Great customer service, the staff is wonderful but this store is just gross, the produce area and overall quality of the store is nasty and horrible including the outdated rundown building! Shame on you Shaw's, customers expect more from for your stores this one is a very disappointing representation of your name and brand. Btw, watch out for spiders. read more

I have been a customer here for most of my life, and my perception of some things changed after a very dangerous safety issue involving a stranger whose phone was constantly recording occurred here on 8-19-2024. I have spoken to the management about this and they were very helpful. They even checked security footage, and, given how long I have been a customer, they were very receptive. A woman with very long, frizzy, dyed-black hair, heavy-set in tight blue jeans, appears to have been videotaping me, holding her phone straight up, with her back to me on the way into the store. She then stops, keeping the phone straight up, so I turned around and rode my cart out the entrance and back outside just to get out of her camera range. As I shop I go into aisle 3 and I have proven with my receipt I needed to be there. This woman is standing near the end of the aisle with her back to me and she extends her left arm to show me her camera's eyes. I get what I need and again, turn around and go back out the way I came in to avoid her camera's gaze. She did not move the whole time. After I leave I go to put my cart away. I am vey close to the brick wall to the right of the entrance. She suddenly drives her cart up to me on my right and I am now standing between her and the wall. I see her camera's eyes (filming me at close range) and the back of her head. I turn to my left to walk around her to avoid her completely. When I get to the car, she is still standing there and looking my way. Then she won't leave the parking lot. Then she drove around the back. I want what she actually did to be known if she now chooses to identify me as a part of her life. I can guarantee you no one reading this has ever heard of anything like this at this location before now. read more

They suck. They hate all kids/teenagers, really mean grumpy young workers, takes to long to rest-stock food, creep on the teenagers in the store, makes customers uncomfortable , only nice workers are the bakery workers, workers won't help you, overall really sucks would NEVER recommend read more

I never check into grocery stores, but I had to today. I was in the area of Shaws and really needed a cold drink on this particularly hot day, so I ran in to buy a bottle of water....$2.29 for one bottle of water!!! That's robbery! read more

First of all, for the most part the employees here are great. The check out people are always very friendly and do their jobs very well. That's where it ends with the good experience here. The store is very tiny. It's more along the lines of what you would expect from a grocery store in the 1980s and probably the flooring, shelves and signage hasn't changed much since then. The selection here is about as small as the store. You can't find a lot of products that most stores carry. It's good for a quick in and out of the Staples. The meat section is always pretty dubious to me. The butcher here does not cut the meat well and most of the steak you will find is full of fat and gristle. The chicken is trimmed equally as bad and there is only one tiny chicken case, most of which is sold out. They have a bargain meat section at the end where bloody lamb is thrown in with chicken and beef. Anyone who works in the restaurant industry will tell you that's a major board of health violation ... You do not put leaky packages of chicken on top of beef, etc. Especially given that the sale stuff is almost expired ... Good luck to you if you gamble with this stuff. The produce here is always either unripe or moldy and rotten. Every single time I buy blueberries or strawberries here the bottom ones are covered in white fruit mold. The broccoli and brussel sprouts are full of brown rotten spots and they have this weird water mist that has delicate produce like cilantro and parsley drenched in water which is why it's all wilted and brown. I will never buy produce here unless I have to. The only things worth a damn I've found are the avocados which are usually ready to eat, although many have brown spots. The bread section is abysmal. It's not at a bakery shelf but rather in wicker baskets in an isle. The bread often looks stale and in some cases I've found green mold spots and had to bring bread back the next day. The selection is also terrible ... It's pretty much a choice between a couple loaves. Other places have variety. Overall the store is kind of grimy and beat up looking. It's outdated and kind of a different era. The employees are nice and cordial but it's just not a place I'd shop unless I had to. Not too many other options in Auburn unless you count Park and Shop and if this Shaw's feels like the 1980s, the Park and Shop is literally the 60s or 70s. read more

This has to be the smallest Shaw's I've ever been to. I only stop here when it's convenient to my other stops as the selection is more limited then Sturbridge and Webster where I usually visit. I will say that the store is always clean, and the aisles always clear. read more

This store is not on my beaten path, so I rarely go here but when I do - it's for 2 things. They have an amazing bakery close out section - tons of half priced baked goods. And cheap flowers - bouquets for $5. The cashiers are friendly- to a fault. They are happy to chat with you, but it tends to hold up the line. The produce is scary, as is the meat. read more

The only reason I shop here is because of the sweetest cashier/front end person Mackenzie. She is always so helpful and so pleasant. She knows her job and knows her store! Thank you! read more

I'd give them zero stars if I could. The absolute worst in every category, especially the attitude and ineptitude of some of their staff. Seriously, have these people even been living on their own yet? Do they actually know what any of these "grocery items" are? Where they are? How much they are? Um, no...no they don't! And then good luck with the people you're supposed to complain to, ffs! Gawd I can't wait till a decent grocery store opens up in the area! {heavy sigh} read more

I stop here sometimes when I need to grab something quick. I always forget to check expiration dates and always get home with something expired. I've even had times when I've checked the dates and I can't buy what I need because it's already 6 months expired... read more

The music sucks! And the produce department shouldn't have to listen to that music... because they're super cool.

This store is disgusting. Much of the produce they sell is moldy already and the deli is infested with flies. Went to get ham one night and about 8 flies flew off the meat slicer. I quickly shouted never mind to the deli worker who didn't seem bothered by it! read more

Honestly not a great shaws. The selection with neat is never great. I've had a few bad experiences with associates being rude. Today was irritating - we went to get a cake for my father in laws birthday.. we wanted to get the typical "happy birthday" written on the cake. The guy at the deli yelled "the person in the bakery left at 4." Okay, so... do you have someone that can write it for Us? Instead of suggesting to get someone to help us, he ignored us until we asked for him to call someone to write on the cake for us. He yelled across the deli to another associate and told her to call the store manager, George. After nearly 5 minutes we left and bought our own tube of frosting to write it ourselves. Definitely will be the last time visiting that bakery, would probably have better service at Walmart. read more

Store is outdated and very unsanitary, shelves are bent, selection is poor, very high priced supermarket, customer service is lacking (rude employees) and a lot of out of stocks There are better supermarkets around. Avoid read more

As a disclosure, I worked here as a grocery clerk for six years. I took the initiative to check for expired items every Sunday morning when I "blocked" the store (meaning straighten out the shelves to make them look pretty for when the store opened). I was disgusted with the amount of expired items I found. There were times I would pull 2, or 3 full carriages of expired product off the shelf. I would always pull at least a carriage a week. Most of these were slow moving items, but others were due to lack of diligence on a employees part (i.e. dairy stock not being rotated). I haven't worked at this market in four years, and when I do shop here, I make it a point to check the dates on any product I purchase. I'm not sure if they have someone who does code pulls now, but I stopped by on 05/31/2016 and took about 7, 8 boxes of knock off hamburger helper (Essential Everyday) off the shelf for expiration dates. Some of these boxes were 7 months out of code. These were right up front on the shelf, how these weren't pulled months ago is a mystery to me. My advice is to check any dates of items that you buy. read more

I started shopping at the Shaws in Auburn because I moved from the area in Milford where I usually shop. I go to Shaws for the great sales but I will be traveling a bit further to Worcester because of the customer service when checking out is awful, including the deli where NOBODY smiles, very cold enviornment. At least I get a smile from the floor employees. Twice my coupons were forgotten. The first time I went to the customer service desk and said to myself "things happen" but when it occurred the second time and the cashier blamed me for not giving the coupons to him in time, mind you I had to finish putting my food on the conveyor belt first, I had enough. He was down right rude when I asked about deducting my coupons. I can't understand for the life of me why people work in the customer service field if you don't like "people"??? Also, this store never has any of the sale items in frozen or dairy available. Example: I have been there on numerous occasions to grab the sales on yogurts and I have even gone as early as 10am and it's NEVER in stock. I will continue to shop at Shaws, just not this one and when I shop it's me, my mother and my daughter. So the store loses 3 customers from my experiences. It's too bad the one in Webster closed down because the customer service was much better, maybe they should shut this one down and reopen that one :( I also need to mention that on my last visit to the store I made my grocery list based on the next week sale items, as the website shows both flyers. When I returned home I realized the error and called the store manager, ER, spoke with him and he said I could bring my receipt in so it could be adjusted, which I lost $19.78. I went back to the store and was told she could not do that, so I asked for the store manager with the initials on my receipt and explained I spoke to the manager already. She supposidly dialed for him and I was asked to go home and call him again to arrange a time to come back and see him, huh?? I will not be back. read more
