Stop and Shop has a rating system for their store - A, B and C levels. The one in Lincoln Plaza,…read morenow gone, was a C level store. Everyone knows why. The one in Westboro was A level. Again, no surprise. Same deal here. The Shrewsbury TJ's is disgusting, yet the one in Framingham is great (and has wine, but that's not the important diffentiator since Total Wine was wise in opening a store right next to the TJ's in Shrewsbury). I shop both regularly, but will now be avoiding the one in Shrewsbury. It's just gross, rat traps as you walk along the sidewalk is a start. Sure, it's great that they are trapping them, but they don't go where there isn't food laying around to eat. Also gross is buying fresh produce only to find out two days later it's moldy/wilted. What in the world do they do to this stuff to have it go bad a week before date?! I suspect poor refridgeration in store or on way to store. The chickens - sometimes they'll have a date 2 weeks out, you open them the next freak'n day and they smell spoiled. It's not good. Speaking of dates, be careful - they don't rotate the shelves. They think they are clever by not doing so since people are used to reaching behind for fresher produce. I've learned to actually look at a few and pick the freshest. One time I reached behind for a later date and the dude who has been there a long time (looks like the Pitbull character from Fraiser) actually had the ballzarios to comment about it to me, all annoyed that I did that. HA! Then I saw him go back to SLAMMING bags of chips into the shelf, stuffing them in tight and smashing the shiznit out of them. Seems common, all the chips and crackers from this place a smashed up inside the bag. They are rearranging the store with hopes of it getting better I guess? All their bread is previously frozen too, hence it gets moldy REALLY fast. But, yeah, it's the lack of preservatives, right.

Love their food selections and the quality of their products. This is a very clean store with nice…read moreemployees. I enjoyed shopping here

Review: The "Donut Heist" at Market Basket Shrewsbury…read moreRating: (and that's being generous with the sprinkles) If you've ever wanted to feel like a high-stakes international jewel thief while picking up a loaf of bread, look no further than the Shrewsbury Market Basket. I didn't realize that entering the bakery section required a background check and a polygraph, but here we are. Yesterday, I witnessed the "Great Donut Stakedown." They actually cornered a veteran--a man who probably navigated minefields--and accused him of smuggling a single glazed donut. I half-expected the SWAT team to fast-rope from the ceiling and the "cleanup on aisle 4" guy to start readng him his Miranda Rights. The customer service here has gone from "hectic" to "paranoia-induced fever dream." Apparently, the profit margins on a 90-cent pastry are so thin that they've redirected their entire security budget to profiling senior citizens and veterans. After a very awkward confrontation and the realization that, no, he wasn't hiding a Long John in his pocket, they offered an "apology" that was about as warm as a frozen turkey. If you enjoy being treated like an extra in Ocean's Eleven for the crime of wanting a snack, this is your spot. Personally, I'll be taking my "criminal expertise" elsewhere.

Market 32 is our closest grocery store, yet it is always one of our last choices. Our pecking order…read moreof supermarkets in our area is as follows: 1. Wegmans 2. Whole Foods 3. Market Basket 4. Stop & Shop 5. Market 32 6. Price Chopper/Hannaford We realize that quality and selection with some of these grocery stores can vary by location. For example, a Price Chopper can be much nicer in one town than in another (Price Chopper Webster, MA is a very nice PC). But in our area, we stand by these standings! We use Market 32 as a giant convenience store for on demand staples like hamburger patties and rolls, milk and eggs. That said, some of these items are much more expensive than Market Basket. And when it comes to produce, we're always disappointed with Market 32 quality, and often the price too. Bok choy is a good example. Market 32 Bok choy is often $2 more a pound than at Market Basket, and limp, like it's been on a Price Chopper truck for a few days too long. And the cod we tried, was very fishy and compares poorly with cod loins from Wegman's. Market 32 prepared pizza was very disappointing, though I tried sushi here once (I was starving), and to my chagrin, it was pretty good. On the plus side, this Market 32 is quite new, quite clean, and usually quite quiet. But other than on-demand necessitates, we have much better choices if we're willing to drive an extra 10 - 15 minutes.

OKAY, Being on the spectrum is NOT an excuse to ask unsolicited RUDE & INVASIVE to your customers!!…read more Like seriously WTFFF. As follows: We went for a big grocery run (tho, literally NO ONE OWES ANYONE an explanation as to why ppl need certain ingredients & groceries). 3/4 into checking out, the kid employee, William L. bagging our food was openly complaining about how he doesn't wanna work anymore for the day (yes, which I get, it was around 615pm on a Thursday. I'm sure it was a long day) HOWEVER, he proceeded to ask us the following: - "why do you have so many groceries???" (As if it was an incredible inconvenience to him). BRUH, ITS NONE OF YOUR GODDAMN BUSINESS. - "is it just us two at home? Are you cooking for just you or a lot of people?" , AGAIN, ITS NONE OF YOUR GODDAMN BUSINESS. Thank gawd my partner stepped in to deescalate the situation. Like seriously. Regardless of whether or not you're on the spectrum it's incredibly rude to openly judge other people's groceries & ask them about their personal lives. ESPECIALLY if you're the one working there. Not to mention the lady in front of us was checking out at least 10 liters of apple juice & fruit punch & processed foods & juice boxes. I didn't hear him say anything to her about her choice of how she shops. Not nearly as much as we had for a lot of smaller ingredients. I didn't say anything or else I would've had another employee to intervene. The cashier who was with us seemed super embarrassed tht his coworker was even asking such questions. If you're just trying to make small talk with your customers (which these small towns often do during check out) THIS AINT IT.

The cashier seemed like she was brand new and wasn't paying attention to anything when I handed her a $20 bill and a $1 bill for the $11 sale. She took the cash and immediately shut the drawer giving me the receipt but no change. When I said "I gave you $21" she said no you didn't. I then said it louder and the floor guy came over and said "what happened" I told him what happened and he says "we have to check the camera to make sure you're telling the truth". This infuriated me, he then walked away and called a manager to check video and that took like 20 minutes itself. The floor guy was being an absolute jack@ss even when the cashier looked in the drawer and saw that I did give her the $21 for the water to get a $10 bill back. The floor guy kept talking under his breath and talking to other workers until the manager came out of an office or something and put his thumbs up to the floor guy to give me my money change back. He didn't even say sorry or anything, just smugly gave me the change and walked away saying something which I couldn't make out. Very rude, unprofessional and treating customers like the ghetto store this place has become. This is why even living in Worcester, I try to travel outside of the city get get my groceries or any service done. People here are degenerates who could care less how they treat people. But that is okay because the manager of the store will hear from me and I will try to find a corporate number to complain about the service and people this store gives and employs. I would assume this is why people only work in this dump of a market for a few paychecks, realizes it s@cks and leave.
