Customer service needs a lot of work. Do not expect that they care about member experiences.

This gym is more interested in selling classes in addition to the membership. You don't have to join the classes, but the problem is when the classes take up all the usable space and members are left with little to none. For example, youth swim lessons and water aerobics take up the entire pool area on Saturdays, making it impossible if you would like to swim laps. "Alpha" fitness classes have two areas that take up a significant portion of the upstairs gym, and they run classes constantly. On top of all this, the equipment that is left for members to use (i.e. benches and machines) are old and falling apart. I personally had a pin slip from an adjustable bench when I had it set to incline for bench press. I fell back with it and chipped my tooth. For the money you pay and for the money they add for extra classes and "events", they should really have better stuff for the general membership. In Dec 2025, I filed a formal complaint regarding repeated uncomfortable interactions with a trainer after a prior documented attempt to establish boundaries. I expected discretion and proper follow-up. After reporting, I became aware of information that made me question whether confidentiality was maintained. Management attempted to discuss my complaint in public areas in front of another client rather than privately. I was passed between multiple local and corporate staff members with no clear point of contact or consistent updates. I paused my membership on December 24, 2025 and requested cancellation on February 4, 2026. After no response, I submitted a second request and ultimately canceled on February 10. Between my pause on 12/24 and my request on 2/4, I received no follow up. Between my request on 2/4 and cancellation on 2/10, a front desk employee who was unaware of the situation called to encourage me to return. I attempted to schedule an in-person discussion multiple times, but my request was not addressed. This experience caused ongoing stress and has led me to doubt Life Time's care for their members. Bottom line: Don't trust that you're valued as a member or that your voice matters. read more

We will be cancelling our membership if the prices increase yet again. There is no justification for the exorbitant fees we already pay. Everyone we know who is a member at this gym is also planning on canceling their memberships if the price increases again. I hope they see this and do something about it. I've been a member since this location opened and have watched it steadily decline from a top-tier facility to a chaotic and overpriced mess. I've visited Lifetime Fitness locations all over the country Dallas, Omaha, Des Moines, Indianapolis, St. Louis, Chicago, Las Vegas and even the one just down the road in Overland Park is run much smoother than Lenexa. There are never clean towels available, and the cleaning staff travels in packs, yet it still takes four people to stand around while one person changes a roll of toilet paper. The turnover in management is constant they go through general managers faster than they can restock the towel shelves. The gym floor has been turned into one giant group fitness area with classes blasting their own music like it's a battle of the bands. Even with all the space they've been given, these groups still overflow into other areas, taking up equipment and making it nearly impossible to get a proper workout in. Good luck if you need to drop your kids off at the Kids Center. You might be greeted by an employee literally wearing a child on her back, or see employees' kids sleeping or eating in the lobby area. There's no structure, no leadership, and definitely no professionalism like there was under the previous Kids Center director. The cost of membership is outrageous. We recently joined a country club that includes a gym, pool, and golf at a lower price than Lifetime. At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised to see this place become a Genesis Gym in a few years. Half the people inside seem to just be working a few hours to score a free membership. Lifetime used to represent quality. Life Time - a bunch of 45 and 10 pound weights ... no 25 to be found smh - Gyms Near Me - Lenexa, Kansas

My 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat was stolen out of the Lifetime gym parking lot in Lenexa, KS on Friday (5/10/2024). Last seen by a traffic cam going south on I-435. I think the gym should have an emergency protocol to contact management during off hours in order to get video footage to law enforcement in a timely manner, for situations like this. It's ridiculous that Lifetime can't get important criminal footage to law enforcement because no one has an emergency contact for the GM. What do I pay for a membership for? All law enforcement can do is leave an office message or email. Meanwhile, the thieves have the entire weekend to dispose of my car. Please take corrective action, emergencies will continue to happen where video footage is useful, and you may also want to warn members. As you enter this magnificent building you're met with loud banking like someone was banging on a hollow pipe with with a sledge hammer. Oh good, more update construction...no it was two people doing deadlifts throwing the weights crashing to the ground that went on for over an hour with a trainer standing by to encourage such behavior. Soon there will be new flooring and weights we all can enjoy. If you want more noise because the GM thinks its all part of the experience you have blaring music out in the middle of the gym where they are having a class that takes up so many weight areas and then you have so many people climbing over each other to get on the few machines that is not being occupied by by the class. When I brought the blaring music to the attention of the GM for the second time in two month he was more than willing to listen. Well me listen while he proceeded to tell me to deal with it. The GM thinks the cranked up the rap music is there to encourage everyone. He admitted that loud music motivates him so all is right with the world and others can suck it up. He then offered me the chance to contact corporate (how nice of him) and it would come back to him anyway and he could proactively place it in the email trash can. How thoughtful don't you think! So I'm in the process of taking his advice but, I thought it would ne helpful to him to spread the cheer and contact the Better Business Bureau. They are always happy to hear from customers who are over the top happy with their experience. So if you want to attend this gym wear ear plugs, noise cancelling head phones, and a penchant for disrespectful entitled people here's your gym. read more

I absolutely love this gym. It is by far the best gym in town! Maybe even in the United States (I spend a lot of time here, so I'm a big fan). I have been a member for over a decade, and it never gets old. Every workout you could ever want to do is here- basketball, racquetball, rock climbing, reformer Pilates, mat Pilates, yoga, circuit classes, bootcamp-style classes, barre classes, dance/zumba classes, kickboxing classes, barbell classes, cycle classes, and on and on. The workout equipment is clean, up-to-date, and well-maintained. The group fitness instructors are all amazing. Personal trainers are great, too (Kristi Fry is always so cheerful and upbeat). It's also a luxury hotel type of place. They have an indoor and outdoor pool, hot tubs, saunas, a spa, a cafe, great showers and lockers (you don't have to bring your own lock and key), and fresh white towels every where. You could come here and find plenty to do without even working out. They also have great water fountains. This gym is my oasis. They will give you a free guest pass to check them out for a week, too! I love Life Time Fitness and I always have. Life Time Fitness isn't the closest facility I have where I live but it's worth the drive. Other times I do have a membership at competitors facilities for days I don't want to drive. I couldn't tell you ONE time I have walked into Life Time and not been greeted and asked how I'm doing. I've gone at 1AM multiple times after a long work shift and had great conversations and great greetings. The staff is so passionate whether it be checking people in, signing up memberships, cleaning the locker rooms and even cleaning / re-racking the gym. This specific location is always so clean, you don't see dust anywhere. I've even been curious when I get higher doing chin-ups to look over the Yoga Sign and on top of TVs and even there, spotless! Amazing. Huge basketball courts, kids facility, and rock climbing. Nonetheless I appreciate being a member here more than just the facility but always feel like I'm welcome. Kinda like a nice neighbourhood I move into, except it's consistent, clear, and clean. I may not go as often now that it's busier as I work retail and get tired after work, but I won't even cancel my membership because I know after any long day if I really need to relax or let a weight off my should I'll visit. Maybe 2020 is my physique year, 2019 wasn't. 10/10 recommend to anyone in the area looking into joining. read more

I always thought LIfe Time was expensive. It's not much more expensive than comparable gyms (Genesis, Lenexa Rec Center) and it has some features that reeled me in. 1. Customer Service is premiere - a suited friendly rep (in my case, Blake) walks you around touring and making sure you love it. 2. Facility is top notch and well taken care of, and it does have a premier feel about it. 3. Outside of the normal setup you'd expect, here are some cool features I liked and wasn't aware of before I stepped in, which are all included in the membership: - Hot Yoga (I came from California, missed this so much, there is only 1 other hot yoga place in the OP area and they charge more than Lifetime's membership rate to attend) - Rock Wall (again, you'll pay more than Lifetime's membership rate to climb anywhere) - 2 guest passes per month to use as you please (bring family to the pool on the weekend, bring a friend to try it out, etc.) - fully equipped TRX structure read more

I've been working out here for about 7-8 months and have thought many times about writing this, but wanted to wait until I'd been here for awhile to ensure I was being as balanced as possible! At this point, Life Time has my loyalty. They're not perfect (no gym is) but here's what I appreciate: 1. The training staff. I've been training with Nick and he's highly educated but also personable and in tune with his clients. This is the best shape I've been in, ever. 1:1 training is expensive, but the ROI is better than any other option for me. 2. Amenities. Spa, Cafe (with good WiFi), group fitness AND childcare are music to this mom's ears. So. Many. Options. 3. Cafe has grass fed options. I appreciate the forward thinking. 4. Kid-friendly indoor pool. So key for winter activities. 5. Marketing focuses on health and personal transformation, not gimmicky crap like "getting shredded" or burning calories without building a foundation of overall health. 6. Childcare is decent. I'm pretty protective, but my kid has been happy there and that's my priority. I haven't taken advantage of the many elevated offerings like summer camp or "nights out" but I think it's super cool that they're available and kids seem to enjoy it. 7. The app is solid and integrates with my affordable heart rate chest strap for extra feedback on how I'm doing. Of course they're not perfect. The bathrooms could use an extra exhaust fan for white noise (ha) and the soaps provided in the showers are pretty worthless - definitely BYO. But for the base price, which is way less than I was spending on CrossFit, I couldn't be happier and overall I've been extremely happy and would definitely recommend this gym. read more

Great clean facility which overs a wide variety of sports and health services. One of my favorites is the trainer Marah Thompson. If you are looking for a trainer who will push you to meet and exceed your every goal then don't judge a book by the cover. She may look tiny, but she is a training machine! Sensitive and responsive to you as a client she has tailored workouts that are fun and tough. In 4 weeks time I have lost weight, gained muscle, strength, and endurance. I've been a member here for 3 months now and the place is down right amazing. From the moment you walk in you will be in awe from the elegance of the facilities and the amount of amenities this place provides. There is a full spa and salon, 4 swimming pools including a full outdoor waterpark, 3 gynnasiums, a large rock climbing wall, multiple workout studios for classes, full child care facilities, free weights, machines, and an abundance of friendly and professional staff to help you. They also offer an arraybof health services including various blood workups, nutrition, and fitness programs I've never seen at another gym. My 3 yr ok absolutely loves the child care facilities and begs often to go which makes working out a breeze since he can be there up to 2 hours a day. I've also never had to wait on equipment, even when the parking lot is full. I highly recommend this gym to both the novice and the experienced fitness guru. read more

Overpriced and very pretentious. This "club" has tons of employees roaming around doing nothing. The family locker room always smells like urine, my guess is because there are showers and no toilets in most of the changing rooms. The locker room towels are several different shades of white, stained, and located on shelves that are unreachable for average height people. They have a cafe where they charge $10 for a small sized smoothie among other extremely overpriced items. The spa has plenty of employees but 0 customers most days because the price charged for each service is about 60% over market value for the area. The childcare area smells dirty and is very overloaded and understaffed when any classes are going on upstairs. The childcare hours are very sporadic and it is very hit or miss as to weather they will hold the children's activities they list on their app or decide to blow it off. The workout areas upstairs are full of "trainers" roaming around, not to help anyone, but to try to sell you their very expensive services. The equipment is nice, however you will have all eyes on you when you go to use it, as clusters of "trainers" like to stand at the desk and chat about the guests. The open equipment isn't always usable, because they hold paid classes in the middle of the workout areas and will tell you to move if you try to use any equipment in that area. The equipment seems to be clean, but you the guest are expected to clean each piece of equipment after use with their very generic, barely wet wipes located in dispensers, and strewn throughout the club. It is very difficult to get out of their "non contract" as other reviewers here have stated. Their "policies" change often and you may or may not get what you signed up for and are paying for. This location is about making money and a lot of it. You can expect to pay your monthly fees and plenty more for any other services they try to sell you. IOW it's an "exclusive club" where the customers are considered cash cows and nothing more. My opinion is to save yourself some money and a lot of headache and go down the street to the brand new new Lenexa Rec Center where the "amenities" are the same at a lower price with fewer exclusions. read more

This has been my partners gym for a while and he finally convinced me to join this gym with him. I love it! The atmosphere is non judge-mental. GREAT workout options from classes - equipment and even an aquatic area. We do alternating routines between swimming and weightlifting and there has always been weights available and lanes in the pool area available at almost any time of the day. So this center has enough space to accommodate their guest because the gym is almost always busy when we go. The locker rooms are amazing, spacious, clean, and towels are provided! One of the best gyms I've ever been a part of! I'm glad I joined. read more

Lenexa location-The gym and amenities are good but the membership is overpriced. They recently got a new GM-Kevin and he lets the employees do whatever they want. He recently hired a new Manager Kelly for the childcare center and many of the employees and members have left and cancelled their membership because of her unprofessionalism. She treats her employees badly and talks about them behind their back. She is also known for taking kids out of the child care center and not letting the parents know. Gym is very clean and has top notch Iron Grip dumbbells and plates. In the mornings before 7 the gym is crawling with trainers having sessions. They use two pieces of equipment at a time and don't allow you to "work in". The trainers are teaching poor gym etiquette and it shows. The dumbbell rack is usually picked over because people take them 50 yards across the gym and use them for 10 minutes without placing them back on the rack. The rack is missing dumbbells on a Sunday morning with 3 people in the weight area. Where are these dumbbells? There is an abundance of 35 lbs plates and a lack of 45 lbs plates. They try and sell you a membership it's the 30 bucks as a visitor if there is one plus person visiting. I was very interested in becoming a member at Lifetime Fitness Lenexa. I had visited the gym before and was very impressed with the facilities. When I saw the offer for a 7-day pass on Facebook, I was thrilled. I had wanted to try Lifetime again before signing up to experience peak hours at Lifetime and to assess how visiting Lifetime before and after work would affect my commute. When I got to Lifetime, Jeremy offered to sign up me up for a membership. I explained that I was looking forward to using my 7-day pass and Jeremy informed me that because I had visited Lifetime before, I was not eligible for a 7-day pass. I expressed that I was sorry to hear that and regretted being under the wrong impression. Jeremy pointed out that there is an excellent membership special taking place that I should take advantage of because I would not be able to take advantage of the special after the conclusion of a 7-day pass. I thanked him for the offer. Jeremy then asked if I was not interested in signing up because of financial circumstances. He explained that when he was young, like myself, he frequently tried out gyms he had no intention of becoming a member of because it was free. He expressed that I must be in a similar situation since I didn't want to sign up for a membership. I found his comments prejudiced and unwelcoming. I requested a sit down with one of the staff and told them,on that Tuesday, I was ready to commit, as soon as my 7 day pass expired. I would not join this gym just because of the high pressure sales and the ridiculous price. Do you really need all this to get a good workout? I love my gym, the people are friendly, helpful, a great variety of classes & facility at a great price- can this be worth that much more to stay fit? This place puts the competition to shame. Not sure how often they have the deal we got, but my fiancee and I signed up with no contract, no sign up fee, and credits for free personal training sessions or credit towards a spa session. Although the total monthly bill is a bit higher than other places, I believe every penny is worth it. This place isn't even in the same league as your typical gym. It's more like a gym resort. There are so many machines, that you typically never have to wait for anything even though there are a ton of people there. They have a rock climbing wall, two full size basketball courts, an indoor lap pool, and indoor/outdoor recreational pool with a pretty big slide and drink bar outside, two huge jacuzzis, eucalyptus steam room, sauna, private yoga/pilates rooms, free class sessions, free unlimited/clean towels, a complete spa, a healthy themed restaurant, supplements, and anything else you think a gym should probably have. All the staff I've come across is super friendly and the people who go here are your average person instead of your typical meat-head body builder who stares at you like you don't belong in their gym. read more

I was a member for 5 years. The gym is clean with good equipment. I even invested in some personal trainer classes and I found the trainers pleasant and well engaging. My woes begun when my membership was cancelled due to changes that were implemented by the new GM. At least that is what Mr. Almanza stated. Thats all fine, however, prior to those changes, I had purchased personal trainer classes which a Mr. Nicholas Briney (the trainer who sold it to me) stated that I am not owed back. How are going to cancel a membership on someone unexpectedly and then decline to refund unattended classes? I can live with being stolen from, money comes and goes. what I cannot fathom however, is how Mr. Briney addressed me with disdain. It was hard to wrap my head around the fact that this was the man that made commissions off me. Now I was a worthless human being because I no longer added to his bottom line. Straw that finally broke camel's' back is child care woefully lacking--understaffed with disinterested teens and infant area overflowing. Honorable toddler was upset and humbly requested be held until calmed down. Walked away for 30 second only to return to toddler again left crying on the floor and teenage attendant ignoring duties. Six years ago, this was a new heavenly location with once inexpensive family friendly cafe. Short flash of time and over $9,000 in membership fees later, taste of dissatisfaction lingers in mouth. The sound of loud dropping weights abound in sweaty and crowded workout center. Gym membership may be palatable for single or non-family people looking to sweat on machinery. Sadly, cancellation process predicated inconvenient--must be done in person with rude management (or with certified mail). I am charged 60 more days fees and sadly, I am still fat. read more

Hey all you gym fearing guys and gals, check this out! OK, I HATE gyms. I hate the way they smell, the foul stench of armpits and sweaty whatnots. I hate the big dude bros staring at every woman like he wants to bend her over that pull up bar. I hate the women with their junk hangin out their shirts and floppin everywhere. I just hate the idea of gyms in general. As part of my change of life, namely a wedding next year, I opted to get back in shape and face my fears, despite my terror and distaste. If you have ever driven past this location, you will know that it is like a gigantic volcano sprouted up in the middle of Kansas. It's huge and terrifying and beautiful. They had a Valentine's Day special to join with no contracts so I came in to check it out. Ken was so wonderful. He was helpful, knowledgeable, and most of all, not pushy. He explained everything to me in perfect detail and I signed up. After taking a tour of the place, I was not intimidated anymore. It doesn't smell like a gym and the patrons are some of the kind that I hate, but I can look past that for now. The women's locker room is beautiful and open with granite counters, benches, and marble/travertine floors. They have steam rooms and showers, the works! They also have a full service salon/spa in the front! I am in heaven here. I don't feel threatened at all and the equipment is well maintained. The people at this gym actually wipe down the machines after they use them. What?! This is unheard of. Anyway, my bf and I set up an appointment for a physical assessment with Noah, the ever beefy, ever intelligent, non threatening personal trainer with the college degree in kickin ass. (no, but really he had a degree for his profession). He was awesome and got us set up with Melissa, who is now our full time PT. We have had one session with her, and shoot, she kicked our asses hard. She worked us over like we were a sack of old potatoes. I love this place and will make my health move with the help of Lifetime fitness. Oh and they have a rock wall too, How cool is that? read more

Worst Gym I've even been too. Erick Blick the GM has 0 customer service skills. My wife and I cancelled our accounts, but they never ended up cancelling hers. She ended up getting charged an additional 4 months, $240. I was told face to face that the account was cancelled but they said they can't find any notes on it. Eric said the books were closed for 2013 and all he could offer was LT bucks. We never used the 1st 100 free ones we got that expire after a certain time. His offer to us was to come back into the gym, where we don't wish to go anymore is insane. That's like getting food poisoning at a restaurant and instead of a refund they give you more of the same food. Crazy insane prices at $60 a month, when every other gym is $24. I was a member at this gym for 2 years until I sadly moved out of state. SO here's the scoop. Even though it's pretty pricey for a monthly membership, it's well worth it. (I was paying $68/month, but fees have increased I believe) The upstairs workout area has all the machines you need and very rarely do you have to wait for one. They are stacked with cardio machines, so you definitely don't have to worry about waiting on those either. This place is perfect for the summer time - I can get my workout in, lay out at the pool, and shower in one trip. read more

Took my first Yoga (Hatha) class and it was great! As a beginner, I was nervous, but the instructor and a few other participants made me feel welcome, even though it seemed like a LOT of them were quite professional and dedicated and have been doing it for years. Instructor Diane D. is a great teacher. It was very relaxing, although challenging at times. Diane made sure that everyone knew the 'advanced' options, as well as encouraging those who were new or beginners, or anyone who wanted to, to stay in the first poses. Get there early! This class is included in the cost of membership, and seemed very popular. The room was warm but not 'hot'. read more

This is a very clean, very nice gym. Lots of equipment for free weights, squat racks, large studios and classes. Huge treadmill areas. Lots of "CrossFit" type equipment in abundance. It was great to see a person going around lubing, maintaining and inspecting equipment. They have dedicated staff to cleaning everything. Very well kept I'm impressed. You'll definitely pay for it though, this gym is not cheap but it'll keep you coming back if the price is any motivation for you. read more

Lifetime is simply the best gym in town. After being at 24 hour fitness for multiple years, this is well worth the money. The locker rooms are immaculate, fresh towels, updated equipment, nothing is ever out of order, I can go on and on. The lap pools are great. I would like the one with the timer to have warmer water, but now I being petty. I see people cleaning all the time. This is extremely refreshing after working out in the previous dump I was at. The restaurant has ok shakes. I have not tried the other items. I have not tried the salon, however that is on my list. Great job Lifetime!!! read more

I agree with the reviews about the price. Lifetime is kind of expensive. It's nearly 70 bucks just for single person pass. Also if you want to use other services they have to offer you're going to spend money. That's why it's good to take advantage of those LT Bucks when you can. Overall, it's good gym. I wouldn't really call it a gym to be honest, more like a fitness center. It's a good place for all types, you can go and workout and aren't surrounded by fitness enthusiasts. read more
