into acetone, not very professional. read more

Went in on a whim (called at ten, showed up at noon) because I wasn't liking my hair and thought a color change would make me feel better about myself. When I tell you... I've NEVER left a hair salon actually liking my hair, I mean it, and today, I LOVED it! I didn't expect much of anything, but Jenny got my hair ashier than it's ever been in just one session. For someone who's "not picky" (aka doesn't know what they want), I'm so grateful she delivered and actually cared. Amazing price as well. read more

I scheduled an appointment with Jenni and she was great! For starters, I would usually get a skin fade and take a little off the top with blending in the back. This time, I asked Jenni to try something new on me since I wanted to keep my longer hair on top and do a taper on the side. She pulled up a bunch of reference pictures on an iPad to verify which hairstyle I wanted and we went from there - and I love it. She was very patient and super cool and the vibes were immaculate. So happy they're open again and observing COVID precautions. They check your temperature upon entry, ensure you spritz some hand sanitizer in front + added plexi glass in the cashier area. They installed plastic dividers between pedicure chairs (including between shampoo sinks) and spread out manicure stations. The girls are always friendly and efficient and service rates are reasonable. I love the pedicure with cooling gel wrapped in hot towel around my leg. Feels so good! They offer hair and nail service. I've been coming to Shear Envy ever since I moved to OC over 8 years ago and refuse to go to another salon for my haircut/nails....ever! When I commit, I commit. I absolutely adore JENNI! She can do it all: haircuts (men/women/children), color, eyebrows, cosmetic tattooing, etc.! She makes every visit pleasant and you can tell she's been in this industry for years because everything she does is flawless. Whenever I visit, I allow her to have full control of what she recommends for my cut/style. My hair feels extremely healthy and I leave a happy customer. Another positive is she's pretty funny so the conversations flow naturally. My nail-tech is Sam. He is the professional of the professionals when it comes to acrylic, gel, gel-x. He can do anything and everything you want from color, designs, and style. Trust me, I get compliments all the time! Jenni and Sam seem to always be busy so I recommend making an appointment beforehand. Michael, who sometimes works at the front desk stops by and has conversations with all the customers and checks in to make sure everything is going smoothly. I used to come here all the time for hair cuts since they are affordable and normally well done. However, I did a cut and highlights with Anna and was very disappointed. She botched my highlights making them look like tiger stripes and the color was very orange after me specifically saying I wanted no brassy/orange tones. She had to tone it down several times after I told her that's not what I wanted. On top of that the cut was awful. I asked for a tiny bit off the ends and some layers and she cut several inches and did not do any layers.. She also charged me much higher than I would've expected for a quick and messy cut and color. I shouldn't have gone to Anna because my hair looked way better before I walked in and I left very disappointed. read more

One thing i'll say is that this place is a little bit ghetto, they don't always have a normal "seat" for you to do your manicure, but the company and the price is well worth it. I was sat on one of those hair drying chairs and given a pillow to rest my hands on while the manicurist Mary did my nails. I thought i would get moved to an actual seat, but no. It's okay though. it's half a hair salon and half a nail salon. everyone in the salon were so nice!! i would say it took about an hour for my gel manicure, to take off my original gel nails and put on a new set. but OMG, for only $25?! WHAT A STEAL! i've never had a gel manicure for so cheap. I had to tip $5 because not only was the service amazing, my nails were amazing too. So it took me a very long time to finally switch hair salons.... And after 15 years of going with the same hairdresser I finally came to Shear Envy salon. Jennie not only went above and beyond to make sure I felt at ease but my whole experience there was very comforting. From hearing customers compliment her work as well as reading all the reviews on Yelp. I'm glad I found this place. You gained another customer Jennie! I love my hair!! I have posted before and after pictures as you can see in the before I had patches of blonde here and there and was badly damaged, this isn't called highlights. From 12-20-18 ---- I understand that it was the holidays.... I called on Tuesday 12-18-18 and Michael answered and I wanted to make an apt with Sam for Thursday 12-20 and when I showed up on Thursday I was no where on the books for an apt! And I specifically asked Michael to confirm on my apt and he verified and when I showed up they overbooked me! I was very disappointed. If you call to make an apt a few days before or even the day before I suggest you call and verify before wasting your time. I really like this place. Sam always does an amazing job. The service however in overbooking was disappointing. I found this nail salon through Yelp. I decided to give it a try. IWhen I walked in I was seated right away and Sam was the one who did my nails. I was absolutely amazed in how great my nails turned out. At first my pinky nail was a bit shorter than I wanted but he managed to make it longer. He took his time making sure it was perfect. And they definitely are. I recommend this place and recommend you request Sam. You won't be disappointed. read more

I love coming here! Jenni put purple highlights in my hair in January and it turned out so beautiful and it blends perfectly. Just yesterday she put highlights in my hair, this time blue and it came out amazing as you can see in the pictures. She's very experienced and does great work, I recommend her to anyone looking to change up their hairstyle or just get a simple cut! Everyone there is super friendly and their COVID setup is spread out so it's safe and clean. They even have a temperature checking machine. Can't wait to come back again :) read more

Jenni is absolutely amazing! I am so glad she opened her own place. I have been going to her and ONLY her since 2009. I would rather go without a haircut than go to someone else. Her haircuts are reasonably priced and she is consistently fantastic. She has a knack for knowing what you want and delivering. The salon is right next to Ho Toy's (great cheap Chinese food) and Albertson's. Go see Jenni at Shear Envy Salon and try it out. You will not be disappointed! read more

$80 for a haircut and solid color + $20 to blow dry my naturally wavy/curly hair straight (no flat iron) = Just getting the color next time. Came here because Jerome W. (fellow Yelper) recommended it, and Hair Genesis in Garden Grove didn't answer the phone when I called three times. Set-up up an appointment time for Friday at 5:15-ish, came in and was seated right away and had a consultation with the famous Jenni. Told her I wanted to dye my hair mahogany and a trim with long layers and was quoted $80 to which I agreed . Here's what happened: COLOR: Started with the color and Jenni was quick and efficient and had another guy helping her with my hair. My hair was a little past shoulder length, wavy/curly and thin even though it may look thick when it's dry, but when you feel it it's definitely thin and easy to manage. Jenni was multi-tasking while my hair color was setting in. The guy that helped made sure to keep the dye on skin minimal and clean it up as best he could. The finished product was amazing and I loved it! CUT: So Mary was sent over to cut my hair while Jenni was working on another clients nails and she asked if I wanted long layers, I said yes, then she went into a spiel about how much a cut costs normally vs. how much it costs with a color and I couldn't understand her English that well, but felt like I was getting another quote for what I already discussed with Jenni. It went something like $15 to $35 and I said, "Jenni told me cut and color $80." I also asked Jenni how much would it cost to get my hair blow dried straight instead of just left as is (curly and wet) and she quoted me $20 and said to let her know if I wanted to do that. I let Mary know and then another price came up for blow-drying and I told her again, Jenni quoted me $20 for blow drying. Mary asked Jenni across the room in their native language to confirm what I said and agreed. I was really happy with my color and the whole renegotiating the price dance with Mary put me off about the haircut experience. I wish Jenni would've been the main person to do both my color and cut instead of balancing it between her and Mary, but it seems she's juggling a lot with doing nails as well as hair and I have nothing but respect for hard working women so no shade on Jenni. Definitely great place to get your hair colored, dyed, highlighted. I may come back to get my nails done and hopefully they do French ombre cause I would give them 5 plus stars and then some if they can do that. read more

They complained the the last person to do my nails made them crooked...... well they made them lumpy and nicked my finger while filing. Not local to this salon but in the area a lot. I will never go back to them. Plus they charged me $7 for a small uneven glitter line that I never even asked for. Make sure it is clear what you do & do not want.... they will just do more so they can charge you. I did like the ambiance....... they just need better customer service. They should not do something without asking then charge you for it...... read more

She's been doing my nails regularly and is always super kind, professional, and genuinely pleasant to spend time with. I usually get gel builder, and Lynn is incredibly meticulous about shaping, balance, and getting the color perfectly clean and even. She's also helped me with fun styles like cat eye and chrome, and always goes above and beyond to make sure everything looks just right. If you're looking for someone who really cares about the quality of her work and consistently delivers beautiful results, I can't recommend Lynn enough.

He asked me if it was the money or service I was upset about. I told him that I was upset at the service. I know the price and understood it was a service. I did let him know that I would still be going to visit my nail lady because I do love her work. So long as she is there I will continue to visit the location. I wish I had read the reviews from the person with her daughter. I went here because my nail lady started working here. I have followed her for over 10 years because she does the best pedicures! I took my daughter here to get her nails done for her Bday and promotions, she is 14. I called in to see if they could take her in at athe same time of my appointment for a full set of acrylic nails. They said yes to bring her. I arrived and reminded them it was for acrylic. I told the nail technician the same thing. She told him the same thing, I hear as she was near my seat and I even went over to see what design she had showed him. Somehow the guy that did her nails did Gel X nails. We did not ask for Gel X as we have that at home and can do that ourselves. Not sure it's was a language barrier but they did Gel x!!! My daughter said she didn't want me to cause a scene in the salon. She is also quite and shy so it doesn't surprise me that she didn't mention. So what I called I was very upset as they charged me $70 for her nails. They ask me why didn't my daughter say anything which I replied, She shouldn't have and it doesn't matter because I paid for the service and I had explicitly told them three times what we wanted, my daughter did too. At the end they did offer to take them off and put acrylic which I said absolutely not because they are fresh but of nails and if we do that it will ruin her nail bed. I did ask for my money back they said the owner would call me back I was adamant to get a response and then there because they had supposedly already alert at the owner. At the end they hung up on me I called back I thought it was a mistake turns out that they are blocking me according to the message from the salon. I am upset and I am expecting a call from the owner as per our conversation before they hung up on me. Very bad customer service and very bad attitude from some of these people. I love my nail lady, she apologized to me on a separate text and I apologize to her because I am upset, but I am so very upset at the salon not her. She did an amazing job on my pedicure as always.

But as time has gone on the quality has definitely nose dived. I would even bring my husband and son since he was 6 to get family pedicures which we cut out once we realized they have "princess pedicures" for kids under 12 ( which is just a cheaper pedicure as they are smaller) but have been charging us full price anyway (for years!). They also began being very rude and giving attitude for scrolling on my ipad (I read my homework while I wait) after drying my nails of course as if I am going to scroll with the top of my nails The last straw was when I went in tonight an hour before they closed. A little close I know but usually if all I get is a set im in and out within an hr maybe an hr and a half and I will tip well for good service, always. I had a simple nail design (I will share a pic of what I asked for and what I got) and it took from start to finish 3 hours! Which would be excusable if I had a complex design and they got it RIGHT. I left after 3 hours wondering why my nails looked like a 4 year old did them and still got charged a full $65 for this horrendous waste of time. Will never return even after 7 years of being loyal.

Place was super packed and busy. I called to make an appointment in advance so there was no wait. Nails came back a bit lighter than the sample but I still looks good! It was $40 for the nail dip on my real nails The nail tech that did my nails was very friendly and patient.
