This gym is more interested in selling classes in addition to the membership. You don't have to…read morejoin the classes, but the problem is when the classes take up all the usable space and members are left with little to none. For example, youth swim lessons and water aerobics take up the entire pool area on Saturdays, making it impossible if you would like to swim laps. "Alpha" fitness classes have two areas that take up a significant portion of the upstairs gym, and they run classes constantly. On top of all this, the equipment that is left for members to use (i.e. benches and machines) are old and falling apart. I personally had a pin slip from an adjustable bench when I had it set to incline for bench press. I fell back with it and chipped my tooth. For the money you pay and for the money they add for extra classes and "events", they should really have better stuff for the general membership. It presents as though little regard is given to the overall members.

Walked out halfway through a group x workout today when the room hit 77°. Called that day to ensure an instructor would be leading to the class and it was confirmed. When I arrived, a different instructor was there, which was what I was trying to avoid. There are many much better gyms than this one. Hot as hell during summer and leaky ceilings during rain, no thanks. I'd rather go to a clean planet fitness.

There is literally a class for everyone! There is cardio equipment, a large weight room, many racquetball courts, a pool, indoor track, and basketball courts. They also have a smoothie bar / beverage station. I wish I lived closer, but because they are so awesome, it is not going to deter me getting a membership. They also offer swim lessons for all levels at discounted member rates. The class I attended today was taught by Corey. She was great, enthusiastic, and the class was perfect for me!!! In cycle, you adjust the tension to your fitness level. The instructor will encourage you to increase your resistance also. It will keep you from slacking! I strongly urge everyone to give this place a shot. It is so fun and I can't wait to start spending my boring winter evenings there! They also have a sauna and whirlpool, I have not seen/used these yet, so I can't comment. I read one review that said it "smells upstairs" but I did not experience that. Mary, at the front desk was so friendly and accommodating, I was thrilled she showed me around. Another bonus is free use of locks! You just check your keys in and they give you a lock to use. The womens locker room is newly renovated, and they also offer towel service. I'm still giving them 5 stars, though, as other yelpers have discussed, the cardio room/equipment could use some updates. However, the machines work and I haven't noticed anyone waiting around for anything. Besides, I go there for the classes and will be using the pool, and tend not to spend a lot of time in the cardio area. They offer free childcare and tons of other programs/leagues. They even offer golf swing lessons, and massage therapy!!! I think they have done significant updates since other people have reviewed this place, so if you're thinking of checking it out, do it. Note: the 3-4 year-old littles playing soccer is a blast to watch as the cuteness factor is off the scale. It is not inexpensive to have your children participate in competitive athletics, but if one can afford it, then having a facility like this makes it all the more attractive. Unless you live in a warm weather area where you can play outside nine months of the year, you are limited by the four seasons we get here in Kansas. But All American Indoor Sports provides that safe, fun environment for families where the elements are removed and the activity is the focus.

It offers a number of fields beginning with the small ones for those starting out up to larger regulation size fields for those who are older, have honed their skills and become more competitive. I wrote "very clean" in all caps up above and I mean it. The facility provides about sixteen playing fields as well as concessions, restrooms and the whole bit and there wasn't any trash anywhere. The bathrooms were well kept and the fields and bleachers were spotless. There is a $5 for adults, a little less for kids, entry fee, but with how everything is taken care of, it is well worth the small price to pay. This is a fairly large complex and thankfully the grounds have a website with a great big map that is a big help. Not only does it show the field layouts, but it shows the best areas to park and enter, which on a busy day when you're running late, is nice to have. Your kids will love playing here and I have a feeling that you'll love watching them play here.

At any rate the Merriam Community Center is modern and absolutely the future of these kind of multi-use spaces realized. I noticed there was a brand new library nearby as well and made a note to return as if it's anything like this new space it's probably great as well.

Their pool area seems pretty great as well, though I haven't used it myself.
